Manmohan Waris

Manmohan Waris (born 3 August 1967) is an Indian Punjabi folk/pop singer. Manmohan Waris was born in Halluwal, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. He is the elder brother of Sangtar (a renowned Punjabi record producer, musician & poet) & Kamal Heer (a renowned Punjabi Folk/Pop singer). Waris is considered one of the best in Punjabi music and is known as The King Of Bhangra.

Waris is married to Pritpal Kaur Heer and father to two children.

Manmohan

Manmohan means 'Winner of the heart'. It is another name of Krishna, the Hindu deity, one of the "avatars" (or "incarnation") of Lord Vishnu. Manmohan may also refer to:

Plasma Records

Plasma Records Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (Plasma Records) is a global music label. It was formed in 2000 by Manmohan Waris, Kamal Heer and Sangtar.

History

Plasma Records is the record label for Grind Music & Sound Inc., a digital audio and post-production facility. Grind Music & Sound was opened in 2001 by Sangtar and Michelle Garuik. In 2002 Plasma Records was formed and set up an operation center in Jalandhar, Punjab, India. Manmohan Waris said the reason for Plasma Records was "Many of the top guys in record companies themselves don't have the idea of the pulse of Punjabi music but we are expected to alter stuff and work according to their notions. Now we can do our own stuff without interference." The majority of music and associated materials released by Plasma Records is recorded fully or partially in the Grind Music & Sound studios. Plasma Records first release, Kamli by Kamal Heer, released in 2000. Since the formation of Plasma Records, Kamal Heer, Manmohan Waris and Sangtar released the majority of their music on Plasma Records. Plasma Records has also produced hits in recent years such as: Punjabi Virsa 2004-Wonderland Live, Nachiye Majajne, Punjabi Virsa 2005-London Live, Masti Three, Punjabi Virsa 2006-Toronto Live, Tasveer-Live, Chan Jiha Gabhru, Punjabi Reloaded, Kankaa, Punjabi Virsa Vancouver Live and Jinday Ni Jinday. Plasma Records has become a well known record company that releases hit albums. Plasma Records most recent releases are Jinday Ni Jinday by Kamal Heer and Dil Te Na Laeen by Manmohan Waris. Plasma Records also organizes the "Punjabi Virsa" tours every year with Kamal Heer, Manmohan Waris and Sangtar. Punjabi Virsa 2010 will be a tour of the UK, USA and Canada from June–September 2010. Deepak Bali is the Plasma Records spokesperson and managing director.

Manmohan Singh

Manmohan Singh (Punjabi: [mənˈmoːɦən ˈsɪ́ŋɡ]; born 26 September 1932) is an Indian economist who served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. The first Sikh in office, Singh was the first prime minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to be re-elected after completing a full five-year term.

Born in Gah (now in Punjab, Pakistan), Singh's family migrated to India during its partition in 1947. After obtaining his doctorate in economics from Oxford, Singh worked for the United Nations in 1966–69. He subsequently began his bureaucratic career when Lalit Narayan Mishra hired him as an advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Trade. Over the 70s and 80s, Singh held several key posts in the Government of India, such as Chief Economic Advisor (1972–76), Reserve Bank governor (1982–85) and Planning Commission head (1985–87).

In 1991, as India faced a severe economic crisis, newly elected Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao surprisingly inducted the apolitical Singh into his cabinet as Finance Minister. Over the next few years, despite strong opposition, he as a Finance Minister carried out several structural reforms that liberalised India's economy. Although these measures proved successful in averting the crisis, and enhanced Singh's reputation globally as a leading reform-minded economist, the incumbent Congress party fared poorly in the 1996 general election. Subsequently, Singh served as Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of India's Parliament) during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government of 1998–2004.

Kamal Heer

Kamal Heer (born Kamaljeet Singh Heer) is a Punjabi musician. He is the younger brother of Manmohan Waris (the eldest of the brothers) and Sangtar, two other esteemed musicians. His live performances showcase his virtuosity with taan and his command of the art of traditional Punjabi music. All three of Heer brothers are behind the formulation of Punjabi Virsa shows all over the world. These shows have become internationally famous. Also a talented composer, Kamal Heer has collaborated with his brother Sangtar to write music for their brother Waris. He is married to Gurjit Kaur Birring.

Career

Kamal Heer was born in the Village of Halluwal, Punjab, India. He learned music from Ustaad Jaswant Singh Bhanwra. After Kamal's family moved to Canada in 1990, Kamal and older brother Sangtar started composing music. In 1993 they composed music for Manmohan Waris's album, Gaairan Naal Penghan Jhotdiye which became a huge hit. Kamal continued composing till 1999.

Kamal's debut album, Kamli released in 2000, which mostly avoided success. In 2002 Kamal Heer released Masti-Kanthay Vala which became very successful especially the superhit song "Kanthay Vala". Kamal Heer released Masti 2 in 2003 which contained superhit tracks "Nachne Nu Kare Mera Ji", "Kinnu Yaad Kar Kar Hasdi", "Hick Da Taveet" and "Ishq Ne Kamle Karte".

Much to his relief he finds out that his servant's son, Bansi, has been mistakenly abducted in place of his son. Nevertheless he decides to pay the ransom, this time with the help of Inspector Amarnath Gill, his sister's estranged boyfriend, who he had turned down as he was not wealthy enough. The money is turned over to the kidnappers, two associates, Manmohan and Preeti, are arrested, Bansi is found and returned to his dad. But the money and the real abductor, Raj Singh, is still at large - and as long as he remains at large none of them can really be safe for he has a grudge to settle against Haridas, and the missing 20 Lakhs may result in the bankruptcy of Haridas' company, they may have to forfeit their family home, and Haridas may well face a jail sentence for embezzling this amount for personal gain.

This does not auger well with Sarojini, who fires him, and sets about to get Asha married to London-based Pran. Ashok returns home and finds Roopa missing. Plot: On his birthday, wealthy Bombay-based Manmohan, whose father, Shamnarain, is overseas, finds out that he does not have any real friends. Disillusioned, he returns home, and that night overpowers a burglar, Sudesh. He decides to not call the police on the condition that he lets him live in the slums, to which Sudesh agrees, and takes him to a shanty Chawl. The next day, Manmohan, who now calls himself Shyam, meets Sudesh' sister, Shyama, and both are attracted to each other. He then sub-lets a room from a dweller, known as Mausi, and starts to sell ice-cream on the streets as a living. He indirectly uses his wealth and influence to help some of the impoverished residents. He then proposes to Shyama and she accepts - and it is this acceptance that will soon pit him not only against his snobbish and enraged father - but also against Sudesh as well as a much-feared gangster, Ranvir, who wants to wed Shyama at any and all costs.
