Trump won by capturing three traditionally Democratic states -- Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania ... Republicans will control both houses of Congress as well as the presidency as of January 2017... Democrats knocked out Illinois Republican Senator Mark Kirk and New Hampshire Republican Senator Kelly Ayotte with challengers Tammy Duckworth and Maggie Hassan, but otherwise gained no Senate seats, despite having fielded promising candidates in state after state.
