J.John Interviews Gary Grant. Gary Grant is the founder and managing director of The Entertainer toy shops. He and his wife Catherine opened a local toy shop in Amersham which has since expanded to become the UK’s largest independent toy retailer, currently operating 104 stores. As a Christian who publicly talks about his faith, he has led prayer meetings at their head office at times of crisis, namely 9/11. His faith also affects the way the company runs with no stores opening on Sundays. The Entertainer gives 10% of its profits to charity in line with the biblical principles of tithing. ‘In everything we do, faith is central to our decisions.’ Whilst other retailers are suffering in a tough market, and despite not trading on Sunday – now the busiest day of the week on some high stree...
