Jerome Young (born August 14, 1976) in Clarendon, Jamaica, is a former sprint athlete. He was caught doping in 1999, and was ultimately banned from the sport, which cast suspicious shadows over his entire track & field career.
He attended A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford, Connecticut. In 1995, as a senior in high school, Jerome set a Connecticut state record of 45.01 in the 400 m. He was Track and Field News "High School Athlete of the Year" in 1995.
Jerome was part of the world record breaking 4 x 400 metres relay team in 1998 along with Michael Johnson, Antonio Pettigrew, and Tyree Washington.
On June 29, 2004 the IAAF announced the following:
The effect of the decision was to negate all his results from 26 June 1999 to 25 June 2001, and to ban him permanently from the date of the decision. Accordingly, he and his teammates were stripped of their 2000 Olympic medal in the 4x400 m relay.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport reinstated the 2000 Olympic gold for Jerome's relay teammates in 2005. Jerome had not run in the final; he had only run in one of the qualifying heats.
Saint Jerome (/dʒəˈroʊm/; Latin: Eusebius Sophronius Hieronymus; Greek: Εὐσέβιος Σωφρόνιος Ἱερώνυμος; c. 347 – 30 September 420) was a priest, confessor, theologian and historian, who also became a Doctor of the Church. He was the son of Eusebius, born at Stridon, a village near Emona on the border of Dalmatia and Pannonia, then part of northeastern Italy. He is best known for his translation of most of the Bible into Latin (the translation that became known as the Vulgate), and his commentaries on the Gospels. His list of writings is extensive. The protégé of Pope Damasus I, who died in December of 384, Jerome was known for his teachings on Christian moral life, especially to those living in cosmopolitan centers such as Rome. In many cases, he focused his attention to the lives of women and identified how a woman devoted to Jesus Christ should live her life. This focus stemmed from his close patron relationships with several prominent female ascetics who were members of affluent senatorial families.
Jerome Young (born January 5, 1963) is an American semi-retired professional wrestler, better known by his stage name New Jack in ECW. Young is known for his willingness to take dangerous bumps and his stiff hardcore wrestling style, often taking high risks and "shooting" on opponents. He is also known for having his theme song ("Natural Born Killaz" by Ice Cube and Dr. Dre) play throughout his matches in ECW. The inspiration for his ring name came from the movie New Jack City.
Young trained under Ray Candy and debuted in 1992 in the Memphis, Tennessee-based United States Wrestling Association (USWA), where he adopted the name New Jack. He went on to form a tag team, The Gangstas, with Mustafa Saed and D-Lo Brown in Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW). The Gangstas took part in several controversial angles, on one occasion using affirmative action to enable them to win matches with a two count pinfall as opposed to the conventional three count. They engaged in a long feud with the Rock 'N Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson). During their stint, the NAACP would picket outside the performance venues because of the "Gangsta" gimmick, claiming that no racial violence had occurred in the Tennessee area for years, and they did not want the reputation of gangsters to be put into the Tennessee area.
Breaking Kayfabe is the debut album by Canadian rapper Cadence Weapon, released in 2005 on Upper Class Recordings. It was also released in the United States by Anti-Records on March 13, 2007. Breaking kayfabe is a professional wrestling term for "breaking character".
The album was shortlisted for the 2006 Polaris Music Prize. However, it lost to Final Fantasy's He Poos Clouds.
Breaking Kayfabe garnered highly positive reviews from music critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 80, based on 9 reviews.
