Jeff Horn produced an upset for the ages beating boxing legend Manny Pacquiao via unanimous decision for the WBO welterweight title.
Canberra boxer Dave Toussaint has taken a massive step in his boxing career with a split decision win over Shane Mosley Jr that could launch him onto the world stage.
Unknown and unheralded, Toussaint outclassed the son of a boxing legend on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Jeff Horn blockbuster to send a message to the boxing world at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.
Two judges scored the middleweight contest 77-76 to Toussaint while the third went in favour of Mosley, 77-75, in a move that raised more than a few eyebrows.
Taking care of a name considered boxing royalty could be huge in the context of Toussaint's career, taking him to 11-0 while Mosley slumped to his second professional defeat.
It was the biggest moment of Toussaint's career and he couldn't help but do a little bit of star gazing as he got the opportunity he's been dreaming of.
He had the son of a boxing legend in the ring with him, Pacquaio and legendary promoter Bob Arum watching from the crowd, the sporting world's most famous voice in Michael Buffer calling his name, and Tim Bradley calling the fight.
Millions were watching around the world and "Diamond" Dave wasn't going to miss the chance to shine.
"The platform is there for me now, if I keep doing the right thing and working hard and keep focused on the fights, who knows what's going to happen," Toussaint said.
"It is huge for me, I know in Canberra all the guys are talking about the fight and I've got a lot of messages of support after it.
"[I've] definitely got a lot of people backing me now and it's great but at the same time it's one step at a time and we'll see what happens in the next fight."
Toussaint's was "honoured" to play a role in one of the most memorable days in Australian boxing history after Horn stunned the world to capture the WBO welterweight championship against one of the sport's greatest.
Toussaint took control in the opening round to the delight of the building Brisbane crowd, before being busted open above his left eye by a short Mosley right hand.
It mattered little as the former electrician took control to win the biggest fight of his life.
Toussaint has already set his sights on an Australian title fight, likely to be scheduled for a Capital Fight Show event in Canberra in August.
While Horn celebrates his day in the sun, Toussaint is counting down the seconds until he gets his shot at world championship glory.
