The Italian National Institute of Statistics (Italian: Istituto Nazionale di Statistica; Istat) is the main producer of official statistics in Italy. Its activities include the census of population, economic censuses and a number of social, economic and environmental surveys and analyses. Istat is by far the largest producer of statistical information in Italy, and is an active member of the European Statistical System, coordinated by Eurostat.
Its publications are released under creative commons "Attribution" (CC BY) license.
Istat was created in 1926 as "Central Institute of Statistics" (Istituto Centrale di Statistica), to collect and organize essential data about the nation. It took its current denomination with the reform of 1989. This also gave Istat statutory responsibility for the coordination and standardization of official statistics collected or published under the aegis of the national statistical system SISTAN, whose membership includes the statistical offices of ministries, national agencies, regions, provinces, communes, chambers of commerce, and similar bodies. Since 4 August 2009, Enrico Giovannini, former Chief statistician of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), has been the President of the institute.

The Trump election and populist movements in Europe and Asia can be considered akin to true revolutionary movements--ideologically driven; brought about by a slow-down in social mobility, elite factionalization and decline in public goods; and pursuing a revolutionary agenda including propagandist reshaping of reality and a radical reconfiguration of international relations. This talk will show the common demographic factors behind these developments, and examine whether historical lessons can be drawn regarding the durability of such revolutionary movements in modern democratic states. Google Tech Talks May 6, 2008 ABSTRACT When you look around, there are a lot of leaders recommended for software development. We have the functional manager and the project manager, the scrum master and the black belt, the product owner and the customer-on-site, the technical leader and the architect, the product manager and the chief engineer. Clearly that's too many leaders. So how many leaders should there be, what should they do, what shouldn't they do, and what skills do they need? This will be a presentation and discussion of leadership roles in software development -- what works, what doesn't and why. Speaker: Mary Poppendieck Mary Poppendieck started her career as a process control programmer, moved on to manage the IT department of a manufacturing plant, and then ended up in ...
Sensing and deciding are connected – our senses gather information to guide decisions and these decisions lead to more information. How do our brains collect information and use it to guide decisions? Dr. David Gire will explore how physics shapes the strategies that brains across the animal kingdom use to efficiently gather information and make choices.
