Pavilion

In architecture a pavilion (from French pavillon, from Latin papilio) has two primary meanings. It can refer to a free-standing structure sited a short distance from a main residence, or within a compound, typically whose architecture makes it an object of pleasure. Large or small, in the West there is usually a connection with relaxation and pleasure in its intended use.

In the traditional architecture of Asia, palaces or other large houses may partly consist of a collection of pavilions that are not connected, or only by thin arcades, as in the Forbidden City, Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, and in the Red Fort and other buildings of Mughal architecture.

In its other primary meaning, in a symmetrical range of buildings in the classical styles, where there is a main central block – the corps de logis – the wings may end in pavilions that are emphasized in some fashion, in order to provide a full stop to the composition, like a period at the end of a sentence.

Flux Pavilion

Joshua Steele, better known by his stage name Flux Pavilion, is an English dance music record producer, singer-songwriter, DJ and label owner who has been performing since 2008.

Flux Pavilion has headlined three US tours, two UK tours, and several festival DJ sets, including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella, and EDC Vegas. He has also made live performances with Example, Foreign Beggars and Chiddy Bang. Flux has listed his sound to be inspired by The Prodigy and Rusko.

Career

Flux Pavilion co-founded Circus Records along with childhood friend Doctor P, in 2009 with the backing of D&B pioneer DJ Swan-E and Earl Falconer of UB40.

In 2011 he produced the single "Bass Cannon", which peaked at number 56 on the UK Singles Chart, and was placed on the Radio 1 A-List. Along with Doctor P, Flux Pavilion presented the 2011 compilation album Circus One, to which he contributed four tracks. He is arguably best known for his song "I Can't Stop" from the Lines in Wax EP. In February 2011, Chiddy Bang created a freestyle to the song, which has appeared on their Peanut Butter and Swelly mixtape. In August 2011, the track was sampled by producer Shama "Sak Pase" Joseph for the song "Who Gon Stop Me" by Jay-Z and Kanye West on their collaborative album Watch the Throne. On 5 March 2012, "I Can't Stop" was used in the viral Kony 2012 campaign. It was also featured in the 2012 video game SSX, the 2013 film The Great Gatsby and the trailer for Ron Howard's 2013 film Rush starring Chris Hemsworth.

Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur (/ˈkwɑːləˈlʊmpʊər/ or /-pər/; Malaysian pronunciation: [ˈkwalə ˈlumpʊr]) is the national capital and most populous global city in Malaysia. The city covers an area of 243 km² (94 sq mi) and has an estimated population of 1.6 million as of 2010.Greater Kuala Lumpur, covering similar area as the Klang Valley, is an urban agglomeration of 7.5 million people as of 2012. It is among the fastest growing metropolitan regions in South-East Asia, in terms of population and economy.

Kuala Lumpur is the seat of the Parliament of Malaysia. The city was once home to the executive and judicial branches of the federal government, but they were moved to Putrajaya in early 1999. Some sections of the judiciary still remain in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The official residence of the Malaysian King, the Istana Negara, is also situated in Kuala Lumpur. Rated as an alpha world city, Kuala Lumpur is the cultural, financial and economic centre of Malaysia due to its position as the capital as well as being a key city. Kuala Lumpur is defined within the borders of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and is one of three Malaysian Federal Territories. It is an enclave within the state of Selangor, on the central west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Since the 1990s, the city has played host to many international sporting, political and cultural events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the Formula One Grand Prix. In addition, Kuala Lumpur is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers, which have become an iconic symbol of Malaysia's futuristic development.

Bukit Bintang

Bukit Bintang (Malay [ˈbu.ket̚ ˈbi.ntaŋ]; stylized as Bintang Walk or Starhill, the latter being a translation of the Malay name) is the name of the shopping and entertainment district of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It encompasses Bukit Bintang Road and its immediate surrounding areas. The area has long been Kuala Lumpur's most prominent retail belt that is home to many landmark shopping centres, al-fresco cafés, swanky bars, night markets, as well as hawker-type eateries. This area is popular among tourists and locals, especially among the youths. A part of Bintang Walk is designated as an "Arab Street".

Location

Nestled within Kuala Lumpur's Golden Triangle, the Bukit Bintang district begins with Bukit Bintang Road which starts at Raja Chulan Road and ends at Pudu Road. The two other roads that border the Bukit Bintang district are Sultan Ismail Road which intersects it and Imbi Road at the south. Walter Grenier Road, Bulan Road, Changkat Bukit Bintang and Alor Road are considered part of the entertainment district.

HP Pavilion (computer)

HP Pavilion is a line of personal computers produced by Hewlett-Packard and introduced in 1995. The Pavilion competes with Acer Aspire, Dell Inspiron and Toshiba Satellite. The name is applied to both desktops and laptops for the Home and Home Office product range.

When HP merged with Compaq in 2002, it took over Compaq's existing naming rights agreement. As a result, HP sells both HP and Compaq-branded machines.

History

In 1995, The HP Pavilion PC marks the company's introduction into the home-computing market. Dave Packard publishes The HP Way, a book that chronicles the rise of HP and gives insight into its business practices, culture and management style. HP produces a low-cost, high-speed infrared transceiver that allows wireless data exchange in a range of portable computing applications such as phones, computers, printers, cash registers, ATMs, digital cameras and more.

The first HP Pavilion PC

The HP Pavilion 5030 was technically HP's second multimedia PC designed specifically for the home market, the first called HP Multimedia PC; model Numbers 6100, 6140S and 6170S. Pavilion went on to become a popular model. Its specifications included a quad-speed CD-ROM drive, Altec Lansing speakers, software for online service access and Microsoft Windows 95. This entry-level model featured a 75 MHz Intel Pentium processor, 8 MB RAM and an 850 MB hard drive.
