Gautama Buddha, also known as Siddhārtha Gautama, Shakyamuni, or simply the Buddha, was a sage on whose teachings Buddhism was founded. He was born in Nepal and is believed to have lived and taught mostly in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent sometime between the sixth and fourth centuries BCE.
The word Buddha means "awakened one" or "the enlightened one". "Buddha" is also used as a title for the first awakened being in a Yuga era. In most Buddhist traditions, Siddhartha Gautama is regarded as the Supreme Buddha (Pali sammāsambuddha, Sanskrit samyaksaṃbuddha) of the present age. Gautama taught a Middle Way between sensual indulgence and the severe asceticism found in the śramaṇa movement common in his region. He later taught throughout regions of eastern India such as Magadha and Kosala.
Gautama is the primary figure in Buddhism and accounts of his life, discourses, and monastic rules are believed by Buddhists to have been summarized after his death and memorized by his followers. Various collections of teachings attributed to him were passed down by oral tradition and first committed to writing about 400 years later.

Sound of... is an annual BBC poll of music critics and industry figures to find the most promising new music talent. It was first conducted by the BBC News website in 2003, and is now widely covered by the corporation's online, radio and TV outlets, as well as other media. A 15-strong longlist is published each December, with a ranked shortlist and annual winner announced the following January.
More than 130 critics, editors and broadcasters took part in the Sound of 2009 survey, which was won by electro-pop singer Little Boots. For the first time, a longlist of 15 acts from the 2009 poll was published by the BBC on 5 December 2008. The other five acts on the longlist were The Big Pink, Frankmusik, Master Shortie, Mumford & Sons and The Temper Trap.
The longlist for the Sound of 2010 poll was revealed on 7 December 2009. The acts nominated were Daisy Dares You, Delphic, Devlin, The Drums, Everything Everything, Giggs, Gold Panda, Ellie Goulding, Hurts, Joy Orbison, Marina and the Diamonds, Owl City, Rox, Stornoway and Two Door Cinema Club. On 8 January 2010, Ellie Goulding was announced as the winner. She has since gone to reach No. 1 with her debut album Lights.
"Time" is the fourth track from the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon, and the only song on the album credited to all four members of the band, though the lyrics were written by Roger Waters. It is the final Pink Floyd song credited to all four members and the last to feature Richard Wright on lead vocals until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell. This song is about how time can slip by, but many people do not realise it until it is too late. Roger Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realisation taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews. It is noted for its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, recorded as a quadrophonic test by Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album.
Time is in the key of F# minor. Each clock at the beginning of the song was recorded separately in an antiques store. This is followed by a two-minute passage dominated by Nick Mason's drum solo, with rototoms and backgrounded by a tick-tock sound created by Roger Waters picking two muted strings on his bass. With David Gilmour singing lead on the verses and with Richard Wright singing lead on the bridges and with female singers and Gilmour providing backup vocals, the song's lyrics deal with Roger Waters' realization that life was not about preparing yourself for what happens next, but about grabbing control of your own destiny.

Plot: Four "enterprising" young men borrow a larger sum of money from the local mob with the intention of embarking on a modern-day entrepreneurship. Utterly incompetent, they lose the money like a shot, and are thus immediately thrust into the rough, provincial underground of the so-called "Kransterdam". By dealing, gambling, blackmailing and implementing other more or less ingenious ideas, they endeavour to regain the money. But if they do not return their debt with interest within seven days, the future will be all but bright for them... "After many long years of boredom at watching Slovenian films, we decided to write and make a film that would have the audiences laughing and relaxed. That would, for a change, have them entertained by a Slovenian film. We decided to make a film on urban youth in an interesting, genre-employing and most entertaining way. I believe that after "Kekec (old slovenian film)", to exaggerate somewhat, there has not been a true Slovenian youth film for years, particularly one that would employ a simple story and a great deal of black humour to depict the lives of modern youth and what life really brings to urban youngsters."

Plot: Once in the life (of drug dealing and organized crime), can anyone get out? During a brief jail stay, two half-brothers, who have rarely seen each other while growing up, connect. One of them, called 20/20 Mike because he can sense people nearby, concocts a scheme in which the two of them will steal some dope from young couriers. The heist goes awry when Billy, the junkie brother, shoots the victims of the theft. The brothers hole up in an abandoned building, and 20/20 Mike seeks help from an old cell mate, Tony, whom he thinks is out of the life. It turns out that they have stolen Tony's dope, and Tony's boss wants the two thieves dead. Is there any way out?

This is a PBS Documentary about the life of Siddhartha Gautama. Written and Directed by David Grubin (http://www.youtube.com/quantumcybermonk)
A questioner wonders, what is the difference between the way of Buddha and of Shiva? Sadhguru answers, it is not a question of difference, rather, of which aspect of Shiva that Buddha explored. He describes the way in which the spine of the spiritual process offered by Shiva was spread through the work of Agastya Muni, Buddha and others. More Videos & Blogs on Website http://www.isha.sadhguru.org Yogi, mystic and visionary, Sadhguru is a spiritual master with a difference. Mangla gets furious when she sees a servant wearing a necklace that belongs to Yashodhara. Her anger further raises when she finds out that Yashodhara herself has given the necklace that was gifted to her by Devdatt to the servant. Meanwhile Siddhartha gets unusual dreams and realises that every dream has a significant meaning and are providing him signals. Siddhartha finally decides to sit in deep meditation to get the answers he wants. During his meditation various powers try to disturb him but in vain. Siddhartha gains enlightenment and is now Gautama Buddha. Buddha wakes up from his meditation and finds various changes in himself. He realises that if he could gain enlightenment then the entire world too can do so. Buddha teaches that one must live in the present and not regret about th...

The Buddha's philosophy teaches us that our desires are at the root of our restlessness - and that calm can be achieved through willpower and spiritual exercise. If you like our films, take a look at our full shop too: https://goo.gl/aGTlez FURTHER READING “The story of the Buddha’s life, like all of Buddhism, is a story about confronting suffering. He was born between the sixth and fourth century B.C., the son of a wealthy king in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal. It was prophesied that the young Buddha — then called Siddhartha Gautama — would either become the emperor of India or a very holy man. Since Siddhartha’s father desperately wanted him to be the former, he kept the child isolated in a palace with every imaginable luxury: jewels, servants, lotus ponds, even beautiful dancing...

Radhanath Swami discusses his book "The Journey Home" with Rick Archer for his interview show "Buddha at the Gaspump"
Behind the scenes of 'Little Buddha' (1993). Interview with actor Keanu Reeves who has been generously coated in fake tan. Asked whether it is intimidating to be playing a great religious/spiritual figure such as Siddhartha. Halfway through he has a little anecdote from his travels to Kathmandu. The anecdote perfectly describes a common reaction to Keanu being cast in this role!

Happy birthday, Buddha
Happy hunting, happy hiding, happy New Year
I hope you get yourself together
I hope your absence is made clear
I first learned
There was a value in a little subterfuge
From some old peeping Tom or another woman's refuge
Came in contact with a Svengali
He was housebound and unwell
Choked on a whale bone in a Cantonese restaurant
His nervous system had broken down
