An executive producer (EP) enables the making of a commercial entertainment product. The EP may be concerned with management accounting and/or with associated legal issues (like copyrights or royalties). An EP generally contributes to the film's budget and may or may not work on set.
In motion pictures, an executive producer oversees the filmmaking with regard to film finance. Executive producers liaise with the line producer and report to production companies and distributors.
In television, an executive producer often supervises the creative content as well as the financial aspects of a production. Some writers (for example Stephen J. Cannell and Tina Fey) have been the creator and also the producer of the same TV show. Other dual roles may include the executive director(s) starring in the show they produce, such as Full Throttle Saloon reality TV star, Jesse James Dupree. Still other shows may have more than one executive producer working on a TV show where there can be one among them who outranks the others. This position is known as the "showrunner," or operational executive producer.

Veteran character actor James Whitmore hosts “Survival!,” a 1964 black-and-white series that focused on a famous disaster in each episode. US Navy Lt. Frank Ellis is the subject of this particular episode, and opens with the tale of Ellis as a young boy watching from his Florida home as pilots practiced various maneuvers. Ellis recalls his enthusiasm in a voiceover and we learn how in 1950 the family moved to Ohio and the young man began taking flying lessons. Following high school he enrolled in the University of Ohio and joined the ROTC, eventually joining the navy, earning a commission, and his pilot wings in 1957 (mark 10:25). Meet the Press is a weekly American television news/interview program that is broadcast on NBC. It is the longest-running program in American television history, though its current format bears little resemblance to the one it debuted with on November 6, 1947. Like similar shows that have followed it, Meet the Press specializes in interviews with national leaders on issues of politics, economics, foreign policy and other public affairs, along with panel discussions that provide opinions and analysis. The longevity of Meet the Press is illustrated when one considers that the program debuted during what was only the second official "network television season" for American television. One historical landmark of the program is that it was the first on which a sitting U.S. president, Gerald Fo...
