The BlueBRIDGE January workshop report is out: discover how BlueBRIDGE and e-infrastructures can boost Blue Growth
The aim of the January BlueBRIDGE workshop “Understanding how ecosystems of e-infrastructures can boost Blue Growth” was to showcase how the Blue Growth sector is benefitting from the BlueBRIDGE services and to discuss opportunities related to data management with e-infrastructures. The workshop brought together over 50 stakeholders operating in the Blue Growth sector with data management challenges needing integrated solutions. We have captured all the main findings in the event report.
What they say about us
The development of the BlueBRIDGE smart solutions will importantly support decision-makers involved in the ecosystem approach to fisheries and aquaculture management, by facilitating the knowledge production chain from the initial phases of data collection, through to aggregation, analysis and the production of indicators for competent authorities and investors.
In recent years our customers coming from the aquaculture sector became more and more aware of the fact that in order for an aquaculture enterprise to remain viable and profitable, it must be environmentally sound and able to monitor its performance. By integrating some of the analysis and simulation algorithms of our own company software into the BlueBRIDGE infrastructure, we can enhance our data services better, supporting aquaculture producers to answer their main concern: how can I maximize the growth rate of my livestock by minimizing the production costs?
A common challenge for educators is to set up scientific training that allow students to execute, in parallel, data and processing intensive experiments. Not all institutes have the capability and the resources to support these kind of courses. BlueBRIDGE offers a unique opportunity to professors and educators to set up VREs to run training sessions by exploiting the infrastrcture facilities.
Usually students are presented with theoretical information about data and computational e-infrastructures. With BlueBRIDGE they are able to see how different sets of marine data can be easily accessed and processed with different analytical tools providing them with efficient instruments to support their daily research.
We are now facing a set of challenges that we think the BlueBRIDGE services and technologies can help us to address. In particular, BlueBRIDGE can support the process of Ecopath model creation, homogenize data access irrespective of data source, support the process of data conversion from original GIS data formats to a format usable by Ecospace and more.
