Mathilde Stangerson delays marrying Robert Darzac, as she wants to continue to aide her father, a scientist, in his experiments. Later, on the evening of her engagement announcement, Mathilde leaves her father in his laboratory at midnight, and goes to her adjoining yellow room. The professor, hearing gunshots and screaming, breaks Mathilde's locked door to find her bloodied, and the room in disarray, with papers of their studies stolen. How the assailant escaped the room, with a locked door and windows secured with iron shutters, is a mystery which baffles the renowned police detective Frederic Larsan, and cub reporter Rouletabille, assigned to the case. While Larsan investigates at the house, the professor's gamekeeper is murdered. Although clues lead to Robert, who, when arrested, refuses to explain his actions, Rouletabille returns from America to interrupt the trial with the solution to the mystery and prove that Larsan is the killer.

"Peg o' My Heart" is a comedy-drama starring Laurette Taylor, Mahlon Hamilton, Russell Simpson, Ethel Grey Terry, Vera Lewis, Lionel Belmore and others. A young rebellious girl is forced to live in the gloomy mansion of her estranged aunt. The film was created by the renowned director King Vidor.
This is the first of only three films with Laurette Taylor, and the only one available, so this is the only performance of this actress that can be seen today. She played the role of a teenager very convincingly, although she was 38 at the time.

Filmoteca dedica una nueva semana a LON CHANEY, un actor extraordinario que sobresalió en el período mudo. Gracias a su talento para la caracterización fue apodado “El hombre de las mil caras”.
Estrella absoluta de su tiempo, trabajó con directores relevantes y brilló especialmente en los films que realizó con el genial Tod Browning, sentó las bases en el campo del maquillaje cinematográfico, y puso el cuerpo hasta la agonía en algunas de las bizarras caracterizaciones.
Sus personajes inolvidables conforman una galería oscura de tullidos, mutilados y criminales, torturados y monstruosos en cuerpo y alma, pero también capaces de redención.
Esta semana se abre con la curiosidad del único film sonoro protagonizado por Chaney, donde presto su voz a varios personajes, mostrando que, además del hombre de las mil caras, también podía ser el de las mil voces.

Synopsis
À la suite d'un accident de la circulation, un enfant est amputé des deux jambes par le docteur Ferris ; le jeune garçon apprend, quelques heures plus tard, que l'opération n'était pas indispensable à sa survie : il demeurera à jamais infirme à cause de la maladresse d'un jeune chirurgien inexpérimenté…

"Under Two Flags" is a tale of drama, romance, adventure and intrigue starring Priscilla Dean, James Kirkwood, John Davidson, Stuart Holmes, Ethel Grey Terry and others. The events in the film occur in North Africa during the French colonial rule. The film was created by the renowned director Tod Browning.

Ethel Grey Terry
Ethel Grey Terry (October 2, 1882 – January 6, 1931) was an American actress of the silent era.
Biography
Terry appeared in 52 films between 1914 and 1928, sometimes as a movie's leading lady but often in supporting roles during the same years. She was married to actor Carl Gerard.
She was born in Oakland, California and died in Hollywood. She was the daughter of Lillian Lawrence, a famous stage actress.
Her most frequently remembered role today was her appearance in The Penalty in 1920 with Lon Chaney.

"Peg o' My Heart" is a comedy-drama starring Laurette Taylor, Mahlon Hamilton, Russell Simpson, Ethel Grey Terry, Vera Lewis, Lionel Belmore and others. A young rebellious girl is forced to live in the gloomy mansion of her estranged aunt. The film was created by the renowned director King Vidor.
This is the first of only three films with Laurette Taylor, and the only one available, so this is the only performance of this actress that can be seen today. She played the role of a teenager very convincingly, although she was 38 at the time.

Mathilde Stangerson delays marrying Robert Darzac, as she wants to continue to aide her father, a scientist, in his experiments. Later, on the evening of her engagement announcement, Mathilde leaves her father in his laboratory at midnight, and goes to her adjoining yellow room. The professor, hearing gunshots and screaming, breaks Mathilde's locked door to find her bloodied, and the room in disarray, with papers of their studies stolen. How the assailant escaped the room, with a locked door and windows secured with iron shutters, is a mystery which baffles the renowned police detective Frederic Larsan, and cub reporter Rouletabille, assigned to the case. While Larsan investigates at the house, the professor's gamekeeper is murdered. Although clues lead to Robert, who, when arrested, refuses to explain his actions, Rouletabille returns from America to interrupt the trial with the solution to the mystery and prove that Larsan is the killer.

"Peg o' My Heart" is a comedy-drama starring Laurette Taylor, Mahlon Hamilton, Russell Simpson, Ethel Grey Terry, Vera Lewis, Lionel Belmore and others. A young rebellious girl is forced to live in the gloomy mansion of her estranged aunt. The film was created by the renowned director King Vidor.
This is the first of only three films with Laurette Taylor, and the only one available, so this is the only performance of this actress that can be seen today. She played the role of a teenager very convincingly, although she was 38 at the time.

Synopsis
À la suite d'un accident de la circulation, un enfant est amputé des deux jambes par le docteur Ferris ; le jeune garçon apprend, quelques heures plus tard, que l'opération n'était pas indispensable à sa survie : il demeurera à jamais infirme à cause de la maladresse d'un jeune chirurgien inexpérimenté…

Ethel Grey Terry
Ethel Grey Terry (October 2, 1882 – January 6, 1931) was an American actress of the silent era.
Biography
Terry appeared in 52 films between 1914 and 1928, sometimes as a movie's leading lady but often in supporting roles during the same years. She was married to actor Carl Gerard.
She was born in Oakland, California and died in Hollywood. She was the daughter of Lillian Lawrence, a famous stage actress.
Her most frequently remembered role today was her appearance in The Penalty in 1920 with Lon Chaney.
