A volcano is a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface.
Earth's volcanoes occur because its crust is broken into 17 major, rigid tectonic plates that float on a hotter, softer layer in its mantle. Therefore, on Earth, volcanoes are generally found where tectonic plates are diverging or converging. For example, a mid-oceanic ridge, such as the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, has volcanoes caused by divergent tectonic plates pulling apart; the Pacific Ring of Fire has volcanoes caused by convergent tectonic plates coming together. Volcanoes can also form where there is stretching and thinning of the crust's interior plates, e.g., in the East African Rift and the Wells Gray-Clearwater volcanic field and Rio Grande Rift in North America. This type of volcanism falls under the umbrella of "plate hypothesis" volcanism. Volcanism away from plate boundaries has also been explained as mantle plumes. These so-called "hotspots", for example Hawaii, are postulated to arise from upwelling diapirs with magma from the core–mantle boundary, 3,000 km deep in the Earth. Volcanoes are usually not created where two tectonic plates slide past one another.
Volcano Bay is an upcoming water park to be constructed as part of the Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida. Volcano Bay will replace Wet 'n Wild as Universal Orlando's water park, and it will be the first constructed by Universal Orlando itself. The park, themed around a central volcano, is scheduled to open in 2017.
In February 2015, Universal Orlando Resort officials submitted plans for a new water park attraction to be located on their property near the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Construction was already underway when Universal Orlando officially announced the project, and its name, on May 28, 2015. In June 2015, it was revealed that the park would replace the Universal-owned Wet 'n Wild water park, which is set to close in December 2016.
Volcano Bay is being constructed on approximately 53 acres (21 ha) of the resort complex's overall property. Artist's concepts show a thrill slide coming from the park's central volcano, as well as a wave pool and other water slides. A lazy river and rapids slide are also shown on the plans, although park officials have stated they will reveal all of the park's planned attractions at a later date.
An amusement park (sometimes referred to as a funfair) or theme park is a group of entertainment attractions, rides, and other events in a location for the enjoyment of large numbers of people. Amusement parks have a fixed location, as opposed to travelling funfairs and traveling carnivals, and are more elaborate than simple city parks or playgrounds, usually providing attractions meant to cater specifically to certain age groups, as well as some that are aimed towards all ages. Theme parks, a specific type of amusement park, are usually much more intricately themed to a certain subject or group of subjects than normal amusement parks.
Amusement parks evolved from European fairs and pleasure gardens, which were created for people's recreation. World's fairs and expositions were another influence on the development of the amusement park industry.
In common language, the terms theme park and amusement park are often synonymous. However, a theme park can be regarded as a distinct style of amusement park. A theme park has landscaping, buildings, and attractions that are based on one or more specific themes or stories. Despite many older parks adding themed rides and areas, qualifying the park as a theme park, the first park built with the original intention of promoting a specific theme, Santa Claus Land, in Santa Claus, Indiana, did not open until 1946.Disneyland, located in Anaheim, California, built around the concept of encapsulating multiple theme parks into a single amusement park is often mistakenly cited as the first themed amusement park, but is instead the park that made the idea popular.
The Universal Orlando Resort, commonly known as Universal Orlando, is a theme park resort in Orlando, Florida. It is wholly owned by NBCUniversal and its affiliates. Universal Orlando is the largest property operated by Universal Parks & Resorts, is the largest resort in Orlando, Florida, and is the second-largest resort in Greater Orlando after Walt Disney World.
Over 1900 people work at Universal Orlando. Universal Orlando consists of two theme parks (Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure), a night-time entertainment complex (Universal CityWalk Orlando), and four Loews Hotels (Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, Hard Rock Hotel, Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Cabana Bay Beach Resort).
New Zealand (/njuːˈziːlənd/ new-ZEE-lənd, Māori: Aotearoa [aɔˈtɛaɾɔa]) is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. The country geographically comprises two main landmasses – that of the North Island, or Te Ika-a-Māui, and the South Island, or Te Waipounamu – and numerous smaller islands. New Zealand is situated some 1,500 kilometres (900 mi) east of Australia across the Tasman Sea and roughly 1,000 kilometres (600 mi) south of the Pacific island areas of New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. Because of its remoteness, it was one of the last lands to be settled by humans. During its long isolation, New Zealand developed a distinctive biodiversity of animal, fungal and plant life. The country's varied topography and its sharp mountain peaks, such as the Southern Alps, owe much to the tectonic uplift of land and volcanic eruptions. New Zealand's capital city is Wellington, while its most populous city is Auckland.
Somewhere between 1250 and 1300 CE, Polynesians settled in the islands that were to become New Zealand, and developed a distinctive Māori culture. In 1642, Abel Tasman, a Dutch explorer, became the first European to sight New Zealand. In 1840, representatives of the British Crown and Māori Chiefs signed the Treaty of Waitangi, making New Zealand a British colony. Today, the majority of New Zealand's population of 4.5 million is of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority, followed by Asians and Pacific Islanders. Reflecting this, New Zealand's culture is mainly derived from Māori and early British settlers, with recent broadening arising from increased immigration. The official languages are English, Māori and New Zealand Sign Language, with English predominant.

The grand opening day of Volcano Bay, Universal Orlando's Water Theme Park, is finally here! We were invited to the #UOAP annual passholder event where we got to see the grand opening ceremony. The Today Show was there with a few WWE Superstars. Then we made our way into the park to experience the new water slides and water coaster. We also tried some of the island inspired food and drink items. Even though we had a few set backs through out the day, we still enjoyed Volcano Bay! We'll definitely be back soon. So I saw all of these pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do something that is not news footage but something more cinematic. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get. Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day. I am of course accepting sponsors to send me back there for more please...!! haha Music: Jónsi - Kolniður (http://jonsi.com) Canon 5d mkII HUGE thanks for the Motorized Dolly via Dynamic Perception (h...
It is with mixed emotions we release this film. Our good friend and absolute champion of a person, Kelly "McGazza" McGarry, passed away recently, before he could see this film completed. We shot this film on White Island in January in association with Tourism New Zealand as a promotion for Crankworx Rotorua, an event that Kelly helped make a reality. Kelly was an inspiration to so many. He easily takes the prize for being the happiest, most stoked and genuine athlete we have ever filmed with. We hope he enjoys the film. The Kelly McGarry memorial trust: Kelly McGarry was a hugely influential and inspirational character on the bike and off his bike, touching the lives of bikers, trail builders and youth in New Zealand and around the world. The trust will advocate for and build mountain ...
Lava from Kilauea Volcano flows to the Pacific Ocean. Thank you for watching, www.instagram.com/MetronFilms www.facebook.com/MetronFilms _________________________________________________________ I hiked to see the Lava and to make one scene with very dramatic mood for another project I started working on. Once I reached it first time and saw it I made the decision to hike to lava again on two more evenings, and every time got closer and closer to it. I got some Lava shots which I wanted to share now. It was a heat test for camera, tripod, shoes and for myself.
In this lesson, you will explore the creation of a volcano using Houdini's Pyro FX tools. Starting with the volcano shelf tool, you will see what you can get out of the box then dive into the network to customize the look. You will learn about some of the key Pyro FX tools while learning how to define velocity fields to sculpt and shape your volcano's plume.
Originally this was my Christmas project... which maybe got a little bit out of hand. Wanted to do a volcano sim for a while now. Grid size: 918,1107,1852 (maximum of the adaptive Grid) Sim time for the main plume: around 30 hrs Render time: around 35 hrs no retiming
Swamp water's cheap
And nothing is sweeter
Than the taste of the world being strange
If we cannot stand around then I watched it come unglued
Wonder how it got so deranged
He moves to the inside
Of a giant silver train
On the trail of a monster
On a silent, silver train
Walk is the same
And eyes still imported with magic dust
That sparkles like the rain
Somewhere between in a house of dirty mirrors
And only fingerprints remain unchanged
He moves to the inside
Of a giant silver train
On the trail of a monster
On a silent, silver train
And all that you hear is the science of the ages
And history leaves only those to blame
And in this bay of mirrors
What you see gets turned to shit
And only your persuasion remains the same
And it moves to the inside
Of a giant silver train
On the trail of the monster
On a silent, silver train
And it moves to the inside
Of a giant silver train
On the trail of the monster
