Janam

Janam ("Birth") is a 1985 Hindi film directed and written by Mahesh Bhatt. It is one of the autobiographical films Bhatt created in the early part of his career.

Overview

Janam was created after Bhatt's acclaimed early films Arth (1982) and Saaransh (1984), and established him as a promising new director of the Indian film industry, long before he ventured into more commercial endeavours.

This film was followed by other films with similar themes from Bhatt's personal life, including Naam (1986), Zakhm (1998) and Woh Lamhe (2006), films for which he provided the story.

Arijit Singh is an Indian playback singer and a music programmer. Born in Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal, his career began upon participating in the reality show Fame Gurukul (2005), in which he lost at the finals. After winning another reality show called 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil, Singh built a recording setup of his own, beginning his journey with music programming. Subsequently, he went to become as an assistant music programmer to Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Vishal-Shekhar and Mithoon.

Singh rose to widespread prominence and became a household name with the release of "Tum Hi Ho" from Aashiqui 2 (2013). He was given the Best Male Playback Singer award for the song, in 59th Filmfare Awards. In 2014, he collaborated with Jeet Gannguli—for whom he performed the rest of his tracks in Aashiqui 2 —for CityLights, where he rendered the romantic version of the song "Muskurane", which fetched him most nominations in the year. Gannguli composed Suno Na Sangemarmar and Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy's Sufi song, Mast Magan garnered him another two nominations in 60th Filmfare Awards.

Shah Rukh Khan (born Shahrukh Khan, 2 November 1965), also known as SRK, is an Indian film actor, producer and television personality. Referred to in the media as the "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King of Bollywood" or "King Khan", he has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous accolades, including 14 Filmfare Awards. Antara Mitra (Bengali: অন্তরা মিত্র; born 10 July, 1987) is a vocalist and Bollywood Playback singer from West Bengal, India. Antara was a contestant in Sony Entertainment Television's reality show Indian Idol 2 in 2006.

Biography

Antara Mitra is from Maslandapur, a small town in West Bengal, near Calcutta, India. She exhibited a keen early interest in music, and her father inspired her. She was accepted as a contestant at age 18 on a national TV show and competed admirably as a finalist in both that show and a successive similar show (Junoon).

At one time she considered studying medicine, but abandoned the idea in favour of pursuing a professional singing career.

Mitra literally grew up with music: her father is a music teacher. Since the age of three, Antara would sing along with other children who came to her home to learn from her father.

When Antara was eliminated from the contest, well-known music director Anu Malik offered her playback singing work, but Antara returned to her home town and soon afterward (April 2006) she relocated to Mumbai to pursue a vocal-performance-for-film soundtrack career.
