Update on the Rondy: We’re Broke!

from Earth First! Newswire

[see: Directions to the 2017 Earth First! Round River Rendezvous]

Organizing this year’s Rondy has been a fun (if slightly overwhelming) experience for the few people who have spent the past week in the woods, digging shitters, finding locations for workshops, and trying to figure out how to cause the least amount of damage to the area we will be occupying for the week. Unfortunately, despite the enormous amount of energy that has been brought, there is a dire lack of funds. Providing food, water, soap, and equipment needed for workshops and such isn’t free—hell, it isn’t even cheap, and we have exactly $0 with which to make it happen.

The location of the Rondy is one of the most amazing spots on Turtle Island—with breathtaking views of the clouds, pine, and oak trees galore, and enough wildlife to make your head spin. Still, it is appearing more and more like this will be a DIY Rondy, especially if we don’t get the funds we need to provide the basics to y’all.

This year’s set up crew is small, and we don’t have many resources, so we hope people are ready and willing to dive into all the work that needs to be done to keep a rondy up and running. In addition to the usual chores, the tiny kitchen crew is going to need a lot of help buying food, preparing it, cleaning, and hauling out any trash. If you have cooking skills or food to bring, we need you! Once there, we are also hoping people will be as self sufficient as possible, and that we can all help each other stay fed and healthy in the woods.

So please, if you are attending the Rondy, be prepared to pitch in with work around camp, organize and facilitate workshops, and definitely try to bring as much food as possible. If you can’t pitch in, fear not—you will still be fed! Also, we’re only 30-45 minutes from civ!

That said—we need money most of all! You can donate to us through the Earth First! Journal’s Paypal or by bringing cash money to the Rondy.

See you there!!
