The clue to the sound of opening bomb 'Aqua Box' is in the title: imagine a pumping Chicago box jam torpedoed down to the ocean floor and souped up with some South London subs and you're in business. 'Countess' is the kind of grime-influenced house at which JC so excels; militant, broken drum syncopations buttressing spiky, stop-start electro arpeggios to bone-crushing effect. 'Island' has been knocking around on dubplate for the best part of two years; it's lost none of its lustre in the interim, butch 808 drums jolting and jabbing around airy, melancholy synth sounds - an out-and-out masterpiece, just killer. 'Barely A Trak' takes the tried and tested formula of combining UKF syncopations and bending Moomin synths, but caresses it into something properly unique with the help of some nifty edits and an 'ardkore-style vocal loop. 'Waterfalls' gestures towards Chicago again, with its Virgo-esque tom hits and starlit synths, but breaks down into something altogether more mutant and LDN-flavoured. Banging, breathlessly imaginative stuff from start to finish.

Jam City
Jack Latham is an electronic music producer and DJ who performs under the alias Jam City. He records on Night Slugs and has been active since 2010.
Recordings
Classical Curves
Jam City's debut album, Classical Curves, was released in 2012 to positive reception. Sonically, the album featured glossy, alien-sounding post-dubstep and club music and established his reputation for creating instrumentals from club music tropes.
Dream a Garden
Latham's follow-up album, Dream a Garden, was released in 2015. Inspired by the 2011 England riots and the work of bell hooks, the album further developed the socio-political conscience of his debut, engaging particularly with the effects of neoliberalism. Latham said the album "is about the personal effects of living under capitalism. Why do I feel shit and why do the people I love feel shit when they look at billboards?" The first single from the album, Unhappy, critiques corruptive elements of online porn.
Work with others
Latham has also written songs and produced for Kelela, producing "Keep It Cool" and "Cherry Coffee" on her mixtape Cut 4 Me, and providing a remix of "Keep It Cool" on the deluxe edition.

Night Slugs
Night Slugs is an English electronic music record label, established in 2010 by Alex Sushon (also known as Bok Bok) and James Connolly (also known as L-Vis 1990).
History
Night Slugs was originally started as a London-based club night by DJs/producers Alex Sushon and James Connolly after the two met on Myspace in 2008. The first Night Slugs party was staged at the Redstar in Camberwell in March 2008, though the nights would eventually move to the more centrally located East Village.
After artists featured at the club nights remained unsigned, Sushon and Connolly founded Night Slugs as a record label in January 2010 with the release of Mosca’s Square One EP. That same year the label released their first compilation, Night Slugs Allstars Vol. 1.
SPIN magazine has described the label as having "developed one of the most distinctive sounds in U.K. dance music, a mutable hybrid of grime, house, electro, R&B, techno, hip-hop, and dubstep".

The clue to the sound of opening bomb 'Aqua Box' is in the title: imagine a pumping Chicago box jam torpedoed down to the ocean floor and souped up with some South London subs and you're in business. 'Countess' is the kind of grime-influenced house at which JC so excels; militant, broken drum syncopations buttressing spiky, stop-start electro arpeggios to bone-crushing effect. 'Island' has been knocking around on dubplate for the best part of two years; it's lost none of its lustre in the interim, butch 808 drums jolting and jabbing around airy, melancholy synth sounds - an out-and-out masterpiece, just killer. 'Barely A Trak' takes the tried and tested formula of combining UKF syncopations and bending Moomin synths, but caresses it into something properly unique with the help of some nifty edits and an 'ardkore-style vocal loop. 'Waterfalls' gestures towards Chicago again, with its Virgo-esque tom hits and starlit synths, but breaks down into something altogether more mutant and LDN-flavoured. Banging, breathlessly imaginative stuff from start to finish.

The clue to the sound of opening bomb 'Aqua Box' is in the title: imagine a pumping Chicago box jam torpedoed down to the ocean floor and souped up with some South London subs and you're in business. 'Countess' is the kind of grime-influenced house at which JC so excels; militant, broken drum syncopations buttressing spiky, stop-start electro arpeggios to bone-crushing effect. 'Island' has been knocking around on dubplate for the best part of two years; it's lost none of its lustre in the interim, butch 808 drums jolting and jabbing around airy, melancholy synth sounds - an out-and-out masterpiece, just killer. 'Barely A Trak' takes the tried and tested formula of combining UKF syncopations and bending Moomin synths, but caresses it into something properly unique with the help of some nifty edits and an 'ardkore-style vocal loop. 'Waterfalls' gestures towards Chicago again, with its Virgo-esque tom hits and starlit synths, but breaks down into something altogether more mutant and LDN-flavoured. Banging, breathlessly imaginative stuff from start to finish.
