No titles. Children's Film Premiere.
London.
At the Odeon Cinema in Leicester Square we various shots of celebrities arriving with their children for the premiere of 'Lionheart'. The premiere takes place on the 25th anniversary of the Children's Film Foundation. Producer and director of the film, Michael Forlong arrives with his family. MP Anthony Buck arrives with his wife and children, followed by comedian Jimmy Edwards, film censor John Trevellyan with his two sons.
Singer / actor Joe Brown arrives. Henry Geddes, CFF executive producer is seen chatting to someone. Actor / director / writer and current head of Elstree Studios Bryan Forbes arrives with one of his daughters (not sure if it is Sarah or Emma). Cardew Robinson and his family arrive. John Davis chats to a young naval cadet. Actor Jon Pertwee arrives with his wife and two children (including Sean). Ian Hendry and Janet Munro arrive with their small child.
Inside the auditorium we see general view of the audience, mostly children, seated. Joe Brown, Chips Rafferty and boy actor James Forlong (stars of 'Lionheart') stand on the stage and make speeches (not heard). Several C/Us of children in the audience - lots of scouts and brownies.
Note: James Forlong's father is Michael Forlong, Associated Producer of AB Pathe.

Johnny Smith
John Henry "Johnny" Smith (June 25, 1922 – June 11, 2013) was an American cool jazz and mainstream jazz guitarist. He wrote the tune "Walk, Don't Run" in 1954. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama.
Early life
During the Great Depression, Smith's family moved from Birmingham through several cities, ending up in Portland, Maine.
Smith taught himself to play guitar in pawnshops, which let him play in exchange for keeping the guitars in tune. At thirteen years of age he was teaching others to play the guitar. One of Smith's students bought a new guitar and gave him his old guitar, which became the first guitar Smith owned.
Smith joined Uncle Lem and the Mountain Boys, a local hillbilly band that travelled around Maine, performing at dances, fairs and similar venues. Smith earned four dollars a night. He dropped out of high school to accommodate this enterprise.
Having become increasingly interested in the jazz bands that he heard on the radio, Smith gradually moved away from country music towards playing more jazz. He left The Mountain Boys when he was eighteen years old to join a variety trio called the Airport Boys.

Trans World Sport
Trans World Sport is a sports-related television programme produced by IMG Media in London and shown worldwide on a variety of television channels. It is world’s longest running weekly international television sports programme and has been in continuous production every week since 5 May 1987. Today, it is shown over 50 countries with a household reach of nearly 200 million. For over 25 years, they have endeavoured to bring not only the top names and events, but also the off-beat and esoteric stories from the world of sport.
The show was the brainchild of IMG founder, and sports marketing pioneer, Mark McCormack. Since its very first show, Trans World Sport's objective has remained the same; to bring its viewers the best, the most interesting and most informative stories from the world of sport. Their mantra has always been that there is no hierarchy in sport, and the idea is that what happens in La Liga has always been as important as what happens at the Sepak Takraw World Championship. They've had features on several sports stars including a 14-year-old Tiger Woods, a teenage Usain Bolt and Roger Federer, and on an 12-year-old Venus Williams and her 11-year-old sister, Serena Williams.

The premiere takes place on the 25th anniversary of the Children's Film Foundation. Producer and director of the film, Michael Forlong arrives with his family. MP Anthony Buck arrives with his wife and children, followed by comedian Jimmy Edwards, film censor John Trevellyan with his two sons.
Singer / actor Joe Brown arrives. Henry Geddes, CFF executive producer is seen chatting to someone. Actor / director / writer and current head of Elstree Studios Bryan Forbes arrives with one of his daughters (not sure if it is Sarah or Emma). Cardew Robinson and his family arrive. John Davis chats to a young naval cadet. Actor Jon Pertwee arrives with his wife and two children (including Sean). Ian Hendry and Janet Munro arrive with their small child.
Inside the auditorium we see general view of the audience, mostly children, seated. Joe Brown, Chips Rafferty and boy actor James Forlong (stars of 'Lionheart') stand on the stage and make speeches (not heard). Several C/Us of children in the audience - lots of scouts and brownies.

The premiere takes place on the 25th anniversary of the Children's Film Foundation. Producer and director of the film, Michael Forlong arrives with his family. MP Anthony Buck arrives with his wife and children, followed by comedian Jimmy Edwards, film censor John Trevellyan with his two sons.
Singer / actor Joe Brown arrives. Henry Geddes, CFF executive producer is seen chatting to someone. Actor / director / writer and current head of Elstree Studios Bryan Forbes arrives with one of his daughters (not sure if it is Sarah or Emma). Cardew Robinson and his family arrive. John Davis chats to a young naval cadet. Actor Jon Pertwee arrives with his wife and two children (including Sean). Ian Hendry and Janet Munro arrive with their small child.
Inside the auditorium we see general view of the audience, mostly children, seated. Joe Brown, Chips Rafferty and boy actor James Forlong (stars of 'Lionheart') stand on the stage and make speeches (not heard). Several C/Us of children in the audience - lots of scouts and brownies.
Note: James Forlong's father is Michael Forlong, Associated Producer of AB Pathe.

Following broadcast of ‘Chosen’ in September 08 on both More4 and then again in December on Channel4 (a terrestrial UK broadcaster) - more former pupils made statements to the police about alleged abuse at Caldicott. This included further complaints against Peter Wright and other former teachers including Hugh Henry, the man unnamed in the documentary who abused Mark Payge. Hugh Henry and Peter Wright were subsequently charged on the same indictment. Henry pleaded guilty on 11/05/12 to 10 indictments against 9 complainants from two schools.
He was released on bail to await sentence pending the outcome of the trial of Peter Wright. Media reporting restrictions applied throughout all the trials. David Keith Geddes, another teacher at Caldicott, went to trial on 14/01/13 charged with 5 indictments - it resulted in a hung Jury and a retrial on 11/03/13 again on 5 indictments. He was acquitted.
John Addrison, a former pupil of Caldicott who returned as a gap year teaching assistant, went on trial on 11/09/13 - He pleaded guilty to 13 indictments against 5 boys from two schools including Caldicott.
Peter Wright returned to court on 1/05/13 charged with 13 indictments against 5 new complainants. It delivered a hung Jury and Wright returned for court for retrial on 13/11/13 on 12 indictments. By unanimous verdict he was found guilty of all counts on 6/12/13. The five men whose cases were stayed in 2003 were witnesses of bad character. Reporting restrictions were finally lifted.
Mark Payge had meanwhile developed cancer from which he died on 22/5/13. For sometime Tom was unable to speak to his friend because of the legal process, particularly as Hugh Henry was on the same indictment as Wright. Not until the very end was permission granted. With Mark having returned home, and in a heavily medicated state Tom greeted him - 'hello big boy, that bad smell Tom Perry is back in your life.' The briefest of smiles appeared on Mark’s face, everybody saw it. Two days later, Mark died.
Both Wright and Henry were due to be sentenced on the 6/1/14 however on 4/1/14 Henry stood in front of a train close to the Court and was killed http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/paedophile-hugh-henry-killed-train-3115240 So even had Mark lived he would never have seen Henry sentenced. .
Wright received eight years imprisonment.

Hugh Henry and Peter Wright were subsequently charged on the same indictment. Henry pleaded guilty on 11/05/12 to 10 indictments against 9 complainants from two schools.
He was released on bail to await sentence pending the outcome of the trial of Peter Wright. Media reporting restrictions applied throughout all the trials. David Keith Geddes, another teacher at Caldicott, went to trial on 14/01/13 charged with 5 indictments - it resulted in a hung Jury and a retrial on 11/03/13 again on 5 indictments. He was acquitted.
John Addrison, a former pupil of Caldicott who returned as a gap year teaching assistant, went on trial on 11/09/13 - He pleaded guilty to 13 indictments against 5 boys from two schools including Caldicott.
Peter Wright returned to court on 1/05/13 charged with 13 indictments against 5 new complainants. It delivered a hung Jury and Wright returned for court for retrial on 13/11/13 on 12 indictments. By unanimous verdict he was found guilty of all counts on 6/12/13. The five men whose cases were stayed in 2003 were witnesses of bad character. Reporting restrictions were finally lifted.
Mark Payge had meanwhile developed cancer from which he died on 22/5/13. For sometime Tom was unable to speak to his friend because of the legal process, particularly as Hugh Henry was on the same indictment as Wright. Not until the very end was permission granted. With Mark having returned home, and in a heavily medicated state Tom greeted him - 'hello big boy, that bad smell Tom Perry is back in your life.' The briefest of smiles appeared on Mark’s face, everybody saw it. Two days later, Mark died.
Both Wright and Henry were due to be sentenced on the 6/1/14 however on 4/1/14 Henry stood in front of a train close to the Court and was killed http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/paedophile-hugh-henry-killed-train-3115240 So even had Mark lived he would never have seen Henry sentenced. .
Wright received eight years imprisonment.

"Compact quasi-monoenergetic photon applications and sources for nuclear applications"
Abstract
Near-monoenergetic photon sources at MeV energies offer improved sensitivity at reduced dose for nuclear nonproliferation and related applications. Assessments of application-specific benefit from mono energetic photons will be described, including for cargo screening, active interrogation, treaty verification, nondestructive assay, and emergency response. Thomson (also referred to as Compton) scattering sources are an established method to produce appropriate photon beams. Applications are however restricted by the size of the required high-energy electron accelerator, scattering (photon production) system, and shielding for disposal of the high-energy electron beam. Laser-plasma accelerators (LPAs) produce GeV electron beams in centimeters, using the plasma wave driven by the radiation pressure of an intense laser. Designs, and development of an experimental facility to demonstrate a compact photon source using such accelerators will be described, together with the path to a application-relevant photon source system.
About Dr. Geddes
Dr. Geddes is a staff scientist in the BELLA center of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, investigating use of laser driven plasma waves to build compact next generation particle accelerators and photon sources. These accelerators sustain much higher accelerating fields than conventional devices, allowing compact machines. His current project is developing compact sources of near-monochromatic MeV photons for nuclear material detection and characterization.
