Roy Rogers (born Leonard Franklin Slye; November 5, 1911 – July 6, 1998) was an American singer and cowboy actor who was one of the most popular Western stars of his era. Known as the "King of the Cowboys", he appeared in over 100 films and numerous radio and television episodes of The Roy Rogers Show. In many of his films and television episodes, he appeared with his wife Dale Evans, his golden palomino Trigger, and his German Shepherd dog Bullet. His show ran on radio for nine years before moving to television from 1951 through 1957. His productions usually featured a sidekick, often Pat Brady, Andy Devine, or George "Gabby" Hayes. In his later years, Rogers lent his name to the Roy Rogers Restaurants franchised chain.
Rogers (Leonard Slye) was born to Mattie (née Womack) and Andrew "Andy" Slye in Cincinnati, Ohio. The family lived in a tenement building on 2nd Street, where Riverfront Stadium would later be constructed (Rogers would later joke that he was born at second base). Dissatisfied with his job and city life, Andy and his brother Will built a 12-by-50-foot (3.7 m × 15.2 m) houseboat from salvage lumber, and in July 1912 the Slye family traveled up the Ohio River towards Portsmouth, Ohio. Desiring a more stable existence in Portsmouth, they purchased land on which to build a house, but the Great Flood of 1913 allowed them to move the houseboat to their property and continue living in it on dry land.

Wally Wales (November 13, 1895 – February 10, 1980) was an American film actor who also appeared in many films under the name Hal Taliaferro. He appeared in more than 220 films between 1921 and 1964.
Wally Wales was born Floyd Taliaferro Alderson in Sheridan, Wyoming. He was raised on his family's ranch, near Birney in Rosebud County, Montana.
Young Floyd's first "outside" job was on a cattle drive for John B. Kendrick. He also drove a tourist stage for the Buffalo Bill Stage line before drifting west in 1915 ending up in Los Angeles where he went to work as a wrangler on Universal's Ranch.
In 1917 he joined the army and served in the American Expeditionary Forces in France.
From 1921 through 1928 he appeared in twenty-two silent films, starring in many (mainly Westerns) under the name Wally Wales, and in 1929 made the successful transition to sound. Subsequently his star faded and he began appearing in much smaller roles, usually as Hal Taliaferro.
He retired from films in the early 1950s and returned to the family ranch, now known as the Bones Brothers Ranch (listed on the National Historical Register in 2004). He built a cabin there and lived out his remaining active years painting landscapes.
Taliaferro (/ˈtɒlɪvər/ TOL-i-vər), also spelled Tagliaferro, Talifero, Tellifero, Taliferro, Tolliver, or Toliver, is a prominent family in eastern Virginia and Maryland. The Taliaferros (originally Tagliaferro, Italian pronunciation: [ˌtaʎʎaˈfɛrro], which means "ironcutter" in Italian) are one of the early families who settled in Virginia in the 17th century. They migrated from London, where an ancestor had served as a musician in the court of Queen Elizabeth I. The surname in that line is believed to trace back to Bartholomew Taliaferro, a native of Venice who settled in London and was made a denizen in 1562.
The origins of the Taliaferro name were of interest to George Wythe, a Virginia colonial lawyer and classical scholar, who had married a Taliaferro. Wythe urged his former student and friend Thomas Jefferson to investigate the name when Jefferson traveled to Italy. Jefferson later reported to Wythe that he had found two families of the name in Tuscany, and that the family was of Italian origin. Jefferson enclosed his sketch of the coat of arms of the Tagliaferro family as reported to him by a friend in Florence, Italy.
George Francis "Gabby" Hayes (May 7, 1885 – February 9, 1969) was an American radio, film, and television actor. He was best known for his numerous appearances in Western films as the colorful sidekick to the leading man.
Hayes was born the third of seven children in his father's hotel in Stannards, New York, a hamlet just outside Wellsville, New York. (Hayes always gave Wellsville as his birthplace, but legally he was born in Stannards). He was the son of Elizabeth Morrison and Clark Hayes, and the nephew of George F. Morrison, vice president of General Electric. Hayes did not come from a cowboy background; in fact, he did not know how to ride a horse until he was in his forties and had to learn for film roles.
His father, Clark Hayes, operated the Hayes Hotel in Stannards and was also involved in oil production. George Hayes grew up in Stannards and attended Stannards School. He played semi-professional baseball while in high school, then ran away from home in 1902, at 17. He joined a stock company, apparently traveled for a time with a circus, and became a successful vaudevillian.

Created by Ben Wilson, this serial, which featured Hal Taliaferro (as Wally Wales) and Neva Gerber received only limited release in a few states. It was plagued with technical issues, being the first serial to use onscreen synchronized sound. One of the leads was apparently unsure if it had ever been released at all, but newspaper ads confirm it did exist and play in a few theatres in its entirety. Producer Ben Wilson died only months after the serial's release and it hasn't been seen or heard of since then till now. It is notable for its use of a Shadow-like character called "The Man from Nowhere," and the obvious first use of a mystery character who is heard but not seen. This presentation includes the surviving original dialogue, and narration of the action by Allyson Malandra. Restored...
