Robin Lane - Heart Connection EP - 1984

From a musical family (father Kenny Lane was Dean Martin's pianist and a writer of the standard "Everybody Loves Somebody"), Robin Lane's early bio includes a marriage to a pre-Police Andy Summers and vocals on "Round & Round" on Neil Young's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere LP.

Moving east to Boston in the late 70's, she formed Robin Lane & the Chartbusters with former members of the Modern Lovers Asa Brebner and Leroy Radcliffe.  They signed to Warner Brothers, had early success with the single "When Things Go Wrong," but were dropped by the label after the second album stalled and Lane became a mother.  Lane kept working, producing the independently released EP "Heart Connection" in 1984. Never issued on CD, this is a rip from the vinyl.

The Beatles Strange Mixes

With the recent re-release of Sgt. Pepper I thought I'd post this. And since I mentioned Sgt. Pepper, I can't believe all the negativity I've been reading about good ol' Sergeant and the four lads. I'm seeing people discredit it and comparing the Fabs work to others, most noticeably The Beach Boys. I'll tell you this, to this day I still don't get "Pet Sounds." What am I missing? Sure, "Wouldn't It Be Nice, God Only Knows and Caroline No are the songs I would listen to again but other than that I think it's just endless doodling, with ideas not fleshed out. In this day and age anybody with a keyboard (this author included) can spout any amount of non-sense they want (just look at all of the nimrods who think the media is only on a witch hunt and agent orange has done nothing wrong). Also I love Van Morrison but Astral Weeks leaves me cold same for Harvest, Master Of Puppets, any Grateful Dead, Steely Dan, The Wall, Velvet Underground and Nico, Hotel California I know it's me, but for the most part, all of those that I've listed just don't get my toes a tappin'. That doesn't mean I haven't spent my hard earned money on everyone one of those I've just talked about. And some I own 2 or 3 copies of, be it imports, special editions, etc. How bout you? What is your list for albums that are considered to be, without them, you are a non-musical listening cretin. No Back Cover.

Songs
1. My Bonnie (Stereo With German Intro)
2. Sweet Georgia Brown (1962 Stereo Version)

Super Groups Salute To The South - Sept. 5, 1987

In 1981, Super Groups came back with a new look for their syndicated radio shows.  Gone were the premium "boxed set" packages, audiophile sleeves, and premium paper inserts. The new look was like the King Biscuit product: a monochrome disc label, photocopied cue sheets, and cheap paper sleeves...and the similar look wasn't coincidental:  the shows were produced by D.I.R. Broadcasting Corp., also the producers of the King Biscuit shows.

It looks like they were etching a show number into the run-out groove that numbers the shows in a simple ascending numbering scheme.  If that's right, this is the second show in the new series (SG-002)

For this one, broadcast on a Saturday at the start of the Labor Day weekend, Super Groups adopted a "Southern Rock" theme for a "compilation show" with live spots from the Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet, Outlaws/Henry Paul Band, Rossinton Collins, .38 Special, and the Johnny Van Zant Band.   Each group gets one to three songs per LP side, so this doesn't play like a real concert, but it's a good overview of the genre.

...and they wrap the whole thing up with a long version of "Freebird" (or "Free Bird").  If you were ending a Southern Rock smorgasbord, is their any other choice?

It's hosted by Pat St. John,  a Yankee D.J. who shows up hosting a lot of these syndicated shows..

Unfortunately, there were no cue sheets with this one.  I've included a scan of a disc label.  The vinyl on Side A presented some challenges, but I put in a week of work and made it listenable.   Flac files of wavs!

Soundgarden Rarities And B-Sides

Gotta a chance to see these guys once a long time ago.  Louder than fuck.  Even though they were still a year away from the massive success they would later achieve, they still played like their life depended on it even if there was only 50 people to see 'em. I always liked these guys.  See Scans

Todd Rundgren / Westwood One In Concert #89-18, The New Ritz, NYC, Aug. 1989

Okay, gang, here's the latest project.  I've been running slow as the needle on the turntable went kablooey and I had to track one down.  In the meanwhile I promised the boss I'd get an Aerosmith show done while he was on vacation and I was totally wrong, I end up finishing off the Todd Rundgren show instead.

Flac files of wavs!  You get a 300 dpi scan of the cue sheet and disc label!  I found a snooty New York Times review of one of the two concerts and tossed that in, too!  I found a scan of a ticket for you!

THE ANNOUNCER:  Steve Downes, American disc jockey and voice actor...famous as the voice of MASTER CHIEF Petty Officer John-117 in the video game HALO.

THE COMMERCIALS:  Hey!  That's Toots & the Maytals doing a Budweiser commercial!  What a voice!

THE VENUE:  While announcer Steve Downes calls it "the Ritz in New York," this was recorded at the NEW RITZ, at 254 West 54th Street, New York City...the former site of STUDIO 54, the famous 1970's disco.  The Ritz was at 119 East 11th Street from 1980 to April 1989...three miles away from where this was recorded.

The revamped New Ritz opened on April 6, 1989, with a show by the Radiators. Capacity was about 3,000 seated and standing, roughly double that of the old Ritz.

THE RECORDING CREDITS:  First of all, Todd Rundgren actually mixed the show.  It's unusual for an artist to mix their own syndicated concert.

But take note of the recording engineer for Westwood One!  It was DALE PETERS, from the James Gang!

David Bowie Station To Station Rehearsals

I'm gonna get out of the music thing and put my time and energies into something I've always wanted to do, yep that's right time for me to become a geriatric doctor to rock and  rollers. First up I'm in deep negotiations with Mick Mars from Motley Crue to create a wheelchair that any guitarist can play onstage, without wheels. It operates on jet packs, so that instead of running around said stage (like a moron) you can go from your spot on stage, to say behind the drum kit by simply playing the wrong note. If you play enough wrong notes you can get to the bus station to get you to your next gig. I'm also consulting with many, many old time rockers management teams on a device where they have a polyethylene tube attached from the penis and rectum that runs from inside the pant leg to the closest available restroom. This avoids the nasty accidents many of our old time R&R heroes experience while playing a two hour show. We have had one problem with this though as one of our very famous artists mixed up the polyethylene tube with the chord to his wireless microphone. Let me just tell you this "Enter Sandman" does not sound the same when the vocalist is constantly spitting between words. What has been the hardest thing to figure out is our prototype "rocker." We're trying to figure out a way to make all of our old rock-stars fit into a fake skinny body with their vocal range intact from when they first started out in the "business" and perfecting an alternative to receding hairline.  Oh almost forgot... too many of our "stars" can no longer take drugs due to age limitations so I've consulted a Mister. Zimmerman on how to look and talk "stoned" while conducting interviews or while on stage or at any given awaken moment. So as you can see I've got my hands full, and I really don't have a lot of time for posting anymore. Anyway that's enough Bowie for a while. See Scans

David Bowie C'Est La Vie

Alrighty, this guy goes over very well here. But first, you'll have to read about my latest plight or if you're a greedy bastard and don't give a shit about my misfortune then you'll just scroll down to the links. But you know what I'm gonna do, to make sure you read this I'm putting a word here that if I see in the comments I'll post the other volumes. The new word is "davesez" if I see this word in one of the comments I'll post the rest, this way I know you will have read this. If no comments come then you'll only get three volumes. Speaking of the volumes I only have 5 of the 6. I have no idea what the fuck happened to volume 6 but 6 is just other people doing versions of his songs.  If you know of a link where I can pick up volume 6 I'll give you a lollipop. Now on to my story. Two weeks ago my hard drive quit on me, at first I thought I had picked up a virus but I'm fortunate enough to have a son that lives at home here who diagnosed the problem as my hard drive. So after he reformatted my new hard drive I am now able to post again (Thanks Matt) I had to buy new software for my computer for burning CD's, went from Nero to Roxio so far I seem to like Roxio better but I'm interested in your thoughts on which "YOU" like better.  Second when the old hard drive went down, I lost "Polderbits" I've had to switch to "Goldwave" I like it too but I am still learning all the nuances to it, for instance anybody know how you split an album into separate cuts? It seems either I'm getting a bit of the intro from one song to the next when I try to separate them or I miss the tail end of the first song. Look I give so much and ask for so little so if you can help a brother out I'd be indebted to you. But for now back to posting. Don't forget to check out the new feature here at the Wagon I put lots of shit up there too. Oh one more thing here's a tip for you, when you go to Zippy if you right click on the "download now" and use your save as button you'll avoid having to put up with the ads that pop-up when you left click.  See Scans for details on this. *OK you guys have come through with flying colors, and Tony P thanks so much for the offer but I'm good now. Draftervoi I'm using MP3's. Oh if you notice I've only put up one new link I have one more to go but I've changed the "Secret"word find it add it to comments and I'll post link 5

Santana - Old Waldorf Theater. S.F., CA. 1981

My vacation has been delayed until May 3rd, Sooooo....

Santana - Old Waldorf Theater
San Francisco, CA,
February 5, 1981
FM Source @flac

**Original Notes**
This is a VERY common item, widely circulated in various form and sources, but since we are in ratio free period, it's well worth a download! This should be from a FM source (spectrals reveal some sort of a carrier tone), mistakenly circulating as SBD. There is also a much longer audience version, but apparently this all that is available from the broadcast. Lineage is unfortunately totally unknown, but of more than excellent sound quality. Anyhow, the same spectral and frequency analysis confirm it's 100% lossless. This was the last of a 5-nights run a the Waldorf, with the band introducing the Zebop album and tour. Here is the era of Santana drivin' through stadium rock, some unusual tracks played, as the reggae beats on Body Surfin', made it an interesting piece, if I had listenied without knowing, I would have maybe not even thought it was Santana...

Track List:
01-E Papa Re  4.59
02-Primera Invasion  2.20

note that due to disk space limitations, I will not be able to keep seeding this torrent for a long time - I will abandon the seed in a few days, maybe remove from HD these wav/flac files, and keep only my own CDR. Too many things to upload. In case of seeders going missing, enlist yourself as a leecher and some seeder will come back, and you are anyhow welcome to try and ask for additional torrenting...
Checksum file included - if uploaded on other trackers or reseed (and you are welcome to do both), please include original infofile. Also, if not satisfied with my offering, you are welcome to remaster/retrack/whatever and repost, but please always clearly state where/who did you have this material from and keep original infofile. IF YOU ARE THEN OFFERING THIS SET ON YOUR BLOG AS mp3's, PLEASE SPECIFY WHERE TO ALSO GET THE ORIGINAL LOSSLESS FILES.

Richard Thompson - Ames, Iowa 1991

Richard Thompson - The Maintainence Shop

Soundboard/Matrix recording @flac

**Taper Notes**
This is the first RT show we taped on DAT.
We got 1 channel off the SBD and set up a Shure SM57 hanging out the soundbooth window for the other channel.
We ran them into my little Boss mixer and then into the Sony D3 DAT

Source- SBD and Sennheiser 421> Boss mixer> Sony D3 DAT> CD> EAC> Soundforge 7.0> CDWave> FLAC

For this upload I remixed it this way:
Removed the first .027 seconds from the start of the Shure ch to get it in sync with the SBD ch.
Remixed- left is 75% sbd w/ 25% Shure, right is 90% sbd w/ 10% Shure.
This preserved the direct sound of the SBD while adding some room ambience and a touch of stereo effect to what was two mono channels.

I've given this one out over the years, but even if you have it already maybe you will enjoy my remix.

The Velvet Underground - Live Columbus, OH. 1966

The Velvet Underground - Live Valley Dale Ballroom
November 4, 1966

Columbus, OH.
@320

The Velvet Underground's performance at the Valleydalle Ballroom, Columbus, Ohio, on 4 November 1966, taped by art students in the audience with the help of the band's equipment manager. Excellent show to a largely indifferent and cloth-eared audience. The sound is very good on the whole, given the age of the recording. There are a few different versions of this one circulating, and judging by the track times, this one appears to be the fullest available. And it doesn't have the barking dog...(more at bootleg zone)

Set List:
1- Melody Laughter
2- Femme Fatale
3- Venus In Furs
4- The Black Angel's Death Song
5- All Tomorrows Parties
6- I'm Waiting For The Man
7- Heroine
8- Run, Run, Run
9- The Nothing Song

Van Halen US Festival 1983

I've been spending most of my time over at the Adult Bookstore (our new feature here) posting stuff from my own collection.  That being said, one of the crates that I pulled for posting over there featured a bunch of boots. This is one of them. I'm sure it's posted damn near everywhere and we have even posted 4 songs from this back in 09. The track listing is fucked up but I'm pretty sure it's all here.  One final thing about half way through "You Really Got Me" on the second disc, I guess the taper spilled his bong water on the recorder and fucked up the heads. Well after all it is a BOOT. See half-assed scans.

YOU BETTER CALL UP THE AMBULANCE I'M IN DEEP SHOCK

YOU CAN'T GET ROMANTIC ON A SUBWAY LINE
