Here It Goes Again

"Here It Goes Again" is an alternative rock/power pop song by OK Go, and is the third released single (the fifth including radio-only singles) from the album Oh No. It also appears on the compilation album Now 23. It was the band's only single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, until "I Won't Let You Down" entered the Hot 100 in November 2014. Featuring the band dancing on treadmills, the video became a staple on YouTube; it was one of the most watched videos, with over 52 million views, until it was removed from their channel. In addition, the single peaked at #36 in the UK Singles Chart on October 1, 2006, hence marking their second UK Top 40 single and their third UK Top 75 single. It was also featured on the video game Rock Band; according to MTV Games's Paul McGooyer, this helped to spur further interest in the band.

Its sole b-side, "The Lovecats", a cover of The Cure's single was previously released on the band's Do What You Want EP and the single "A Million Ways". An alternate version was nicknamed "UK Surf". The song was featured on the season 6 premiere of the American comedy series, Scrubs, as well as the TV series Grey's Anatomy, Hidden Palms and Gossip Girl and in the films Mr. Woodcock, Bachelor Party 2: The Last Temptation, Ramona and Beezus and Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star.

Goes

Goes ( pronunciation ) is a municipality and a city in the southwestern Netherlands on Zuid-Beveland, in the province of Zeeland. The town of Goes has approximately 27,000 residents.

History

Goes was founded in the 10th century on the edge of a creek: de Korte Gos (the Short Gos). The village grew fast, and in the early 12th century it had a market square and a church devoted to Mary Magdalene. In 1405 Goes received city rights from William, Duke of Bavaria, by his right as count of Holland, and in 1417 it was allowed to build town walls. The prosperity of the city was based upon the cloth industry and the production of salt. In the 16th century Goes declined. Its connection to the sea silted up and in 1554 a large fire destroyed part of the city.

In Autumn 1572, during the course of the Eighty Years' War, Goes, in the Spanish Netherlands, was besieged by Dutch forces with the support of English troops. The siege was relieved in October 1572 by Spanish Tercios, who waded across the Scheldt to attack the besieging forces. In 1577 the Spanish soldiers who occupied Goes were driven out by Prince Maurits of Nassau. The prince built a defence wall around Goes, which is still partly standing. From the 17th century Goes did not play an important role, except as an agricultural centre. In 1868 a railway was constructed through it, but this did not lead to industrialisation. Agriculture remains the most important economic activity.

OK Go

OK Go is an American alternative rock band originally from Chicago, Illinois, now based in Los Angeles, California. The band is composed of Damian Kulash (lead vocals, guitar), Tim Nordwind (bass guitar and vocals), Dan Konopka (drums and percussion) and Andy Ross (guitar, keyboards and vocals), who joined them in 2005, replacing Andy Duncan. They are known for their often quirky and elaborate one-take music videos.

The original members formed as OK Go in 1998 and released two studio albums before Duncan's departure. The band's video for "Here It Goes Again" won a Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 2007.

History

Formation and early years (1998–2000)

The band's lead singer, Damian Kulash, met bassist Tim Nordwind at Interlochen Arts Camp when they were 11. Kulash was in for graphic design, Nordwind for music. The band name comes from their art teacher saying, "OK... Go!" while they were drawing. They kept in touch after camp, often exchanging mixtapes which influenced each other's musical taste and their future sound. They met the band's former guitarist and keyboardist Andy Duncan in high school. Nordwind and Duncan moved to Chicago for college, where they formed the band Stanley's Joyful Noise with drummer Dan Konopka. The name OK Go was adopted in 1998, when Kulash moved to Chicago to join the band.
