Indiana University (IU) is a multi-campus public university system in the state of Indiana, United States. Indiana University has a combined student body of more than 110,000 students, including approximately 46,000 students enrolled at the Indiana University Bloomington campus and approximately 31,000 students enrolled at the Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.
The "core campuses" of Indiana University are located in Bloomington and Indianapolis.
Indiana i/ɪndiˈænə/ is a U.S. state located in the midwestern and Great Lakes regions of North America. Indiana is the 38th largest by area and the 16th most populous of the 50 United States. Its capital and largest city is Indianapolis. Indiana was admitted to the United States as the 19th U.S. state on December 11, 1816.
Before becoming a territory, varying cultures of indigenous peoples and historic Native Americans inhabited Indiana for thousands of years. Since its founding as a territory, settlement patterns in Indiana have reflected regional cultural segmentation present in the Eastern United States; the state's northernmost tier was settled primarily by people from New England and New York, Central Indiana by migrants from the Mid-Atlantic states and from adjacent Ohio, and Southern Indiana by settlers from the Southern states, particularly Kentucky and Tennessee.
Indiana has a diverse economy with a gross state product of $298 billion in 2012. Indiana has several metropolitan areas with populations greater than 100,000 and a number of smaller industrial cities and towns. Indiana is home to several major sports teams and athletic events including the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, the NASL's Indy Eleven, the NBA's Indiana Pacers, the WNBA's Indiana Fever, the Indianapolis 500, and Brickyard 400 motorsports races.
Derek Vincent Smith (born November 25, 1981) is an American electronic music artist who performs under the stage name Pretty Lights, originally a duo project consisting of him and Michal Menert, who left after the release of their first album. Smith is also the proprietor of an associated music label, Pretty Lights Music.
Smith started skateboarding with Michal Menert in the 8th grade. The pair, together with a drummer Menert knew, began making music after Smith brought a bass guitar to a skating session. Paul Brandt (Paul Basic) eventually replaced their original drummer. Calling themselves "The Freeze", the band consisted of Derek Vincent Smith on the bass guitar, Michal Menert on the guitar and keyboard, and Paul Brandt on the drums. The group was influenced by artists like the Beastie Boys, Tha Alkaholiks, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu-Tang Clan, The Roots, and The Casualties as well as by old school hip hop, funk, punk rock, and the skater culture. The band placed second in a community battle of bands in their sophomore year. After graduating from high school, Smith attended University of Colorado at Boulder, but dropped out during his freshman year to focus on his music instead.

As the sun set and the crowd got antsy for Pretty Lights, stage crews came on and began to set things up for the rest of the evening. Gentlemen with big boxes came out to the press pit and opened them up to show thousands of glow sticks. I’m sure you’ll be able to guess what happens next. Thousands of glow sticks, blown up beach balls and then some were thrown into the crowd. This was met with loud cheers and chants of “Pretty Lights, Pretty Lights, Pretty Lights”. The sun had finally set, the stage was a go and then the music came on. This was my first Pretty Lights show so I was a little unsure of what to expect but I had painted a picture in my head and that picture turned out to be exactly what I saw. The crowd was glowing a multitude of colors due to the glow sticks and glowing beach ...
