Copa Room in Miami Beach

Copa Room

Copa Room

Stage Left has some tips for you! Our weekend game plan includes a visit to a hot new nightclub called Copa Room (http://www.southbeachmagazine.com/copa-room-miami/) in Miami Beach. It’s a visual entertainment venue that presents shows and performances every half hour from 11pm to 4am. Costs $100 bucks to get in, but the drinks are free all night long! Check it out…we think you’ll like it.

Spend Earth Day at Fairchild Botanic Gardens learning all about Florida’s tropical splendors, dance to the Heavy Pets and Aquaphonics at the Stage, or spread out a blanket on South Beach to enjoy world-class polo matches by the sea. DJ Roog visits ArKadia at the Fontainebleau Resort, Nipsey Hussle brings his west coast beats to Club Play, and Dutch music producer Nick van de Wall rocks LIV nightclub all night long.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

21 Street Beach / 2100 Collins Avenue / Experience the excitement of the AMG Miami Beach Polo World Cup on the sands of South Beach from Thursday April 21-24 right by the sea! Today is a ladies match starting at 11am and tomorrow the horse parade starts at 12:30pm followed by men’s match play until 5pm. Saturday & Sunday’s games run from 2-5pm.

AltaMare / 1233 Lincoln Road / Chef Simon Stojanovic started out in the dynamic Design District kitchen of Michael Schwartz (of the super successful Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink) which helps inform his menu choices at this hard-to-find but easy-to-love Lincoln Road seafood spot where the Mediterranean flavors and professional service make a meal absolutely top notch. Weeknight dinners are less crowded than weekends so stop in tonight!

Arkadia / 4441 Collins Avenue / After completing a law degree in Amsterdam, DJ Roog’s love of music and childhood passion for performing turned his path from lawyer to party idol forever! The Housequake rebel brings the beat to the Fontainebleau Resort for Subliminal’s Thursday night bash alongside DJ Mednas.

Fairchild Tropical Gardens / 10901 Old Cutler Road / Today is Earth Day and admission to the city’s finest botanical garden is FREE! Enjoy fun, family-friendly educational activities, a visit from some of the city’s favorite food trucks, and tours of the unique greenhouses and tropical plants cultivated by renowned botanist Dr. David Fairchild since 1938.

Garcia’s Fish Market / 398 NW North River Drive / Fans of TVs “Burn Notice” will thrill to discover this dockside seafood restaurant overlooking the Miami River where super spy Michael Westen spends his days hunting Miami bad guys and blowing things up. Enjoy fresh grilled local mahi sandwiches, stone crab claws and Latin side dishes like crisp fried tostones (green plantains), black beans and rice.

Club Play / 1045 Fifth Street / West Coast party people love Nipsey Hussle who brings the beats to Play Nightclub alongside a sexy bikini fashion show by Intyce Swimwear. Also appearing in this concert style event, J-Nics, Phatz McFly, Ghostwridah and Dre Biggity.

The Stage / 170 NE 38 Street / Party in the Design District at the Stage with The Heavy Pets and the Aquaphonics who’ll share the limelight starting at 8pm. Florida’s favorite acts, the Aquaphonics are a three-piece electro soul combo and The Pets jam a fusion of jazz, funk and reggae beats.

Burger & Beer Joint / 1766 Bay Road / If you and your friends are celebrating the NBA playoffs tonight, order up an awesome Mother Burger – a TEN pound patty on a custom-crafted bun that is sliced table side with a SAW! Huge, meaty and delicious, the massive meal comes with one cheese, two toppings, one sauce and two sides! (Finish it ALONE in under 2 hours and it is free…)

LIV / 4441 Collins Avenue / Dutch music producer and star DJ Nick van de Wall – better known as AfroJack – brings his progressive house beats to Miami Beach tonight alongside DJ Mednas. Sip a variety of house-made sangrias filled with fresh fruit, feast on the chef’s signature ceviches, cured meats and cheeses, fresh pastries, omelets and eggs, plus a whole Cuban style roast pig with all the trimmings! Share a fun day of live music by the sea from 11:30am-3:30pm.

Joe’s Stone Crab / 11 Washington Avenue / While everyone else is tucking into reheated spiral cut ham and sweet potato casserole, your entry into Joe’s will probably be easier than ever before! Locals know that major holidays like Easter are the perfect time to beat the crowds at Joe’s where the chowders, crab claws and Key Lime Pie are better than a dozen Cadbury chocolate eggs.

Fontainebleau Pool Deck / 4441 Collins Avenue / All eyes on the prize as the city’s hottest luxury resort hosts an all day pool party starting at noon. Gather around one of 9 sparkling pools and get ready to dance to the beats of some world famous DJs including Roger Sanchez who shares the decks with DJ AfroJack, Mednas and Stephan Luke spinning until the sun slowly sets in the west.

Have Fun!

Move Over Birthers

Japanese food may confound most Americans with it’s emphasis on raw fish and dried seaweed but not nearly as confounding as birthers. We promise there’s nothing fishy about Pocky chocolate covered pretzels and a variety of other free colorful snacks served up for two hours starting at 2pm at this award-winning Mecca of graphic novels, action figures and all things nerdy and fun.

For the First Time On Any Stage (Left or Otherwise)

For the First Time On Any Stage (Left or Otherwise)… Although I’ll never catch up to Stageleft in the grandfathering department, I made my first.

Tucked inside the rather quiet exterior of the Westin Hotel, Mango Gang Chef Norman Van Aken and his son Justin are working the huge exhibition kitchen crafting a wild hodge podge of globally inspired plates from tuna tartare, Vietnamese beef and noodle soup to a trio of pork preparations and good old Southern fried chicken. Fasten your seatbelts and give it a whirl tonight.
