Burns nursing care NCLEX review lecture covers burns treatment, pathophysiology, nursing interventions, degrees of burns (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th degree burns with affected skin areas), circumferential burns, different causes and types of burns, and more.
What are burns? Burns occur when there is damage to the skin integrity due to some type of energy source. Burns can be caused by various sources such as:
-Heat (thermal): hot liquids, steam, fire etc. that comes into contact with the skin…most common type.
-Electrical: electric current passes through the body and damages tissues (watch for iceberg effect), heart dysrhythmias, bone fractures (cervical spine injuries) and acute tubular necrosis.
-Chemical: toxic substances come into contact with the skin (powders, gases, or certain foods).
-Cold: coldness comes into contact with the skin for too long: frostbite
-Radiation: sun, treatments for cancer
-Friction: force abrasion to the skin….car accident…road rash, rope burn
Burn severity depends on the depth of damage to the skin (burn degree), percentage of the total body surface area (rule of nines) that is burned, patient’s age, medial history, location of the burn, and did the patient experience an inhalation injury?
-1st Degree (superficial): affects the top layer of the skin “epidermis". The skin will be very red or pink, painful, warm to touch, and has no blisters. Capillary refill is brisk.
-2nd degree can be superficial or deep depending on how far the damage occurred in the dermis (partial-thickness). These burns involve the epidermis and dermis. The burn will have redness that will blanch and be shiny red/pink and moist in areas.
-3 to 4th degree (full-thickness): for these type of burns watch for eschar (hard dead tissue that can restriction blood flow and respiratory effort) and for acute tubular necrosis because myoglobin and hemoglobin can be released into circulation and go to the kidneys and block perfusion, which leads to acute kidney injury.
-3rd degree burns affect all skin layers to the subcutaneous fat (hypodermis). The burn can be yellow, red, and black. It will appear dry rather than moist/shiny. Pain sensation is gone or decreased. Skin grafting is required.
-4th degree (deep full-thickness): All skin layers are affected along with the muscle, bones, and ligaments. Burn will appear charred and black. No sensation is present.
It is important to be aware of the burns location and if the burn is a circumferential burn. This type of burn circles around an area of the body. They are most dangerous on the torso and extremities.
For nursing interventions and pathophysiology of burns please watch the video.

Burns or burn. How To Treat Burns. How To treat A Burn. How To Treat A Burn Blister. How To Heal A Burn Fast.
This weeks video is on a very important topic, we're looking at how to treat burns or scalds and most importantly learning when to seek medical advice. I hope you find the information helpful and always sending those awesome vibes.
WHAT IS A BURN OR SCALD:
Burns and scalds are damage to the skin usually caused by heat. Both are treated in the same way.
A burn is caused by dry heat – by an iron or fire, for example. A scald is caused by something wet, such as hot water or steam.
Burns can be very painful and may cause:
• Red or peeling skin
• Blisters
• Swelling
• White or charred skin
The amount of pain you feel is not always related to how serious the burn is. Even a very serious burn may be relatively painless.
TREATING BURNS AND SCALDS:
To treat a burn, follow the first aid advice below:
• Immediately get the person away from the heat source to stop the burning
• Cool the burn with cool or lukewarm running water for 20 minutes – do not use ice, iced water, or any creams or greasy substances like butter
• Remove any clothing or jewellery that's near the burnt area of skin, including babies' nappies, but do not move anything that's stuck to the skin
• Make sure the person keeps warm by using a blanket, for example, but take care not to rub it against the burnt area
• Cover the burn by placing a layer of cling film over it – a clean plastic bag could also be used for burns on your hand
• Use painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen to treat any pain
• If the face or eyes are burnt, sit up as much as possible, rather than lying down – this helps to reduce swelling
• If it's an acid or chemical burn, dial 999, carefully try to remove the chemical and any contaminated clothing, and rinse the affected area using as much clean water as possible
Read more about treating burns and scalds at: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/burns-and-scalds/treatment/
WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE:
Depending on how serious a burn is, it may be possible to treat it at home.
For minor burns, keep the burn clean and do not burst any blisters that form.
More serious burns require professional medical attention.
You should go to a hospital A&E; department for:
• All chemical and electrical burns
• Large or deep burns – any burn bigger than the injured person's hand
• Burns that cause white or charred skin – any size
• Burns on the face, hands, arms, feet, legs or genitals that cause blisters
If someone has breathed in smoke or fumes, they should also seek medical attention.
Some symptoms may be delayed and can include:
• Coughing
• A sore throat
• Difficulty breathing
• Facial burns
People at greater risk from the effects of burns, such as children under 5 years old and pregnant women, should also get medical attention after a burn or scald.
The size and depth of the burn will be assessed and the affected area cleaned before a dressing is applied. In severe cases, skin graft surgery may be recommended.

FFRR was founded in 1986. The label has brought countless culturally important records across the dance music spectrum over the years including Orbital, Armand Van Helden, Salt ‘N’ Pepa, Lil Louis, Goldie to name but a few.
We continue to build on that heritage with new & exciting cutting-edge music. Since the beginning of 2020, FFRR has enjoyed success with Diplo & SIDEPIECE’s “On My Mind”, Alan Fitzpatrick vs Patrice Rushen’s “Haven’t You Heard” and Obskür’s “Bayside”. They have also welcomed artists such as Eats Everything, Sam Gellaitry and Sonny Fodera to the FFRR family.
Our mission is to release Music That Moves You.

Watch October's First Close Approach Countdown Asteroid (2001 GP2) October 1, 2020
Asteroid (2001 GP2) will be the first object to get closer than the Moon distance in October 2020. The closest distance minimum is calculated to be around 0.35 LD, which could pass close to Earth around 84,000 miles away. Not very big, only measuring around 25 meters in diameter. The object is not expected to strike Earth. Its orbital path is very interesting in which has been traveling close Earth for quite some time before it starts to get farther after this month.

SUMMARY
=======
A minor-planet moon is an astronomical object that orbits a minor planet as its natural satellite. As of February 2019, there are 352 minor planets known or suspected to have moons. Discoveries of minor-planet moons (and binary objects, in general) are important because the determination of their orbits provides estimates on the mass and density of the primary, allowing insights of their physical properties that is generally not otherwise possible. The first modern era mention of the possibility of an asteroid satellite was in connection with an occultation of the bright star Gamma Ceti by the asteroid 6 Hebe in 1977. The observer, amateur astronomer Paul D. Maley, detected an unmistakable 0.5 second disappearance of this naked eye star from a site near Victoria, Texas. Many hours later, several observations were reported in Mexico attributed to the occultation by 6 Hebe itself. Although not confirmed, this documents the first formally documented case of a suspected companion of an asteroid.

SUMMARY
=======
The following is a collection of lists of exceptional asteroids in the Solar System. For the purposes of this article "asteroid" means minor planet up to the orbit of Jupiter, which includes the dwarf planet Ceres. For a complete list of minor planets in numerical order, see List of minor planets.
Asteroids are given minor planet numbers, but not all minor planets are asteroids. Minor planet numbers are also given to objects of the Kuiper belt, which is similar to the asteroid belt but farther out around 30-60, whereas asteroids are mostly between 2-3 AU from the Sun. Also, comets are not typically included under minor planet numbers, and have there own naming methodology.
Asteroids are given a unique sequential identifying number once their orbit is precisely determined. Prior to this, they are known only by their systematic name or provisional designation, such as 1950 DA.

--- How I make my videos ---
I use Final Cut Pro on my custom built Xeon E3 Hackintosh, and film with a Canon EOS 60D. I use a pair of large fluorescent studio lights for most of my work, but may use various other types if filming away from the room I usually film in. I have a really overfilled lab, which is usually where I dig up the tech seen in my videos.

I do not claim to own any of the trademarks mentioned in my videos. Some images may be obtained from third party sources. If you need to contact me for legal reasons, please use one of the above contact methods.
--- Music ---
The music used in the Dodoid and Dodoid Advent Calendar intros is AdhesiveWombat - Bombs. Other AdhesiveWombat songs are sometimes used. This episode uses "Symphony of a Forgotten Sprite" instead of "Bombs".

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.
