Kenya (/ˈkɛnjə/; locally [ˈkɛɲa]), officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in Africa and a founding member of the East African Community (EAC). Its capital and largest city is Nairobi. Kenya's territory lies on the equator and overlies the East African Rift covering a diverse and expansive terrain that extends roughly from Lake Victoria to Lake Turkana (formerly called Lake Rudolf) and further south-east to the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by Tanzania to the south, Uganda to the west, South Sudan to the north-west, Ethiopia to the north and Somalia to the north-east. Kenya covers 581,309 km2 (224,445 sq mi), and had a population of approximately 45 million people in July 2014.
Kenya has a warm and humid tropical climate on its Indian Ocean coastline. The climate is cooler in the savannah grasslands around the capital city, Nairobi, and especially closer to Mount Kenya, which has snow permanently on its peaks. Further inland, in the Nyanza region, there is a hot and dry climate which becomes humid around Lake Victoria, the largest tropical fresh-water lake in the world. This gives way to temperate and forested hilly areas in the neighboring western region. The north-eastern regions along the border with Somalia and Ethiopia are arid and semi-arid areas with near-desert landscapes. Kenya is known for its safaris, diverse climate and geography, and expansive wildlife reserves and national parks such as the East and West Tsavo National Park, the Maasai Mara, Lake Nakuru National Park, and Aberdares National Park. Kenya has several world heritage sites such as Lamu and numerous beaches, including in Diani, Bamburi and Kilifi, where international yachting competitions are held every year.

Raila Amolo Odinga (born 7 January 1945), also popularly known to his supporters as Agwambo (meaning the "Mysterious One"), Tinga, Baba, RAO, and Jakom ("Chairman") is a Kenyan politician. He was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Langata in 1992, served as Minister of Energy from 2001 to 2002 and as Minister of Roads, Public Works, and Housing from 2003 to 2005. He was the main opposition candidate in the 2007 presidential election. Son of first Vice President of Kenya, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the family's origin in Kenya's Luo tribe has been a key to their political activity. Raila is commonly known by his first name due to coincidence: he was an MP at the same time as his father between 1992 and 1994. In Raila Odinga was a presidential contender in the 1997 elections, coming third after President Daniel arap Moi of KANU and Mwai Kibaki, the former president of Kenya and then a member of the Democratic Party. Odinga campaigned to run for president in the December 2007 elections on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.

In this film Wild Frontiers, Jonny Bealby, explains about tourism in Kenya. Here is the text... Jonny here, right now I am at Borana Ranch, high on the Laikipia Plateau, in the lee of Mount Kenya. And in this short film I am going to talk about tourism in Kenya. If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element. From the Marsabit National Park in the north, to the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Parks in the south, the planes of Kenya are teeming with wildlife or all shapes and sizes offering, along with its neighbour Tanzania, the best place in the world to view game. And if you throw i...
Kenya, with its numerous natural wonders gives a tourist the joy of a seaside holiday and the thrills of a safari. One can sit in the shade of a palm tree and swim in the emerald green water of the Indian Ocean, which runs out to the white, sandy beaches. We can take a look at Mombasa, most important port of Eastern Africa, the city of the Tusk Gate and the Jesus Fort. How about a typical African safari to Tsavo? Naturally, in the meantime we can meet elephants, lions, giraffes and dolphins. We can marvel at the 13th century city of Gedi. We can take a boat trip among the coral reefs of the sea national parks, or be amazed by the war dance of the Masai people, and can have a dinner at a coral cave.

Travel video about destination Nairobi in Kenya. Nairobi is Kenya's busy, expensive yet dangerous capital city. It is also both fascinating and modern. Nairobi is the country's most important and beautiful city and with the finest temperate climate between Johannesburg and Cairo, is located at an altitude of almost 1,700 metres above sea level. The government district of City Square contains the Conference Centre and the Kanu Tower, the headquarters of government and the city's tallest building. Canons guard the main entrance to the National Museum that is situated on Museum Hill, a fascinating building that covers much of Kenya's culture and history. The museum provides an interesting insight into Pre-history as well as to various cultures and the country's flora and fauna. Directly i...

I had one major goal before embarking on this journey: to capture the quintessential African, sun filling frame, Lion King-esque sunset. I will never forget that third evening in Masaai Mara, Mike Gaudaur speeding along the dirt trails in the luxurious yet rugged Prado chasing the sunset as we climbed to a hilltop. At 400mm, with a bean bag stabilizing the largest lens I've ever strapped to my camera, my heart raced and my hands shook in pure excitement. It was perfection. Definitely top 5 most specifically memorable experiences of my life - and the opening clip of this video. Few words describe the truly inspiring experiences in Kenya this summer. I was fortunate to be travelling with friend and classmate, Elise Watson, who had a healthy appetite for exploration and travel. I was also fo...

This is a journey into Kenya’s origins and its uncertain future. We travel along the colony’s iron foundations, the railway lines laid by the British imperialists as they raced to create a passage to Lake Victoria from Mombasa. 120 years later, the same railway is enjoyed by tourists seeking a taste of the vintage African safari, with luxury 1st-class carriages and pressed napkins. To either side of their trammelled way lie the gleaming metropolis of Nairobi, the rolling ranchers’ pastures and the sprawling slums of Kibera. Shot on SD and 8mm film, this film takes the viewer on an experiential journey through different periods of history and levels of society: we are welcomed by a demented Mau Mau veteran, carefully set on our way by a railway tourist guide, and bade farewell in true Momb...
Hoti grew up on his family's farm in Tanzania's lake district, not far from the wildlife reserves at Lake Manyara, then later went on to earn a diploma from the College of African Wildlife Management in Mweka, Tanzania. "My Vantage travelers benefit greatly from my love and knowledge of African wildlife," he says. However, it's Hoti's many other experiences that make him the terrific guide and fascinating travel companion that he is, such as teaching secondary school for 14 years and working with Irish missionaries to provide food and medicine to Rwandan and Congolese refugees. He even studied in Ireland, where he earned a degree at St. Patrick College and advised missionaries preparing for Africa. What does Hoti particularly look forward to sharing with his travelers? "I take great pride ...

But David brings much more to the table.... "All guests traveling with me throughout Kenya and Tanzania will obviously enjoy the game, but the thing that they take with them is the moments shared talking about all things under the sun. A day will not pass without a small lecture on topics from education, economics, politics, and how modernity is affecting people across the destination." David is also a youth counselor through his church, and is very involved in conservation efforts and community service. He is currently working t...

Heading to the continent of Africa our presenters land in its capital city Nairobi and head straight for one of its infamous slums- Kibera. It doesn't take long for them to attract the services of an impromptu guide. Next they move across town to observe auditions looking for Kenya's next Top Comic and Julian attempts to get some laughs with some of his best gags. The next day they join Africa's most elegant animal for breakfast before Julian goes shopping at the touristy Masai Market. Leaving the urban jungle our travellers fly into the stunning Masai Mara Reserve where they experience camping luxury. Located in Eastern Africa, Kenya lies astride the equator and shares its borders with Tanzania and Uganda. The country boasts a warm humid climate with diverse ecosystems, from snow-capped mountains, semi-arid desert regions and rainforests, to acacia-studded savannah, flamingo lakes, white palm-fringed ocean beaches and coral reefs. How about this for the ultimate sundowner? We heard about it from two guests, recently returned from Kenya's Mara North Conservancy. Their game drive ended on an isolated hill with a poetry-inducing 360-degree panorama. As the setting sun stained the vast wilderness blood red, their guide handed them Masai blankets, traditional weapons and an iced G&T; with freshly cut lime. For a perfect crescendo, they spotted a huge leopard as they drove back to camp, foll...
