North Dakota (pronunciation: i/ˌnɔːrθ dəˈkoʊtə/; locally [ˌno̞ɹθ dəˈko̞ɾə]) is the 39th state of the United States, having been admitted to the union on November 2, 1889.
It is located in the Upper Midwestern region of the United States, bordered by the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba to the north, the states of Minnesota to the east, South Dakota to the south, and Montana to the west. The state capital is Bismarck, and the largest city is Fargo. North Dakota is the 19th most extensive but the 4th least populous and the 4th least densely populated of the 50 United States.
North Dakota has weathered the Great Recession of the early 21st century with a boom in natural resources, particularly a boom in oil extraction from the Bakken formation, which lies beneath the northwestern part of the state. The development has driven strong job and population growth, and low unemployment.
North Dakota is located in the U.S. region known as the Great Plains. The state shares the Red River of the North with Minnesota on the east; South Dakota is to the south, Montana is to the west, and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba are north. North Dakota is situated near the middle of North America with a stone marker in Rugby, North Dakota marking the "Geographic Center of the North American Continent". With an area of 70,762 square miles (183,273 km2), North Dakota is the 19th largest state.
Williams County is the name of some counties in the United States of America
The Williston Basin is a large intracratonic sedimentary basin in eastern Montana, western North Dakota, South Dakota, and southern Saskatchewan, that is known for its rich deposits of petroleum and potash. The basin is a geologic structural basin but not a topographic depression; it is transected by the Missouri River. The oval-shaped depression extends approximately 475 miles (764 km) north-south and 300 miles (480 km) east-west.
The Williston Basin lies above an ancient Precambrian geologic basement feature, the Trans-Hudson Orogenic Belt that developed in this area about 1.8-1.9 billion years ago, and that created a weak zone that later led to sagging to produce the basin. The Precambrian basement rocks in the center of the basin beneath the city of Williston, North Dakota lie about 16,000 feet (4,900 m) below the surface.
Deposition of sediments began in the Williston area during Cambrian time, but subsidence and basin filling were most intense during the Ordovician, Silurian, and Devonian Periods, when thick accumulations of limestone and dolomite, with lesser thicknesses of sandstones, siltsones, shales, and evaporites were laid down. Subsidence continued on a reduced scale into the Mississippian and was largely ended by Pennsylvanian time. Regional subsidence returned during the Mesozoic Era, although total sediment thicknesses were much less than during the Paleozoic. Near the end of the Cretaceous, tectonic activity during the Laramide Orogeny rejuvenated several basement structures in the Williston Basin to produce anticlines that serve as oil traps today.

Even with lower world oil prices, production from the Bakken and Three Forks Formations continues. Flared gas is non-economic at this three-well pad. Video recorded in mid-December, 2014.
This is a County maintained gravel road in northwest North Dakota that receives heavy truck traffic hauling water to oil well drilling sites. The road is graded at least every other week and most times weekly. Pacific Enzymes and Williams County Hwy Dept. treated 1 mile of this road with Permazyme 11X in October, 2010. The Permazyme treatment will reduce the grading effort as it binds the clay particles in the road material. The area with water on both sides of the road had clay heaving that has been eliminated with this Permazyme 11X treatment. We wait for the spring thaw to see how the road holds up to the harsh North Dakota winter weather.

The 2010 census gave its population as 14,716, and the Census Bureau gave the 2013 estimated population as 20,850, making Williston the sixth largest city in North Dakota. The North Dakota oil boom is largely responsible for the sharp increase in population. Founded in 1887, Williston was named for Daniel Willis James, a board member of the Northern Pacific Railroad Company, by his friend, railroad owner, James J. Hill. Williston's newspapers, both in print and online, are the daily Williston Herald and the weekly The W...

Travel video about destination Wyoming & South Dakota in USA. Cheyenne is Wyoming’s most populated city. When the railroad was constructed in 1860 this “hell-like settlement at end of the railroad” became an important trading centre. For what was to become the federal government, the State Capitol was built and with its golden dome and Corinthian columns it is similar to its larger counterpart in Washington. In the middle of the eighteenth century French scouts were the first to penetrate this region that was then inhabited by the Arapaho and Shoshone Indians. The cowboys and farmers of the Old West needed to spend their hard earned money and Cheyenne profited accordingly and a profusion of hotels, saloons and warehouses suddenly appeared. The Badlands was given its name by the Native India...

I travel through the badlands and talk about how to be content. Here I travel from Medora, ND down the East River Road. I turn off onto a series of county roads (which I don't know their names). The two major landmarks on this route are the Burning Coal Vein campground. I turn off the East River Road right before I reach it. The other is the Logging Camp Ranch, which has cabins available for rent.
[Verse 1:]
When I see your eyes.
They show me everything.
I ever needed to know.
The only place I need to go.
And when we are together.
My whole world disappears.
Along with all our fears.
We are invincible.
[Chorus:]
Maybe we should get away.
be ourselves, just the two of us.
In your car, we'll drive til the road runs out.
We can run forever.
[Verse 2:]
Hey and when we get there.
We can find a cheap hotel.
Where we can hide from the world.
We can pretend that we're all alone.
And no one else exists.
the streets are ours tonight
are ours tonight
and no ones here to tell us
what to do or tell us what we're not
[Chorus:]
Maybe we should get away.
be ourselves, just the two of us.
In your car we'll drive til the road runs out.
We can run forever.
Maybe we should get away.
be ourselves, just the two of us.
In your car we'll drive til the road runs out.
We can run forever.
[Bridge:]
And we can be.
Who we want to be.
So everyone can see.
Exactly what we mean.
[Chorus:]
Maybe we should get away.
be ourselves, just the two of us.
In your car we'll drive til the road runs out.
We can run forever.
Maybe we should get away.
be ourselves, just the two of us.
In your car we'll drive til the road runs out.
