Raila's home in Kisumu is complete.
The house made headlines in 2014 after it was reported to cost a whooping Sh1 billion.
The palatial hill-side residence is located in Riat, overlooking Kisumu International Airport. It gives the former PM a near aerial view of Kisumu city.
According to sources, the house has close to 10 bedrooms including the master bedroom, all upstairs. It has four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and many offices.
A series of photos making rounds online have given an idea of what the just completed KSh 1billion place belonging to CORD leader looks like
- It has 10 bedrooms, Jacuzzis, a humongous helipad, conference halls, a theatre and state-of-the-art kichens
- It has been called by critics, the Raila Odinga's State House, a mirror palace of the Kenyan State House that Raila has been unable to clinch so far
The KSh 1 billion house on the hill, a pristine palatial home to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy Leader, Raila Odinga has been called, albeit unofficially, Raila's statehouse.
It is now complete and stands stately and imposing on Riat Hills, Kisumu. It is probably only eclipsed in magnificence by Mike Sonko's palace at Mua Hills, Ukambani.
Critics say that the CORD leader fashioned himself a building whose magnificence, mirrored the Kenyan statehouse- a house that he has fought three times in a row to step in, unsuccessfully.
ADEN DUALE HOUSE
Aden Bare Duale, Majority Leader of Kenya’s National Assembly is one of the more popular politicians in the country.
The former teacher, now member of parliament for Garissa Township was inducted into politics by Raila Odinga. He is now the most vocal defender of Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee government and as a result has earned the tag sycophant.
But politics aside, Aden is one of the more wealthier politicians in the country. Together with his brother, Noor Barre, they have built their own empire in Garissa County.
They own Nomad Resort, the second upmarket hotel in the town besides other commercial ventures, which include the affiliate Nomad Hotel in Nairobi’s Eastleigh.
Mr Duale is also married to the daughter of retired General Mahmoud Mohammed, one of two families who own and control most of Garissa’s wealth.
As such, Duale lives large. A photo of his supposed house in Runda estate has surfaced online sending tongues wagging.

Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero is a wealthy man. A lot has been said about how he got his wealth, but that’s beside the point.

The house made headlines in 2014 after it was reported to cost a whooping Sh1 billion.
The palatial hill-side residence is located in Riat, overlooking Kisumu International Airport. It gives the former PM a near aerial view of Kisumu city.
According to sources, the house has close to 10 bedrooms including the master bedroom, all upstairs. It has four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and many offices.
A series of photos making rounds online have given an idea of what the just completed KSh 1billion place belonging to CORD leader looks like
- It has 10 bedrooms, Jacuzzis, a humongous helipad, conference halls, a theatre and state-of-the-art kichens
- It has been called by critics, the Raila Odinga's State House, a mirror palace of the Kenyan State House that Raila has been unable to clinch so far
The KSh 1 billion house on the hill, a pristine palatial home to the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy Leader, Raila Odinga has been called, albeit unofficially, Raila's statehouse.
It is now complete and stands stately and imposing on Riat Hills, Kisumu. It is probably only eclipsed in magnificence by Mike Sonko's palace at Mua Hills, Ukambani.
Critics say that the CORD leader fashioned himself a building whose magnificence, mirrored the Kenyan statehouse- a house that he has fought three times in a row to step in, unsuccessfully.
ADEN DUALE HOUSE
Aden Bare Duale, Majority Leader of Kenya’s National Assembly is one of the more popular politicians in the country.
The former teacher, now member of parliament for Garissa Township was inducted into politics by Raila Odinga. He is now the most vocal defender of Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee government and as a result has earned the tag sycophant.
But politics aside, Aden is one of the more wealthier politicians in the country. Together with his brother, Noor Barre, they have built their own empire in Garissa County.
They own Nomad Resort, the second upmarket hotel in the town besides other commercial ventures, which include the affiliate Nomad Hotel in Nairobi’s Eastleigh.
Mr Duale is also married to the daughter of retired General Mahmoud Mohammed, one of two families who own and control most of Garissa’s wealth.
As such, Duale lives large. A photo of his supposed house in Runda estate has surfaced online sending tongues wagging.

According to Property Leo which; a real estate site, the homes at Karen Bel Air are roughly worth Ksh. 70-75 Million each.
The property is set on a private 0.5 acre garden enjoying scenic views of Ngong forest in a gated community of only 10 quiet homes, designed to enhance community living.
Just a stones throw from all essential facilities, schools, shopping centres and only ½ hour from Nairobi City Centre.

I had one major goal before embarking on this journey: to capture the quintessential African, sun filling frame, Lion King-esque sunset. I will never forget that third evening in Masaai Mara, Mike Gaudaur speeding along the dirt trails in the luxurious yet rugged Prado chasing the sunset as we climbed to a hilltop. Jonny here, right now I am at Borana Ranch, high on the Laikipia Plateau, in the lee of Mount Kenya. And in this short film I am going to talk about tourism in Kenya.
If I asked what's the first thing you think about when turning your mind to travel in this colourful East African country, you'd almost certainly say wildlife. And of course you'd be right as over 80 percent of holidays here will have a wildlife element.
From the Marsabit National Park in the north, to the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Parks in the south, the planes of Kenya are teeming with wildlife or all shapes and sizes offering, along with its neighbour Tanzania, the best place in the world to view game. And if you throw in Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, the Laikipia Plateau and the Matthews Range, the Lamu Archipelago and the rest of the Kenyan coast, and some of the most spectacular and evocative accommodation anywhere on earth, then here in Kenya you have a true world class travel experience.
The Masai Mara is probably the most famous national park. Covering more than 500sqm, the Mara is universally renowned for its exceptional populations of lion, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo and giraffe and for the famous migration of wildebeest that takes place every year from July to October.
But the Masai Mara is by no means the only show in town. Further to the east you have Amboseli National Park with its epic views of Kilimanjaro, to the north you have Samburu, Marsabit and Meru National Parks, and here on Laikipia, in the Lewa conservancy, where the savannah is awash with elephants, giraffe, the quirky Grevy zebra and a new and burgeoning population of black rhino.
And as for the accommodation, well that is quite simply out of this world. Yes, to get the best you're going to pay, but in our opinion the experience you'll enjoy and quality of service you'll receive -- plus of course the game you'll see -- does make this value for money. There is simply nothing else like it on earth. Among many amazing places to stay, my personal favourites are Else's Kopje in Meru, Saruni in Samburu, Richard's Camp or Serian in the Mara, and either Sabuk or Borana here on the Laikipia Plateau.
But tourism in Kenya is not only about wild animals. The Kenyan Coast, stretching all the way from Diani Beach in the south the Lamu archipelago in the north, with its white sand beaches and gentle turquoise seas -- particularly when the trade winds are blowing in the right direction from November through to March -- again coupled with some fabulous accommodation, combine to make this a truly world class beach experience.
And if you like to meet the people -- an important factor in most Wild Frontiers adventures -- there are plenty of opportunities, particularly at Sarara, in the Matthews Range, at Il Ngwesi north or Mount Kenya and here at Borana.
To get around there is are great quality land cruisers, a brilliant air service, either in scheduled flights or on private charters, a classic bi-plane, or if you really want to push the boat out and get to places few others can reach, a truly amazing helicopter service, run by our friends at Tropic Air.
A classic African safari is a travel experience like no other, and one that all travellers should do at least once in their lives. And for that, in my opinion, there's nowhere better than Kenya.

I had one major goal before embarking on this journey: to capture the quintessential African, sun filling frame, Lion King-esque sunset. I will never forget that third evening in Masaai Mara, Mike Gaudaur speeding along the dirt trails in the luxurious yet rugged Prado chasing the sunset as we climbed to a hilltop. At 400mm, with a bean bag stabilizing the largest lens I've ever strapped to my camera, my heart raced and my hands shook in pure excitement. It was perfection. Definitely top 5 most specifically memorable experiences of my life - and the opening clip of this video.
Few words describe the truly inspiring experiences in Kenya this summer. I was fortunate to be travelling with friend and classmate, Elise Watson, who had a healthy appetite for exploration and travel. I was also fortunate to be living with the Riches, who were amazing host parents. Much of the video is shot on safari in Masaai Mara with our incredible safari guide (and pro photographer) Mike Gaudaur. Some clips are from our day trips to Mt. Longonot (dormant volcano), Hell's Gate National Park, Nakuru Park (the flamingos), this missionary station of Kijabe, and our piki (dirt bike) ride with Josiah Rich through the Great Rift Valley chasing zebras and giraffes. For the month of June we lived life the way it is meant to be lived. Vigorously.

I had one major goal before embarking on this journey: to capture the quintessential African, sun filling frame, Lion King-esque sunset. I will never forget that third evening in Masaai Mara, Mike Gaudaur speeding along the dirt trails in the luxurious yet rugged Prado chasing the sunset as we climbed to a hilltop. At 400mm, with a bean bag stabilizing the largest lens I've ever strapped to my camera, my heart raced and my hands shook in pure excitement. It was perfection. Definitely top 5 most specifically memorable experiences of my life - and the opening clip of this video.
Few words describe the truly inspiring experiences in Kenya this summer. I was fortunate to be travelling with friend and classmate, Elise Watson, who had a healthy appetite for exploration and travel. I was also fortunate to be living with the Riches, who were amazing host parents. Much of the video is shot on safari in Masaai Mara with our incredible safari guide (and pro photographer) Mike Gaudaur. Some clips are from our day trips to Mt. Longonot (dormant volcano), Hell's Gate National Park, Nakuru Park (the flamingos), this missionary station of Kijabe, and our piki (dirt bike) ride with Josiah Rich through the Great Rift Valley chasing zebras and giraffes. For the month of June we lived life the way it is meant to be lived. Vigorously.

This is a journey into Kenya’s origins and its uncertain future. We travel along the colony’s iron foundations, the railway lines laid by the British imperialists as they raced to create a passage to Lake Victoria from Mombasa. 120 years later, the same railway is enjoyed by tourists seeking a taste of the vintage African safari, with luxury 1st-class carriages and pressed napkins. To either side of their trammelled way lie the gleaming metropolis of Nairobi, the rolling ranchers’ pastures and the sprawling slums of Kibera.
Shot on SD and 8mm film, this film takes the viewer on an experiential journey through different periods of history and levels of society: we are welcomed by a demented Mau Mau veteran, carefully set on our way by a railway tourist guide, and bade farewell in true Mombasa style by a melancholic Swahili guitarist.
David Cecil’s graduation film (Visual Anthropology, Goldsmiths’, 2009) was fraught with difficulty from the start. His original camera was stolen in Kilifi on the first night of the 2-week shoot, forcing him to shoot on 8mm and then film the rest in 5 days on a locally-sourced replacement. The result is haphazard but was well-received by audiences at Amakula Film Festival (Uganda) and received a nomination for Best Short Documentary in the 2010 Deborshir Festival (Russia).
Note the cameo (@06:10) by celebrated British film-maker Nick Broomfield who we bump into in Nairobi station during the shoot, and also the impressive rooftop graffiti in Kibera (@10:00). For those patient enough to sit through the credits, there is a final word from the film’s most colourful character.

He is currently working to help provide clean water in his neighborhood by mobilizing resources to dig a borehole. What else does this self-described "jack of all trades" do? "I teach Swahili songs that guests sing along to make the long drives easy."

Julian finds the Mara and its inhabitants a little scary and is concerned when their guide stops to make them a picnic lunch close to a lion's lair. They meet Letilet, an ex-poacher turned guide and also visit a Masai village where Julian jumps and wrestles with the men and Camilla engages in feminist debate.
