16 mm film is a popular, economical gauge of film. 16 mm is the width of the film. Other common film gauges include 8 mm and 35 mm. It is generally used for non-theatrical (e.g., industrial, educational) film making or for low budget motion pictures. It also existed as a popular amateur or home movie making format for several decades, alongside 8 mm film and, later, Super 8 mm film. In 1923, Eastman Kodak released the first 16 mm "outfit" consisting of a camera, projector, tripod, screen and splicer for $335. RCA-Victor introduced a 16 mm sound movie projector in 1932 and developed an optical sound-on-film 16 mm camera, released in 1935.
Eastman Kodak introduced 16 mm film in 1923 as a less expensive amateur alternative to 35 mm film. During the 1920s, the format was often referred to as sub-standard by the professional industry.
Kodak hired Willard Beech Cook from his 28 mm Pathescope of America company to create the new 16 mm Kodascope Library. In addition to making home movies, people could buy or rent films from the library, a key selling aspect of the format.
In folklore, mythology, and modern media such as literary fiction, a ghost (sometimes known as a spectre [British English] or specter [American English], phantom, apparition, spirit, spook, or haunt) is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear, in visible form or other manifestation, to the living. Descriptions of the apparition of ghosts vary widely from an invisible presence to translucent or barely visible wispy shapes, to realistic, lifelike visions. The deliberate attempt to contact the spirit of a deceased person is known as necromancy, or in spiritism as a séance.
The belief in manifestations of the spirits of the dead is widespread, dating back to animism or ancestor worship in pre-literate cultures. Certain religious practices—funeral rites, exorcisms, and some practices of spiritualism and ritual magic—are specifically designed to rest the spirits of the dead. Ghosts are generally described as solitary essences that haunt particular locations, objects, or people they were associated with in life, though stories of phantom armies, ghost trains, ghost ships, and even ghost animals have also been recounted.
This was an exercise in Music Video for the New York Film Academy 6-week program. Shot with 16mm black and white reversal, IS0 100, 4:3; edited in Adobe Premiere and After Effects CS4. Notes: A lot of footage was taken on the fly with a general concept of the video, a few of which were planned for. Could definitely be improved upon with more time editing, but I lost interest. Listening to a song a hundred times in a row can get pretty nauseating. The general concept is "nature confined by man," but some people don't get that at the offset (though it seems pretty obvious to me). DIRECTOR/DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY: Isaiah Everin MUSIC BY: Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), off the album "Ghosts I-IV" CREW: Beatrice Januário Marta Vismara

Episode 1 of the television show Haunted Wisconsin. This episode focuses on the apparent hauntings and ghost sightings at Baird Creek Shot with Canon 50mm and Rokinon 16mm on Canon 50D. Edited in Premiere Pro and After Effects. Exported with Media Encoder.
A stop-motion animation about a haunted train in the Old West. I shot it on 16mm film, using a Bolex. All the models are paper. I used illustrations I had done, and cut the pieces out, then glued wires to the back so they could hold their poses while I shot a frame of animation. All the ghosts were done on greenscreen (aka green posterboard). I also had the privilege of using a Nagra reel-to-reel tape recorded to capture, in gloriously rich analogue, the sounds of a real steam train in Colorado, and all my foley and voices. Also, paper mache is a lifesaver :)
