Ikutaro Kakehashi founded Roland Corporation, maker of some of my favourite musical instruments (I currently have a Juno1, EP-7II and JV1010). Following his death in 2017 the BBC World Service featured this short radio tribute to him.

Roland Corporation
The Roland Corporation (ローランド株式会社, Rōrando Kabushiki Kaisha) is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on April 18, 1972, with ¥33 million in capital. In 2005, Roland's headquarters relocated to Hamamatsu in Shizuoka Prefecture. Today it has factories in Italy, Taiwan, Japan, and the USA. As of March 31, 2010, it employed 2,699 employees. It has existed in different forms since 1960, making it relatively old among still-operating manufacturers of musical electronics. Known for hundreds of popular synthesizers, drum machines, and other instruments, Roland has been one of the top names in professional music equipment since the late 1970s.
In 2014, Roland Corporation was subject to a management buyout by Roland's CEO Junichi Miki, supported by Taiyo Pacific Partners.
Origin of the Roland name
Kakehashi founded Ace Electronic Industries in 1960, a manufacturer of numerous combo organs, guitar amplifiers, and effects pedals. He was also contracted by Hammond to produce rhythm machines for the company's line of home organs. In 1973, Kakehashi cut ties with both companies to found Roland.

Prior to consulting, Roland Hanson was Vice President of Corporate Communications at Microsoft, where he created and executed the company's highly acclaimed branding strategy which included the market introduction of Microsoft's most popular product—a graphical interface that he named "Windows." Several books published on the history of Microsoft document the strategies executed that led to the dominance of the Microsoft and Windows brands. Goal
The goal for the Forgotten Film Gallery is to unite the new with the old. Link the past to the future using the remoteness of the desert as the gallery space and the world wide web as a platform to distribute a documentary freely with the public.
Impact
By utilizing the lonely desert as an audience. Contemporary artists might continue to create freely without the fear of rejection. Sharing the film on the web will also allow the general public to recognize and value the importance of our often under appreciated past and present natural environment.

I had the occasion to work on this exciting project for TamschickMedia+Space.com together with m-box.de to create the Media facade for the Stategrid Expo Pavillon with Andreas N. Fischer (generative animation) and Daniel Huber (V4 framework development and computational design) and Veith Michel (Editing & Post).
Our task was to design and develop the functional framework, visual contents and animations for the media facade of the huge StateGrid Corporation pavilion.

BooKKeepers – A True Fiction: Kafka, Alive and Well in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2013 – GenerationTheatre premières a new production of BooKKeepers – A True Fiction, by Roland David Valayre. The production runs October 10 through October 27, 2013 at the Southside Theatre, Fort Mason Center. Curtain time is 8:00pm Thursday through Saturday, and 3:00pm on Sunday. GenerationTheatre’s production of BooKKeepers benefits from the collaboration of the Czech Consulate General and the Goethe Institut in San Francisco.
In a world full of narratives “based on a true story,” BooKKeepers is an avowedly false story that never leaves the truth out of its sight. “The idea of BooKKeepers’s fiction came to me from three true facts,” says David Valayre, who authored and directs the play. “First, I read somewhere that Nabokov believed he recognized Kafka in a Berlin tram, in 1927 – three years after Kafka’s death. I then started fantasizing about Kafka faking his own death at the sanatorium to get away from an impending unwanted marriage and his family. Second, I came across a photo of Yichzak Löwy, who was a Yiddish theater actor in Poland, and became a close friend of Kafka’s. The physical resemblance between the two men took the plot one step further: Was it Löwy or Kafka who was alive and well in Berlin, in 1937? Third, in 1937, Adolf Eichmann, master bookkeeper of the Holocaust, was in Berlin, taking Hebrew lessons from a rabbi, allegedly to “better understand” the Jews.
BooKKeepers first opened in 2010 in San Francisco, at the now-defunct Off-Market Theater. Five actors from the original cast of nine (Charles Keen, Martha Luehrmann, Nathan Putnam, Andrea Satin and Ket Watters) are part of this new production. The influx of actors new to BooKKeepers, if not to Generation Theatre (Nastassia Maltsava was “Fanny” in Marcel Pagnol’s Marius throughout August) is but one facet of this revival. “We’re constantly revisiting everything,” says Valayre. “Different set, new music, entirely new look to the play. This time, we want to tip our hat to Yichzak Löwy and the Yiddish theater of the inter-war period. Like many Yiddish plays, BooKKepers rests on a fracture in time and identity. It is a story about a story.”

Joshua Munday is considered one of the world's best Musical instrument demonstrators. Josh has worked over the past 15 years with Roland Corporation demonstrating Guitar Products Hi-Tech, Recording Products and a heap more.
In a recent interview when asked why record your first album in your 30's. Joshua's reply was simple and to the point. "I recorded the album I always wanted to hear"
Josh's influences included everything from Van Halen to the Foo Fighters. He was getting tired of where commercial music was heading. So he started a self funded journey to write and record an album in his own time that reflected his musical taste and genre.
Joshua: " I can hardly listen to the radio anymore. There is not a great representation of the music that I want to listen to. Most commercial music now is aimed at 8 to 18 year old's which is cool however not for me. I love guitar music from the 70's through to the 90's I love great melodies with vocals that mean something. A rock groove that makes you know your listening to ROCK and just as important guitar solo's. I don't profess to the best at everything. I just love what I do. I know that there is a bunch of people out there that feel the same way I do. I really hope they like the album and the songs"
