A mouse (plural: mice) is a small rodent characteristically having a pointed snout, small rounded ears, a body-length scaly tail and a high breeding rate. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse (Mus musculus). It is also a popular pet. In some places, certain kinds of field mice are locally common. They are known to invade homes for food and shelter.
Domestic mice sold as pets often differ substantially in size from the common house mouse. This is attributable both to breeding and to different conditions in the wild. The most well known strain, the white lab mouse, has more uniform traits that are appropriate to its use in research.
The American white-footed mouse (Peromyscus leucopus) and the deer mouse (Peromyscus maniculatus), as well as other common species of mouse-like rodents around the world, also sometimes live in houses. These, however, are in other genera.
Cats, wild dogs, foxes, birds of prey, snakes and even certain kinds of arthropods have been known to prey heavily upon mice. Nevertheless, because of its remarkable adaptability to almost any environment, the mouse is one of the most successful mammalian genera living on Earth today.
The figure of Mother Goose is the imaginary author of a collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes often published as (Old) Mother Goose's Rhymes. As a character, she appears in one nursery rhyme. A Christmas pantomime called Mother Goose is often performed in the United Kingdom. The so-called "Mother Goose" rhymes and stories have formed the basis for many classic British pantomimes. Mother Goose is generally depicted in literature and book illustration as an elderly country woman in a tall hat and shawl, a costume identical to the peasant costume worn in Wales in the early 20th century, but is sometimes depicted as a goose (usually wearing a bonnet).
Mother Goose is the name given to an archetypal country woman. She is credited with the Mother Goose stories and rhymes popularized in the 1700s in English-language literature, although no specific writer has ever been identified with such a name.
17th century English readers would have been familiar with Mother Hubbard, a stock figure when Edmund Spenser published his satire Mother Hubberd's Tale in 1590; as well as with similar fairy tales told by "Mother Bunch" (the pseudonym of Madame d'Aulnoy) in the 1690s. An early mention appears in an aside in a French versified chronicle of weekly happenings, Jean Loret's La Muse Historique, collected in 1650. His remark, comme un conte de la Mère Oye ("like a Mother Goose story") shows that the term was readily understood. Additional 17th century Mother Goose/Mere l'Oye references appear in French literature in the 1620s and 1630s.
A mousetrap is a specialized type of animal trap designed primarily to catch mice; however, it may also trap other small animals. Mousetraps are usually set in an indoor location where there is a suspected infestation of rodents. There are various types of mousetrap, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Larger traps are designed to catch other species of animals; such as rats, squirrels, other small rodents, or other animals.
The trap that is credited as the first patented lethal mousetrap was a set of spring-loaded, cast-iron jaws dubbed "Royal No. 1". It was patented on 4 November 1879 by James M. Keep of New York, US patent 221,320. From the patent description it is clear that this is not the first mousetrap of this type, but the patent is for this simplified, easy to manufacture, design. It is the industrial age development of the deadfall trap, but relying on the force of a wound spring rather than gravity.
The jaws of this type are operated by a coiled spring and the triggering mechanism is between the jaws, where the bait is held. The trip snaps the jaws shut, killing the rodent.
A nursery rhyme is a traditional poem or song for young children in Britain and many other countries, but usage only dates from the late 18th /early 19th century. In North America the term Mother Goose Rhymes, introduced in the mid-18th century, is still often used.
The oldest children's songs of which we have records are lullabies, intended to help a child sleep. Lullabies can be found in every human culture. The English term lullaby is thought to come from "lu, lu" or "la la" sound made by mothers or nurses to calm children, and "by by" or "bye bye", either another lulling sound, or a term for good night. Until the modern era lullabies were usually only recorded incidentally in written sources. The Roman nurses' lullaby, "Lalla, Lalla, Lalla, aut dormi, aut lacta", is recorded in a scholium on Persius and may be the oldest to survive.
Many medieval English verses associated with the birth of Jesus take the form of a lullaby, including "Lullay, my liking, my dere son, my sweting" and may be versions of contemporary lullabies. However, most of those used today date from the 17th century. For example, a well known lullaby such as "Rock-a-bye, baby on a tree top", cannot be found in records until the late-18th century when it was printed by John Newbery (c. 1765).

The film documents the notorious graffiti legend, Stephen "ESPO" Powers as he returns to his old stomping grounds in Philadelphia to paint a series of murals on 50 rooftops along the Market train line. The film also weaves in the fictional narrative of FIRE, a young graffiti king who is fresh out of prison on a quest to win back the love and attention of his ex girlfriend. A Love Letter For You mixes a local cast with real-life characters as they rediscover the soul of West Philly and it's dynamic community. The film is a multi-faceted project by Stephen Powers with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and is sponsored by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative. The murals have garnered international attention and been published in a coffee table book, featured in a gallery exhibition and generated community education workshops.

This is an excellent video on taming small animals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgUKGSiLAYw&list;=UU1sVnwXAjct1g2oaFojIpnA Additional Info: Moving/catching a mouse: If your mouse panics when it sees your hand coming for it, do not grab at it, instead use the paper towel roll method to catch and move it. Put the roll in the cage in a place you know your mouse will most likely go when frightened. Gently herd the mouse towards this place. When the mouse goes into the roll, put your hands over the openings and move your mouse. This is much less stressful to your mouse, you do not want it to associate your hands with fear. Once your mouse trusts you more and is more relaxed, then you can scoop it up gently by placing your hands on either side of it and moving them under the mouse. Unless y...
Our pet mice love to explore a rodent-proof bathroom made into a playtime area! We picked up four female mice on Tuesday 3rd February 2015, and after a couple of days settling in it was time to play! This is their second ever outing outside of their cage. I try to cover as much floor space as I can with toys and things to make them feel safer. They are very shy to begin with but curiosity gets the better of them and they are soon all exploring and checking everything out! We have Luna the all black mouse, Biscuit the brown (agouti) mouse, Efie the black & white mouse and Pixie the tiny white & grey mouse. They are roughly two months old and range between 11g and 18g. Nora took to the baby mice almost immediately. Young mice like Nora often help out with baby care in their family and Nora could not have been a better aunty. Nora is one of the best natured mice I have had so far and one of my favorites :) The baby mice were rescued from the pet store where they were to become snake food...... How come the mice
All the cute ones with their furry little suits on
The gals and misters with the pretty little whiskers
All want to stay?
What's with the mice
Are they Catholic with those families?
Enough said... I confront them
With a minimum of bloodshed
The "Have-a-Heart" way
But if you pull back to some point in the stratosphere
From that great height it's like mice we all must appear
Think of the mice
Always grateful when the slightest little crumb drops
Finding dinner in the dreadlocks of the dust mop
Never too proud
(Maybe we should be more like
Mice) not as noisy as a chipmunk or a squirrel
If they argue it's completely intramural
