Aphrodite's Child was a Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967, by Vangelis (keyboards), Demis Roussos (bass guitar and vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Anargyros "Silver" Koulouris (guitar).[1] Their band's name was derived from the title of a track from another Mercury act, Dick Campbell, from his Sings Where It's At album. Papathanassiou and Roussos had already been successful in Greece (playing in the bands Formynx and Idols respectively) while they got together with Sideras and Koulouris to form a new band. Their first recording as a band was for George Romanos' album In Concert and in Studio where they played on four songs and were credited as 'Vangelis and his Orchestra'. In the same year they recorded a two song demo and submitted it to Philips Records.

Aegean Sea
The Aegean Sea (/ᵻˈdʒiːən/; Greek: Αιγαίο Πέλαγος [eˈʝeo ˈpelaɣos]; Turkish: Ege Denizi Turkish pronunciation: [e̞ɟe̞ de̞n̪iz̪i]) is an elongated embayment of the Mediterranean Sea located between the Greek and Anatolian peninsulas, i.e., between the mainlands of Greece and Turkey. In the north, it is connected to the Marmara Sea and Black Sea by the Dardanelles and Bosporus. The Aegean Islands are within the sea and some bound it on its southern periphery, including Crete and Rhodes.
The sea was traditionally known as Archipelago (in Greek, Αρχιπέλαγος, meaning "chief sea"), but in English this word's meaning has changed to refer to the Aegean Islands and, generally, to any island group.
Etymology
In ancient times, there were various explanations for the name Aegean. It was said to have been named after the Greek town of Aegae, or after Aegea, a queen of the Amazons who died in the sea, or Aigaion, the "sea goat", another name of Briareus, one of the archaic Hecatonchires, or, especially among the Athenians, Aegeus, the father of Theseus, who drowned himself in the sea when he thought his son had died.

Aphrodite's Child was a Greek progressive rock band formed in 1967, by Vangelis Papathanassiou (keyboards), Demis Roussos (bass guitar and vocals), Loukas Sideras (drums and vocals), and Silver Koulouris (guitar).
History
Origins
Papathanassiou and Roussos had already been successful in Greece (playing in the bands Formynx and Idols respectively) when they got together with Sideras and Koulouris (born 26 January 1947, Piraeus, Greece) to form a new band. Their band's name was derived from the title of a track from another Mercury act, Dick Campbell, from his Sings Where It's At album.
Their first recording as a band was for George Romanos' album In Concert and in Studio where they played on four songs and were credited as "Vangelis and his Orchestra". In the same year they recorded a two-song demo and submitted it to Philips Records. It was probably Vangelis' idea that the still-anonymous band should be relocated to London, which would be a more suitable environment for their music, as their country had entered a right-wing dictatorship in 1967. This decision, however, was not problem-free. Koulouris had to stay in Greece to fulfill his military service, while the band, on their way to London, got stuck in Paris partly because they did not have the correct work permits and partly because of the strikes associated with the May 1968 events.

the largest island of a small, circular archipelago which bears
the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera. It forms
the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands, with
an area of approximately 73 km2 (28 sq mi) and a 2011 census
population of 15,550. The municipality of Santorini comprises
the inhabited islands of Santorini and Therasia and the uninhabited islands of Nea Kameni, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi, and Christiana. The total land area is 90.623 km2 (34.990 sq mi). Santorini is part of the Thira regional unit.
Santorini is essentially what remains after an enormous volcanic
eruption that destroyed the earliest settlements on a formerly
single island, and created the current geological caldera. A giant
central, rectangular lagoon, which measures about 12 by 7 km
(7.5 by 4.3 mi), is surrounded by 300 m (980 ft) high, steep cliffs
on three sides. The main island slopes downward to the Aegean Sea. On the fourth side, the lagoon is separated from the sea by another much smaller island called Therasia; the lagoon is connected to the sea in two places, in the northwest and southwest. The depth of the caldera, at 400m, makes it possible for all but the largest ships to anchor anywhere in the protected bay; there is also a newly built marina at Vlychada, on the southwestern coast. The island's principal port is Athinias. The capital, Fira, clings to the top of the cliff looking down on the lagoon. The volcanic rocks present from the prior eruptions
feature olivine and have a small presence of hornblende.

Not the largest of the Dodecanese Islands but certainly one of its most fascinating. The capital of the island is Chora Kos. Following their arrival from Jerusalem in the 14th century, the Order of the Knights of Malta built a huge fortified complex in the town.The city’s spacious square is surrounded by numerous buildings plus a museum. There are stone busts and statues of the Roman and Hellenistic eras that offer a good insight into the imaginative culture of a golden age. In the square, a number of steps lead up to the city’s cathedral, the Agia Paraskevi. Not a large structure but extremely modern and well located in the centre of the town.Only four kilometres from the city, high in the Dikeos Mountains is one of the island’s most important sights, the asklepieion, an ancient hospital and sanctuary. It was here that the Greeks worshipped the god of medicine who was later named Askulap by the Romans.Rhodes was one of the most important cities in antiquity and fended off attack due to its impressively tall defensive walls. The mighty-looking fortification was in reality a deception, as it was far from sturdy but its many defensive towers and pinnacles had their desired effect.Lindos is the most beautiful village in Rhodes with Paulus Bay and an acropolis that is located high above the sea.It was here that the sun was born and where the gods, knights and tourists have always sought good fortune and been captivated with the enchanting islands of the Dodecanese.

ATHENS: GREEK ISLES & THE PARTHENON
We begin in Athens, capital of Greece and one of the world’s oldest cities. From our hotel located in the historic Plaka district, we spend two days experiencing the culture of the city by visiting the Parthenon, Acropolis and the Agora Central Market. Led by a local guide, we walk through more modern neighborhoods to Athens’ boardwalk for spectacular views of the Aegean Sea.
PELOPONNESE MOUNTAINS: RAFT, HIKE & ZIP LINE
We head into the Peloponnesian Mountains just west of the city. Rafting the Alfios River, we enjoy the whitewater and take the time to visit ancient Greek ruins along the shore. Next, we spend two days hiking through the Loussios River past historic ruins and pristine waterfalls. At the end of our hike, we zip-line across the river and stop at the Olympia archeological site, the birth place of the Olympic Games. Stationed at an idyllic campsite for the duration of these adventures, our time in the Peloponnese is pure paradise!
ITALY: HIKE THE AMALFI COAST
From the port city of Patra, we take an overnight ferry to Bari, Italy. We spend the next day tracing the “Walk of the Gods,” a spectacular hike along cliffs towering above the sea. After our magnificent hike, we soak in the culture of Positano, a quaint village famous for its beaches, medieval architecture and steep streets.
ROME: POMPEII & VATICAN CITY
Just before reaching Rome, we spend a morning exploring the ruins and learning the mysteries that surround the ancient city of Pompeii. Upon arriving in Rome, we explore the Coliseum and venture to Vatican City, marveling at St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. With roots dating back more than 2000 years, Rome is one of the world’s greatest cities and the perfect place to celebrate an amazing two weeks together

A Chihuahua-mix puppy was found in a Las Vegas airport bathroom with a handwritten note detailing that the dog's owner was fleeing from domestic violence and had run out of options, according to CBS News. The dog was found last weekend in the airport bathroom with an anonymous note that read,"My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn't afford me to get on the flight." ...
