René Cardona Jr.
René Cardona Jr. (1939-2003) was a prolific Mexican filmmaker and actor, son of well-known Mexican director René Cardona, and the father of Rene Cardona III (also an actor/director).
Biography
Cardona Jr. began by acting in his father's films and then took over his father's craft in the mid-1960s, directing, writing, and producing over a hundred films over the years. He enjoyed some notoriety and success particularly in the late 1970s as a result of his Jaws (1975) inspired film Tintorera (1977) which became a cult classic.
He capitalized on the spirit of cooperation between the Mexican, Spanish, and Italian film industries prevalent in the late-1970s and was able to make a spate of comparatively large-budget exploitation films with professional international casts and crews. He also managed to hire several once-popular American actors during this period, such as Joseph Cotten, John Huston, Gene Barry, Stuart Whitman, John Ireland, Arthur Kennedy, and Lionel Stander to help boost international ticket sales. Most of these actors were fresh from similar guest appearances in Italian films of the same period.

René Cardona
René Cardona (October 8, 1905, Havana, Cuba – April 25, 1988, Mexico City) was a director, actor, producer, screenwriter, script writer and film editor in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
Biography
René Cardona was born in Havana, Cuba on October 8, 1905, and began medical school in Cuba, but due to the political problems of the island, he and his family moved to New York in 1926, where he continued his studies. Economic circumstances experienced by his family caused him to leave his studies. He befriended famous actor Rodolfo Valentino and obtained work as an extra in several films, until in 1929 he produced, wrote, directed and starred in the first Spanish-language film made in Hollywood, Sombras habaneras (Havana Shadows). He also had the opportunity to work in various positions in the film industry such as second assistant, technical advisor and first assistant director; and learned film and lighting technique. In 1932 he moved to Mexico, where he debuted as an actor and met Julieta Zacarías, sister of the director Miguel Zacarías, and soon after married her. His wife's support would be central to his career in Mexican cinema, in films Mano a Mano (1932) directed by Ramòn Peòn and Sobre las olas (1932) directed by Zacarìas. At this early stage as an actor, Cardona participated in three key Mexican films Marihuana (1936), El baúl macabro (1936) and Allá en el rancho grande (1936), which officially inaugurate the golden age of Mexican cinema and made stars of its protagonists: Esther Fernández, Tito Guízar, and Cardona.

Comenzó su carrera artistica formando el dueto "Rosita y Daniel" con su hermano Daniel Velázquez. Debido a su bella voz, la compañia de discos RCA la contrató en exclusiva como solista, grabando música ranchera ahora bajo el nombre de LUCIANA y logrando con su estilo tan personal innumerables éxitos. Posteriormente pasó a formar parte de la compañia de discos Cisne-Raff, donde logró consolidarse como una gran interprete de la música mexicana. Hizo películas, programas de televisión y tuvo infinidad de presentaciones personales a traves de giras por toda la República Mexicana, la Union Americana y Centro y Sud América, donde cosechó grandes éxitos en los años setentas. Desgraciadamente en diciembre de 1980 falleció de manera trágica, truncándose así un futuro brillante y prometedor. Sus canciones, algunas de su propia inspiración, son un fiel homenaje a su enorme talento, su belleza muy mexicana y su gran calidad humana. -

LUCIANA, cantante, compositora y actriz, cuyo verdadero nombre era Rosa Maria Velázquez; nació en el pueblo de Chinacates, Municipio de Santiago Papasquiaro del Estado de Durango, el 31 de agosto de 1940. Comenzó su carrera artistica formando el dueto "Rosita y Daniel" con su hermano Daniel Velázquez. Debido a su bella voz, la compañia de discos RCA la contrató en exclusiva como solista, grabando música ranchera ahora bajo el nombre de LUCIANA y logrando con su estilo tan personal innumerables éxitos. Posteriormente pasó a formar parte de la compañia de discos Cisne-Raff, donde logró consolidarse como una gran interprete de la música mexicana. Hizo películas, programas de televisión y tuvo infinidad de presentaciones personales a traves de giras por toda la República Mexicana, la Union Americana y Centro y Sud América, donde cosechó grandes éxitos en los años setentas. Desgraciadamente en diciembre de 1980 falleció de manera trágica, truncándose así un futuro brillante y prometedor.
Sus canciones, algunas de su propia inspiración, son un fiel homenaje a su enorme talento, su belleza muy mexicana y su gran calidad humana.
