Death Grips

Death Grips is an experimental hip hop group from Sacramento, California, formed in 2010. The group consists of rapper/vocalist Stefan Burnett, known by his stage name MC Ride, drummer and producer Zach Hill, and co-producer Andy Morin (often erroneously referred to as Flatlander, another name the group use for their collective production work). The band's music has been characterized as drawing on hip hop, industrial, punk rock, and noise music and they have been described as "a truly important band of the twenty-first century".

The group released the mixtape Exmilitary in April 2011 and their studio debut album The Money Store the following year, both to critical acclaim. Shortly after signing to Epic Records in 2012, the group leaked their second album No Love Deep Web for free download in breach of their contract and were eventually dropped from the label. They released their third album Government Plates in 2013. Following several broken performance commitments, the group announced their "disbanding" in July 2014 along with the release of their fourth album The Powers That B. However, in March 2015 the group revealed that they "might make some more" music and later announced a world tour. Later that year, they announced their fifth official studio album titled Bottomless Pit.

Death

Death is the termination of all biological functions that sustain a living organism. Phenomena which commonly bring about death include biological aging (senescence), predation, malnutrition, disease, suicide, homicide, starvation, dehydration, and accidents or trauma resulting in terminal injury. Bodies of living organisms begin to decompose shortly after death. Death has commonly been considered a sad or unpleasant occasion, due to the termination of social and familial bonds with the deceased or affection for the being that has died. Other concerns include fear of death, necrophobia, anxiety, sorrow, grief, emotional pain, depression, sympathy, compassion, solitude, or saudade.

Etymology

The word death comes from Old English deað, which in turn comes from Proto-Germanic *dauthuz (reconstructed by etymological analysis). This comes from the Proto-Indo-European stem *dheu- meaning the "Process, act, condition of dying".

Associated terms

The concept and symptoms of death, and varying degrees of delicacy used in discussion in public forums, have generated numerous scientific, legal, and socially acceptable terms or euphemisms for death. When a person has died, it is also said they have passed away, passed on, expired, or are gone, among numerous other socially accepted, religiously specific, slang, and irreverent terms. Bereft of life, the dead person is then a corpse, cadaver, a body, a set of remains, and when all flesh has rotted away, a skeleton. The terms carrion and carcass can also be used, though these more often connote the remains of non-human animals. As a polite reference to a dead person, it has become common practice to use the participle form of "decease", as in the deceased; another noun form is decedent. The ashes left after a cremation are sometimes referred to by the neologism cremains, a portmanteau of "cremation" and "remains".

It Goes, It Goes (Forever & Ever)

It Goes, It Goes (Forever & Ever) is the debut album by Dublin band Halves. It was released late 2010 in Ireland (and June 2011 in UK/Europe) through the band's own record label 'Hateistheenemy'.

Recording

Recorded in the legendary Hotel2Tango studios in Montreal (housed in a former alarm factory beside a freight railroad) and tracked over two sunny weeks in August 2009, It Goes, It Goes (Forever & Ever) was created with the use of the studio's vast collection of instruments, amps, organs, effects (most of which dated from 1930's-1980's). Eleven songs were recorded live, in one large room on 2" reel-to-reel tape by Efrim Menuck (Godspeed You! Black Emperor), Howard Bilerman and Radwan Moumneh.

On returning to Ireland additional recording resumed with Richard McCullough in the band's own studio 'The Windfarm' and in various locations nationwide. Guest performers on the record include: Amy Millan (Stars/Broken Social Scene), Katie Kim, Phil Boughton (Subplots), Canadian harpist Elaine Kelly-Canning, Irish Chamber brass and string players and twenty-seven members of the Kilkenny choir.

The Money Store

The Money Store is a mortgage lending brand owned by MLD Mortgage Inc. A consumer finance company that is based in Florham Park, New Jersey with offices nationwide.

History

Originally founded in 1967 as The Money Store, Inc by Alan Turtletaub. The company was based in Union, New Jersey but most of its corporate employees were based in West Sacramento, California. It specialized in sub-prime home equity loans, and also was a large Small Business Administration lender. Alan was succeeded as president by this son, Marc Turtletaub. In 1991, the company went public, and in 1997 was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Baseball Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto (with his "holy cow" ad) was a longtime advertising pitchman for the company. He was then followed by Jim Palmer, another Hall of Famer. Four known commercials also featured his wife Joni Palmer. The company was sold to First Union Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., for $2.1 billion in June 1998. First Union closed the company two years later, at a loss of $1.7 billion, as a result of a shakeout in the sub-prime market. However, the student loan division, Educaid, and the SBA loan division were retained by First Union.
