Film festival
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Northeast Film Festival
The Northeast Film Festival is a film festival founded in 2013 in Teaneck, NJ at the historic Teaneck Cinemas. Held annually in September, the festival features both US and international films with competition in feature length and short fiction as well as documentaries and student films. The 2015 Northeast Film Festival was held from September 11–13 and is run by founder and festival director Larry Rosen. The 2016 Northeast Film Festival will be held September 9–11.

The 2013 Northeast Film Festival was originally held in Maplewood, NJ while the Teaneck Cinemas was undergoing construction. 26 films were shown from September 13–15 with comedian Mary Dimino hosting the awards gala. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to 2 time Emmy nominated actor David Harris. The feature film Surviving Family won awards for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor (Vincent Pastore), Best Screenplay and Breakout Performance. The short film Maniac won 3 awards including Best Short (Producer Sam Borowski), Best Director (Sam Borowski) and Best Actor (Bill Sorvino). Other winners and nominees included Edie McClurg, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Gianni Russo, Scott Wolf, Olympia Dukakis, and Phyllis Somerville.

This is a short documentary I just finished in this month and sent it to a documentary exhibition in Hong Kong. The footages were shot in 2008 though, I went to Tibet and lived for 4 months, I visited a village in Tibet and visited the other on the half way in yunnan-tibet road when I took bus back to Kunming. Those two villages are both Tibetan, they made interesting potteries which is very different from Han style.

Within five days it had drawn a million views. This 21-year-old Maltese-Australian got a guitar from her grandfather when she was three, she says, and has played it every day since. Getting that out of the way, the panel welcomed Courtney Ware, fabulous straight girl, community ally and volunteer to the Brass Rail studio where the theme for this week's webisode was Pride, Pride more Pride. The crew talked Pride events, Pride parties, Pride fundraisers, oh, and Pride decorations. Ian even asked everyone what Pride meant to them. They did find some time to talk about coming out in the Hip Hop community how young is too young to gender transition. If you need a reminder about the story unfolding, here's Complex Style's associate editor Karizza Sanchez: In 1994, James Jebbia opened the first Supreme location in a small storefront on Lafayette Street in New York. At the time, Supreme was a brand for skaters by skaters—even the design for the shop was more open so skaters could come right in with their skateboards. But today, 21 years later, Supreme is a legendary streetwear brand that’s cultivated a cult following well beyond that original fan base.
Continuing to release product in tightly controlled, limited amounts, the brand is as big as it wants to be in New York, Los Angeles, and London; a titan in Japan—arguably its largest market. Complex has covered Supreme for well over a decade (Complex was founded in 2002). Most of it was from afar; we wrote about releases or lookbooks. But for the last year or so, our Complex News team has been reporting from the Lafayette Street shop to cover in-store launches. Every story was the same:
Lines snaked around the block, kids camped out for hours or days, sometimes even in subfreezing temperatures, just to get any Supreme item. Each Thursday drop was chaos. In April 2014, the NYPD canceled the Supreme x Nike Air Foamposite One in-store launch at the NYC flagship after a riot nearly broke out earlier that day. But there was something much bigger here. We learned that many were in line to purchase gear that they’d later flip online for big profits, selling apparel and other items for as much as 1,200 percent above retail value.
“We started to get to know these people and realized there was a business here and real money to be made,” explains Emily Oberg, Complex Editorial Producer and one of the directors of this documentary. While the reselling market is hardly new, and people have been selling Supreme online for years, it’s yet to be the focus of serious investigation—until now.

We had a lot of requests for the Eat It or Wear It Challenge…so, by popular demand…here is Whitney and Blakely’s Eat it or Wear it Challenge! This challenge was completely disgusting, gross, and fun at the same time. The girls enjoyed dumping various condiments and bean-based goodies on each other’s heads. Blakely is not a very adventurous eater, and as a result, she chose to wear most of the food choices as opposed to eating them. Whitney seldom backs down from a challenge, and as a result, she wound up eating such tasty items as sardines and dog food.
The girls understand that this challenge was very wasteful and that there are many people in the world that do not have enough food to eat. The girls are grateful that hunger is not an issue in their lives. Following this challenge, each girl filled a bag of canned goods to be donated at their church.

This is a short documentary I just finished in this month and sent it to a documentary exhibition in Hong Kong. The footages were shot in 2008 though, I went to Tibet and lived for 4 months, I visited a village in Tibet and visited the other on the half way in yunnan-tibet road when I took bus back to Kunming. Those two villages are both Tibetan, they made interesting potteries which is very different from Han style.

Bob Boilen | April 7, 2017 - Last May, Tash Sultana posted a self-made video, just her in her living room with guitar, laptop and a great song called "Jungle." Within five days it had drawn a million views.
This 21-year-old Maltese-Australian got a guitar from her grandfather when she was three, she says, and has played it every day since. It's astonishing to watch Sultana's fluidity on her instrument, like a natural extension of her body. (She also plays bass, saxophone, trumpet, flute and more, but kept it "simple" at the Tiny Desk.) I thought I had a lot of energy — watching her bounce from guitar to drum machine to two separate microphones — and then hopping barefoot from looping pedal to effect pedal as she builds her songs was exhilarating and exhausting. There's more here than an exercise in virtuosity, her music is filled with adventure and ambition. These songs are rapturous and resonant.
Tash has just finished a month-long, sold-out U.S. tour.

Angel Olsen came to the Tiny Desk on an odd autumn day, as an impending storm loomed outside our office windows. It all seemed just right for occasion: Watch her and you'll see calm in her eyes; listen to her and you'll sense torment in her heart. Olsen gave us a preview of her third record on that October day; she wouldn't tell us the title, but she did say the word "Burn" with a hint of the title in the words to a song she'd sing. Now, months later and just a few weeks before the release of Burn Your Fire for No Witness, we can share this exclusive preview.
Olsen is a Missouri-born — and now Asheville, N.C.-based — musician via Chicago. The new record was produced by John Congleton with a new band featuring Josh Jaeger on drums and bassist Stewart Bronaugh. The trio began rehearsing these songs in a church turned recording studio in Asheville over the summer. The songs are at times explosive and at times lulling. At the Tiny Desk, the expressive and powerful singer stood alone, and in the process gave us the perfect way to first hear these songs. --BOB BOILEN
