HTC Ocean Life mid-range smartphone with Edge Sense, Bluetooth 5.0 leaked
The HTC Ocean Life is said to run on an unannounced Sense 9.0, and will be powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC.
HTC is reportedly working on a mid-range smartphone which would possibly be a part of its recently launched U series. The smartphone in question is codenamed ‘Ocean Life’ and appears to be an upgraded variant of the HTC U Play in terms of its leaked specifications. HTC had launched the U Play along with the U Ultra earlier this year.
This information comes from leakster LlabTooFeR who posted detailed specifications of the HTC Ocean Life on Twitter. For a mid-range smartphone, the Ocean Life comes with quite impressive specifications. According to the leak, the HTC Ocean Life will feature a 5.2-inch Full HD (1080p) display, and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood. In the photography department, the Ocean Life will sport a 16-megapixel camera on the front and the back as well. The HTC U Play too comes with the same display size, and camera options.

The Ocean Life will be fuelled by a 2,600mAh battery, and will come with the latest Bluetooth 5.0 support. On the software front, it will run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box. Additionally, the smartphone is said to feature Sense 9.0 UI, which hasn’t been officially released by HTC yet. Like the other U smartphones, the Ocean Life is said to come without a 3.5mm audio jack, and users will be compensated with HTC’s USB Type-C headphones, the USonic. Another interesting feature is that the Ocean Life will come with Edge Sense, which debuted on HTC’s flagship smartphone, the U 11. HTC’s Edge Sense technology allows users to basically squeeze the sides of the U 11 to perform different functions like launching the camera or Google Assistant. The Ocean Life in essence seems to come with with improved specs and features when compared to the U Play. Some notable differences include a slightly bigger battery, different processor, and upgraded OS.
