Hawaii News Now (also abbreviated as HNN) is the name of the news department shared by three television stations in Honolulu, Hawaii: CBS affiliate KGMB (channel 5), MyNetworkTV affiliate KFVE (channel 9) and NBC affiliate KHNL (channel 13). The newscasts are produced by Raycom Media, which owns KGMB and KHNL and operates KFVE (owned by MCG Capital Corporation) through a shared services agreement. It also has a partnership with KBFD, which uses KGMB's taped on the field stories during KBFD's 11 p.m Korean-language newscast with Korean language subtitles.
KGMB's news department started shortly after it signed on the air in 1952, and had the highest-rated of the Honolulu market's newscasts for most of its first 25 years; after sports director Joe Moore joined KHON-TV (channel 2) in 1978, KHON overtook KGMB for the lead, with KGMB's newscasts placing either second or third in the ratings for the next three decades. KHNL had run newscasts intermittently since signing on as independent station KTRG in 1962, it formed its longest-running news department to date in April 1995 as a Fox affiliate with the launch of a 9 p.m. newscast (that was simulcast on KFVE until January 1996, when it became exclusive to the latter station); KHNL added newscasts at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. during the summer and fall of 1995, with the addition of a weekday morning newscast after it joined NBC on January 1, 1996.

Hawaii (English pronunciation: i/hÉ™Ë?waɪʲi/ hÉ™-WY-(y)ee; locally, [hÉ™Ë?wÉ?(ÉŞ)Ę”i]; Hawaiian: HawaiĘ»i [hÉ™Ë?vÉ?jĘ”i]) is the 50th and most recent state of the United States of America, receiving statehood on August 21, 1959. Hawaii is the only U.S. state located in Oceania and the only one composed entirely of islands. It is the northernmost island group in Polynesia, occupying most of an archipelago in the central Pacific Ocean. Hawaii is the only U.S. state not located in the Americas. The state does not observe daylight saving time.
The state encompasses nearly the entire volcanic Hawaiian archipelago, which comprises hundreds of islands spread over 1,500 miles (2,400 km). At the southeastern end of the archipelago, the eight main islands are—in order from northwest to southeast: NiĘ»ihau, KauaĘ»i, OĘ»ahu, MolokaĘ»i, LÄ?naĘ»i, KahoĘ»olawe, Maui and the Island of HawaiĘ»i. The last is the largest island in the group; it is often called the "Big Island" or "HawaiĘ»i Island" to avoid confusion with the state or archipelago. The archipelago is physiographically and ethnologically part of the Polynesian subregion of Oceania.
Civil defense, civil defence (see spelling differences) or civil protection is an effort to protect the citizens of a state (generally non-combatants) from military attack. It uses the principles of emergency operations: prevention, mitigation, preparation, response, or emergency evacuation and recovery. Programs of this sort were initially discussed at least as early as the 1920s and were implemented in some countries during the 1930s as the threat of war and aerial bombardment grew. It became widespread after the threat of nuclear weapons was realized.
Since the end of the Cold War, the focus of civil defense has largely shifted from military attack to emergencies and disasters in general. The new concept is described by a number of terms, each of which has its own specific shade of meaning, such as crisis management, emergency management, emergency preparedness, contingency planning, emergency services, and civil protection.
In some countries, civil defense is seen as a key part of "total defense". For example, in Sweden, the Swedish word totalförsvar refers to the commitment of a wide range of resources of the nation to its defense - including to civil protection. Respectively, some countries (notably the Soviet Union) may have or have had military-organized civil defense units (Civil Defense Troops) as part of their armed forces or as a paramilitary service.

HAWAII ISSUES FALSE MISSILE ATTACK ALERT – NOW WE KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED Source and content: https://goo.gl/gyhs6x This morning, Hawaii’s civil defense system issued a warning to residents of an “inbound missile threat.” The text warning was sent out by phone to all of the state’s residents, and an agonizing 37 minutes later, they learned it was a false alarm. Now, authorities have revealed how such a incredible mistake could have been made, and it will give little solace to those who lived through it. According to multiple media reports, the missile threat was sent out by an idiotic Civil Defense employee who hit the wrong button while ending his shift and handing his post over to another individual. It is unclear why it took so long for the mistake to be discovered. To make matters worse...

Since we have been having such good luck with the recent audits of military bases I wanted to check out the US Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point located in Kalaeloa, Hawaii just south of Kapolei, Hawaii. I was met with a very aggressive private security guard that not only did not know the law regarding public photography from a publically accessible area, but he even had the gall to claim that HE WAS THE LAW. This security guard is clearly a law enforcement reject that has let the tin badge he wears go to his head. Unfortunately, I let this guard get under my skin today as you will see from my response to him. As I attempted to walk away from him to continue filming the base he revved his engine as though he was going to run over me with his car. Then he made a racial slur that I ne...
