It features 45's played from vinyl by: Bob Morrison; Mike Rabin & The Demons; The Leaves Of Grass; Tony Rivers and the Castaways; Barry Mann; The Majority; Don Lee Wilson; The Renaissance; Rick Nelson; The Tony Jackson Group; The New Wing Featuring DAVY PETERS & Music by The Sons Of Adam; The Loose Ends; Love Society; One; The Lime; Tom Northcott; Lords Of London; Chris McClure; San Francisco Earthquake; The Collection.

In part two, an artist spotlight on Anthony & The Imperials, shedding light on their post-1966 recordings (when they dropped the "Little" from their moniker and explored straight-up soft pop and even baroque sounds, ala the Left Banke with producer Teddy Randazzo). A fascinating glimpse at yet another 1950's artist making contemporary '60s music.

Wednesday at 8 - Andy Rasmussen & San Diego Girls on Crayons to Perfume!

The Groves family, and Andy Rasmussen (in the plaid shirt) with GME/Musette Records - their family legacy.

Today on Crayons to Perfume! my special guest will be San Diego musician, music historian and record collector. Andy and I met in the early 90's, back when we published fanzines. Andy was one of the founding members of the legendary surf & instro combo the Bomboras, along with San Diego psych outfit the Loons. We finally met when the Loons played at Fuzz Fest in Atlanta, and now we are living in the same city! Andy was also in the latin influenced Americana Sleepwalkers and now has Action Andy & The Hi Tones and his own Relampa-go go Records label. A few months ago Andy surprised me by asking if I knew any of the San Diego girls. GIRL "s". There was more than one? Actually I didn't really know of any, to me they had just been Southern California girls - and so it was agreed that Andy should join me on Crayons to Perfume! to spin a few of his San Diego girls, some of which will be on his forthcoming compilation album 'Look Out!' - the history of San Diego Rock'n'Roll. Many of the girls today come from National City - a suburb of San Diego, and it's closely neighboring Imperial Beach, both booming in the mid-60's. The best known group within the city was probably The Accents, featuring singer Sandi Rouse from Mount Helix High School in the suburb of La Mesa. They released a handful of records Here's one of their slower numbers from 1964.

Also featured today is singer Jamie Horton who had a varied career, starting as a child singer in the 50's releasing records under her real name Gayla Peevey, in Oklahoma. Gayla eventually attended San Diego State University where she changed her stage name to Jamie Horton and released a few more records before getting married and starting her own advertising company.

We'll also hear Angie Kay with her group the Keys who released two singles for San Diego's Globe label in 1962, both with a teen girl group sound.

Tune in Wednesday at 8, right HERE! for San Diego Girls!
