Recently the price of the Leatherman Wingman and Sidekick have been going up to around $40 dollars. So, the Rev was introduced to cut out a few items and feature and hit the price that the other two tools used to meet around the $30 mark. Well, the Rev has several design oversights and flaws that could have easily been fixed. I will walk you through them.

2. "Chink In the Armor": The pivot point rod by bottle opener is weak
3. Clumsy To Use (inward angled tools, not a lot of grip)
4. Opening: Hard to determine where to open it (I use the cutter)
5. Inside labeling difficult to read (black ink, perhaps sweat would just rub off)
6. Customizable, but as add ons (still need base model) (I'd prefer building my own based on needs) (torx, more phillips)
Watch Version:
1. I trust Leatherman Tools, but I'm unfamiliar with their watches. I would prefer just the watch band and add to more established watch makers (e.g. G-Shock)
2. Kind of Bulky
SUMMARY:
1. Very unique product that will turns heads
2. Not a full size multitool replacement (more of a backup)
3. An awesome gift for a gear heads, bikers, preppers and people who like to wear chains

Multi-tools are very useful, pocket knives are very useful, but is there such a thing as being able to carry the best of both world for EDC? I have been carrying a Leatherman Tool for 25 years now. I use the SURGE most. It is the right size for me, and has the right combination of tools used often use. BUT I have always hated to have to cary the tool in a sheath I like the idea of keeping it my front pocket. It is designed to take an optional clip, but this clip is not symmetrical and the tool often is hanging to one side. Not to mention the clip simply breaks off. I thought of the mod to solve these problems. I use my TIG welder to attach a clip to both sides or handles of the tool. the 2 sides come together to form a larger curve to make hooking it easy and simple. The fact the curve of the clip opens and closes also gives you the ability to use it like a “caribbener” and clip it on to a strap for instance. I put scrap steel into the handle under the welds to act as a heat sink to keep from melting through. I am not the best welder but I get the job done. This is my second modded Surge I did for camera. my first has been holding strong for over a year. Enjoy

Leatherman
Leatherman is a brand of multitools and knives made by Leatherman Tool Group of Portland, Oregon, US. The company was founded in July 1983 by Timothy S. Leatherman and Steve Berliner in order to market his idea of a capable, easily portable hand tool with multiple functions. That same year Leatherman sold the first multitool, which was called the PST (Pocket Survival Tool).
Company history
Timothy S. Leatherman, a 1970 mechanical engineering graduate of Oregon State University, and his business partner, Steve Berliner, formed Leatherman Tool Group in 1983.
Leatherman was inspired to design a "Boy Scout knife with pliers" while he and his wife traveled Europe and the Middle East in 1975, often attempting to use a simple pocketknife to repair their repeatedly malfunctioning car and leaky hotel plumbing. He spent several years perfecting the "Mr. Crunch" prototype and received his first U.S. patent (4,238,862) in 1980. After additional refinement, Leatherman’s first product was introduced in 1983 as the Pocket Survival Tool (PST) and initially sold through Early Winters and Cabela’s mail-order catalogs.

Leatherman (vagabond)
The Leatherman (ca. 1839–1889) was a particular vagabond, famous for his handmade leather suit of clothes, who traveled a circuit between the Connecticut River and the Hudson River, roughly from 1856 to 1889. Of unknown origin, he was thought to be French-Canadian, or simply French, because of his fluency in the French language, his "broken English", and the French-language prayer book found on his person after his death. His identity remains unknown, and controversial. He walked a 365-mile route (taking 34–36 days) in western Connecticut and eastern New York.
Life
Living in rock shelters and "leatherman caves", as they are now locally known, he stopped at towns along his 365-mile loop about every five weeks for food and supplies. He was dubbed the "Leatherman" as his adornment of hat, scarf, clothes, and shoes were handmade leather.
Fluent in French, he communicated mostly with grunts and gestures, rarely using his broken English. When asked about his background, he would abruptly end the conversation. Upon his death, a French prayerbook was found among his possessions. He declined meat on Fridays, giving rise to speculation that he was Roman Catholic.

I have been carrying a Leatherman Tool for 25 years now. I use the SURGE most. It is the right size for me, and has the right combination of tools used often use. BUT I have always hated to have to cary the tool in a sheath I like the idea of keeping it my front pocket. It is designed to take an optional clip, but this clip is not symmetrical and the tool often is hanging to one side. Not to mention the clip simply breaks off. I thought of the mod to solve these problems. I use my TIG welder to attach a clip to both sides or handles of the tool. the 2 sides come together to form a larger curve to make hooking it easy and simple. Multi-tools are very useful, pocket knives are very useful, but is there such a thing as being able to carry the best of both world for EDC? I have been carrying a Leatherman Tool for 25 years now. I use the SURGE most. It is the right size for me, and has the right combination of tools used often use. BUT I have always hated to have to cary the tool in a sheath I like the idea of keeping it my front pocket. It is designed to take an optional clip, but this clip is not symmetrical and the tool often is hanging to one side. Not to mention the clip simply breaks off. I thought of the mod to solve these problems. I use my TIG welder to attach a clip to both sides or handles of the tool. the 2 sides come together to form a larger curve to make hooking it easy and simple. The fact the curve of the clip opens and closes also gives you the ability to use it like a “caribbener” and clip it on to a strap for instance. I put scrap steel into the handle under the welds to act as a heat sink to keep from melting through. I am not the best welder but I get the job done. This is my second modded Surge I did for camera. my first has been holding strong for over a year. Enjoy
