Gone Home is a first-person interactive storytelling adventure video game developed and published by The Fullbright Company.
Set in the year 1995, the plot focuses on exploration of a mansion in Portland, Oregon, and examining common household objects within the home.
The player takes the role of Kaitlin in the first-person view, who can view objects in the game using the mouse and move using the keyboard. There are no set goals in the game, however the game encourages and rewards the player when they explore new areas of the house and search for new messages. Much of the interactivity rests upon looking at objects within the house. The player finds objects which open other areas of the house that contain additional objects to be looked at.
On June 7, 1995, 21-year-old Kaitlin Greenbriar returns home from overseas to her family in Oregon: her father, Terry, is a failed writer who makes a living reviewing home electronics; her mother, Janice, is a wildlife conservationist who recently got promoted to director; and her 18-year-old sister Samantha. Upon arriving, she finds the house deserted, with a note on the door from Sam pleading Kaitlin not to investigate what happened.
Gone may refer to:
A home is a dwelling-place used as a permanent or semi-permanent residence for an individual, family, household or several families in a tribe. It is often a house, apartment, or other building, or alternatively a mobile home, houseboat, yurt or any other portable shelter. Homes typically provide areas and facilities for sleeping, preparing food, eating and hygiene. Larger groups may live in a nursing home, children's home, convent or any similar institution. A homestead also includes agricultural land and facilities for domesticated animals. Where more secure dwellings are not available, people may live in the informal and sometimes illegal shacks found in slums and shanty towns. More generally, "home" may be considered to be a geographic area, such as a town, village, suburb, city, or country.
Transitory accommodation in a treatment facility for a few weeks is not normally considered permanent enough to replace a more stable location as 'home'. In 2005, 100 million people worldwide were estimated to be homeless.

Gone Home is currently free on the PS4 Playstation Plus, and after winning numerous awards you would think RGT 85 would be impressed with the game. Instead, he is left questioning not only the merit of the game, but the merit of the industry that gave this game such high praise.
