Minivan

A minivan is a vehicle designed primarily for passenger safety and comfort, with three rows of adult-size seats, access through large sliding doors, and car-like handling and fuel economy. Minivans are purchased for their versatility and can often transport more people than a three-row sport utility vehicle, and also with better comfort, access, and fuel economy. Like most modern vehicles, minivans are typically of unibody construction with front-wheel drive. They also feature a short, sloping aerodynamic hood. They are usually taller than sedans or station wagons, affording a good view of the road. Minivans usually have removable seats to allow hauling of cargo on a flat floor.

The name minivan derives from the fact that when they were introduced in North America they were smaller and more car-like than the traditional full-sized vans like the Ford E-Series, Dodge Ram Van, and the Chevrolet Van, which were variants of pickup trucks, with truck-like driving and poor fuel economy. In the British Isles they are sometimes called Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) or people carriers. The Mini Van, a van version of the Mini was produced from 1960 to 1978, after which it was renamed the Mini 95.

Toyota Sienna

The Toyota Sienna is a minivan manufactured by Toyota at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana facility, in Princeton, Indiana, United States, for the North American market. It replaced the first-generation Previa van in 1997 with a more conventional front wheel drive layout and shares a heavily revised platform with the Camry. Both the Previa and original Sienna were smaller than the other minivans they competed against, but a redesign in 2003 (for the 2004 model year) increased the dimensions to match those of its competitors. The Sienna is currently the only minivan in its class to offer all-wheel-drive. It was redesigned a second time in 2010 (for the 2011 model year). The third generation Sienna was put on sale in the US in February 2010 and is the first Sienna to ever receive a "Top Safety Pick" award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Exports from the US to Korea began in November 2011.

The Chrysler Pacifica nameplate was used by Chrysler for a variety of vehicles. It was first used on a luxury minivan concept vehicle in 1999. Then from 2004 to 2008 it was used on a mid-size crossover. And now it is being used on the 2017 to present minivan.

Kia Carnival

The Kia Carnival is a minivan manufactured by Kia Motors, introduced in September 1998, marketed globally under various nameplates — prominently as the Kia Sedona — and currently in its third generation. In North America, a rebadged variant known as the Hyundai Entourage was sold from 2007–2009.

First generation (1998–2006)

The first generation model was manufactured and marketed differently for specific regions, including under a joint venture in the Chinese market with Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Company, as well as the Naza Ria in Malaysia.

In Australia, the Kia Carnival went on sale in 1999, with a standard 5-speed manual and 2.5 L V6 producing 177 hp (132 kW). A 4-speed automatic was optional. In 2001, it outsold the Toyota Tarago, becoming the top-selling minivan in the country. It was sales leader again in 2004 and 2005, when sales peaked at 5,259 units.

In Europe, the first generation was available only with the 2.5 Rover KV6 engine 24V petrol with 163 PS and Euro 2 standard emission level and the 2,9 litres turbodiesel engine with 126 PS. From 2001 Kia Motors introduce the 2.5 KV6 Euro 3 with 150 PS and the new 2.9 CRDI common rail diesel engine with 144 PS.
