Cynthia is a feminine given name of Greek origin: Κυνθία, Kynthía, "from Mount Cynthus" on Delos island. It can be abbreviated as Cindy or as Cyndy. There are various spellings for this name.

Cynthia was originally an epithet of the Greek goddess of the moon, Artemis, who according to legend, was born on Mount Cynthus. Selene, the Greek personification of the Moon, and the Roman Diana (by way of their identification with Artemis) were also sometimes called "Cynthia".

Katie (talk show)

Katie was an American talk show that aired on syndication from September 10, 2012 to July 30, 2014. It was hosted by former ABC News correspondent and current Yahoo News anchor Katie Couric. It premiered on September 10, 2012, with the second season debut on September 9, 2013. On December 19, 2013, Disney–ABC Domestic Television and Katie Couric mutually agreed to cancel the show. The last show was taped on June 12, 2014 and the series finale aired on July 30, 2014.

Format

Katie covered news and topics "that people care about". It is essentially a lifestyle show, but with news components to reflect Couric’s background and interests. During an interview on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2011, Couric said that she expected the show to cover various issues and be a mixture of The Oprah Winfrey Show and Today.

When launching the show, Couric had incorporated her affiliation with the ABC News division into her talk show. Colleagues Christiane Amanpour, Deborah Roberts, Sam Champion, Leo Jean, Matt Gutman, Richard Besser, Marci Gonzalez, Jim Avila, Dan Abrams, Josh Elliot, Brian Ross, and ABC World News Anchor Diane Sawyer made appearances on her show to report on events related to news. Couric has had The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan of Live! with Kelly and Michael, and some cast members of the soap opera General Hospital come on the show.

Clearing House Automated Transfer System

The Clearing House Automated Transfer System, or CHATS, is a Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system for the transfer of funds in Hong Kong. It is operated by Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited, a private company jointly owned by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Hong Kong Association of Banks. Transactions in four currency denominations may be settled using CHATS: Hong Kong dollar, renminbi, euro, and US dollar. In 2005, the value of Hong Kong dollar CHATS transactions averaged HK$467 billion per day, which amounted to a third of Hong Kong's annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP); the total value of transactions that year was 84 times the GDP of Hong Kong.

History

Prior to the launch of CHATS as a RTGS system, interbank settlements in Hong Kong relied on a multi-tier system which settled in a daily net basis. About 170 banks settled with 10 banks. These 10 banks, in turn, settled with Hongkong Bank, which then settled with the HKMA in a one-to-one basis. Hongkong Bank acted as the clearing house under this system, settling payments across its books in a net basis on the day following the transactions. The HKMA decided that this did not meet international standards as set by G10's Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems; following a six-month feasibility study, in June 1994, it decided to develop CHATS as a RTGS system.

Katie Uhlmann

Katie Uhlmann (b. September 1, 1987) is a Canadian actor, writer, producer and interview host. She is best known for her online entertainment series, "Katie Chats" which she began in 2012. Through this web series, she has completed over 3000 interviews with filmmakers and celebrities including David Cronenberg, Gordon Lightfoot, Rick Mercer, Colin Mochrie, Atom Egoyan and Shannon Tweed. In interviewing so many members of the Canadian entertainment community, he goal is to develop a resource for students of the Canadian entertainment community and industry, stating that, she has set out to create the largest database of interviews with Canadian talent in the world.

She began performing in community theatre, and was an on campus reporter for the TV station of Queen's University. After graduating from university, Uhlmann became an actor and entertainment reporter, in Toronto, finding roles in such films as Kingdom Come and Saving Prosperity. She has appeared in many television shows, indie films and commercials.
