Ted Cruz Grills Sally Yates on Refusing To Defend Travel ban Executive Order 5/8/17. Ted Cruz and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates squared off in a testy showdown over President Donald Trump‘s proposed travel ban — which, in its original form, proposed a ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.
Yates was fired by Trump after refusing to implement the ban, which was eventually ruled to be unconstitutional by a Federal Circuit Court.
The Texas senator, in his allotted time for questioning at Monday’s Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing about interference in the 2016 election, pressed Yates on the ban. He asked if she was familiar with 8 U.S.C. 1182. Yates said she wasn’t.“Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination,” Cruz said. “So it certainly is a relevant and not a terribly obscure statute.”
Cruz then proceeded to quote from the statute:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any alien or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interest of the United States, he may by proclamation and for such period as he shall deem necessary suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem appropriate.
“Would you agree that that is broad statutory authorization?” Cruz asked.
Yates wasted no time with her response:
“I would, and I am familiar with that, and I’m also familiar with an additional provision of the INA that says ‘no person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a visa because of race, nationality or place of birth.’ That, I believe, was promulgated after the statute that you just quoted. And that’s been part of the discussion with the courts with respect to the INA is whether this more specific statute trumps the first one that you just described. But my concern was not an INA concern here. It rather was a Constitutional concern, whether or not the executive order here violated the Constitution specifically with the establishment clause and equal protection and due process.”

Ted Cruz
Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz (born December 22, 1970) is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Texas. He is a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States, in the 2016 presidential election.
Cruz graduated from Princeton University in 1992, and from Harvard Law School in 1995. Between 1999 and 2003, Cruz was the director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission, an associate deputy attorney general at the United States Department of Justice, and domestic policy advisor to President George W. Bush on the 2000 George W. Bush presidential campaign. He served as Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 to 2008, appointed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. He was the first Hispanic, and the longest-serving solicitor general, in Texas history. From 2004 to 2009, Cruz was also an adjunct professor of law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.
Cruz ran for the Senate seat vacated by fellow Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison, and in July 2012 defeated Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst during the Republican primary runoff, 57%–43%. Cruz then defeated former state Representative Paul Sadler in the November 2012 general election, winning 56%–41%. He is the first Hispanic American to serve as a U.S. senator representing Texas, and is one of three Senators of Cuban descent. Cruz chairs the United States Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, Federal Rights and Agency Activities, and is also the chairman of the United States Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Space, Science and Competitiveness. In November 2012, he was appointed vice-chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Sally Yates
Sally Quillian Yates (born August 20, 1960) is the Deputy Attorney General of the United States, as of March 2015.
Early Life and Education
Yates was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia, receiving her B.A. degree in 1982. Her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, is from the University of Georgia Law School, awarded in 1986.
Career
From 1985 to 1989, Yates practiced with King & Spalding, in Atlanta. From 1989 to 2015, she was with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia, rising from Assistant U.S. Attorney in 1994 to Chief of the Fraud and Public Corruption Section, in 2002 to First Assistant U.S. Attorney, in 2004 to Acting U.S. Attorney, and in 2010 to U.S. Attorney. She was the lead prosecutor in the prosecution of Olympic bomber Eric Rudolph. During her time as a U.S. Attorney, Yates was appointed by Attorney General Eric Holder to serve as Vice Chair of the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee.

On May 13, 2015, the United States Senate voted 84-12 to confirm Yates as Deputy Attorney General of the United States.

Trazendo a Arca
Trazendo a Arca is a Christian band from Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. The group was formed in 2002 in the Church Ministério Apascentar, and is one of the groups of Christian music's most successful in Brazil. In 2003 they released the album entitled Restitution, which sold over a million copies, becoming the fourth CD of gospel music's best-selling Brazil. They sold about five million albums, participated in the Talent Trophy between 2005 and 2009. They released twelve albums, and four records on DVD. In 2007, the group split from the Church and the group's initial name "Toque no Altar" was variously called the current name. In September 2007 released an album recorded live in Japan, in 2008, recorded a DVD in Rio de Janeiro, and all food collected by the group were sent to poor municipalities in the state of Minas Gerais.
In 2011 they recorded their first DVD in the United States at Orlando, Florida, and was attended bythree thousand people.

Ted Cruz and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates squared off in a testy showdown over President Donald Trump‘s proposed travel ban — which, in its original form, proposed a ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.
Yates was fired by Trump after refusing to implement the ban, which was eventually ruled to be unconstitutional by a Federal Circuit Court.
The Texas senator, in his allotted time for questioning at Monday’s Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing about interference in the 2016 election, pressed Yates on the ban. He asked if she was familiar with 8 U.S.C. 1182. Yates said she wasn’t.“Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination,” Cruz said. “So it certainly is a relevant and not a terribly obscure statute.”
Cruz then proceeded to quote from the statute:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any alien or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interest of the United States, he may by proclamation and for such period as he shall deem necessary suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem appropriate.
“Would you agree that that is broad statutory authorization?” Cruz asked.
Yates wasted no time with her response:
“I would, and I am familiar with that, and I’m also familiar with an additional provision of the INA that says ‘no person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a visa because of race, nationality or place of birth.’ That, I believe, was promulgated after the statute that you just quoted. And that’s been part of the discussion with the courts with respect to the INA is whether this more specific statute trumps the first one that you just described. But my concern was not an INA concern here. It rather was a Constitutional concern, whether or not the executive order here violated the Constitution specifically with the establishment clause and equal protection and due process.”

Ted Cruz and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates squared off in a testy showdown over President Donald Trump‘s proposed travel ban — which, in its original form, proposed a ban on travel to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries.
Yates was fired by Trump after refusing to implement the ban, which was eventually ruled to be unconstitutional by a Federal Circuit Court.
The Texas senator, in his allotted time for questioning at Monday’s Senate Judiciary subcommittee hearing about interference in the 2016 election, pressed Yates on the ban. He asked if she was familiar with 8 U.S.C. 1182. Yates said she wasn’t.“Well, it is the binding statutory authority for the executive order that you refused to implement and that led to your termination,” Cruz said. “So it certainly is a relevant and not a terribly obscure statute.”
Cruz then proceeded to quote from the statute:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any alien or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interest of the United States, he may by proclamation and for such period as he shall deem necessary suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or non-immigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem appropriate.
“Would you agree that that is broad statutory authorization?” Cruz asked.
Yates wasted no time with her response:
“I would, and I am familiar with that, and I’m also familiar with an additional provision of the INA that says ‘no person shall receive preference or be discriminated against in issuance of a visa because of race, nationality or place of birth.’ That, I believe, was promulgated after the statute that you just quoted. And that’s been part of the discussion with the courts with respect to the INA is whether this more specific statute trumps the first one that you just described. But my concern was not an INA concern here. It rather was a Constitutional concern, whether or not the executive order here violated the Constitution specifically with the establishment clause and equal protection and due process.”

Of the remaining three-quarters who do not support repeal, the overwhelming majority do say they support making changes to the law -- though they define these changes differently: 30% of those surveyed hoped to expand on the existing ACA; 17% wanted to scale back on what the ACA does.
Just 19% wanted to keep the ACA in its present form.
"When you have 28 million people who have no health insurance, that's rationing," Sanders said. "When you have people who can't afford to go to the doctor or can't afford to buy prescription drugs -- one out of five Americans can't afford the prescription drugs their doctors prescribe -- that's called rationing, except there's no rule on that. There's no law on that. It's just people don't have the money to buy what they need."
According to data from the National Health Interview Survey, 28.4 million Americans were uninsured in 2016.
Previously, 44.8 million Americans were uninsured in 2013, according to NHIS data. The percentage of Americans who were uninsured dropped from 16% in 2010 to 8.9% in the first half of 2016.
Kaiser Family Foundation reported that of those still uninsured at the end of 2015, 46% said they did not get coverage because it was too expensive.

Hoy ha sido invitado a predicar en la IBI el pastor Sugel Michelen, quien trajo el mensaje La Teología De La Cruz, basado en la primera carta del apóstol Pablo a los Corintios, capítulo 1, versículos del 17 al 25.
Recordamos que esta primera carta del apóstol Pablo a los Corintios tiene el propósito de reprender la conducta desordenada de muchos, y para aconsejar acerca de algunos puntos sobre los que los Corintios solicitaron su juicio, de modo que el alcance era doble:
1.- Aplicar remedios apropiados a los desórdenes y abusos que prevalecían entre ellos.
2.- Dar respuespuesa satisfactoria a todos los puntos sobre los cuales deseaban de su consejo.
El apóstol expone la verdad y la voluntad de Dios acerca de diversas materias con gran fuerza argumentativa y animado estilo. En estos versículos expone la doctrina del Salvador crucificado, que promueve la gloria de Dios.
Pablo había sido criado en el saber judío; pero la clara predicación de Jesús crucificado era más poderosa que toda la oratoria y filosofía del mundo pagano. Esta es la suma y la sustancia del evangelio. Cristo crucificado es el fundamento de todas nuestras esperanzas, la fuente de todo nuestro gozo. Nosotros vivimos por su muerte. La predicación de la salvación de los pecadores perdidos por los sufrimientos y la muerte del Hijo de Dios, si se explica y aplica fielmente, parece locura para los que van por el camino de la destrucción. El sensual, el codicioso, el ambicioso, el orgulloso, por igual, ven que el evangelio se opone a sus empresas preferidas. Pero los que reciben el evangelio, y son iluminados por el Espíritu de Dios, ven más de la sabiduría y el poder de Dios en la doctrina de Cristo crucificado, que en todas sus otras obras. Dios dejó a una gran parte de humanidad librada a seguir los dictados de la razón jactanciosa del hombre, y el hecho ha demostrado que la sabiduría humana es necedad, e incapaz de encontrar o retener el conocimiento de Dios como Creador. Agradó a Dios salvar a los creyentes por la locura de la predicación. Por la locura de la predicación, no por lo que justamente podría llamarse predicación loca, sino que la cosa predicada era locura para los hombres sabios según el mundo. El evangelio siempre fue, y será necedad para todos los que van por el camino de la destrucción. El mensaje de la cruz, entregado con sencillez, ha sido siempre una piedra de toque por la cual los hombres pueden saber por qué camino viajan. Pero la despreciada doctrina de la salvación por fe en el Salvador crucificado, Dios en naturaleza humana que compra a la iglesia con su sangre, para salvar a multitudes, a todos los que creen, de la ignorancia, el engaño y el vicio, ha sido bendecida en toda época. Los instrumentos más débiles que Dios usa, son más fuertes en sus efectos que los hombres más fuertes. No se trata que haya necedad o debilidad en Dios, sino que lo que los hombres consieran tales, superan toda su admirada sabiduría y poder.
Dios ha decidido que nadie sea salvado por medio de grandes conocimientos científicos, sino por el acto sencillo y ordinario de la predicación de Su Palabra. Sustituir la predicación del evangelio no podrá llevar a nadie arrepentido a los piés de Cristo. No venimos a la iglesia a escuchar un mensaje positivo y que nos haga descansar del estress, venimos a la iglesia a escuchar el mensaje de Dios, de Cristo crucificado, cuya muerte fue utilizada para nuestra salvación.
La teología de la cruz no solo transforma nuestra perspectiva de la vida, sino también transforma nuestra perspectiva del amor de Dios. El amor de Dios es diferente al amor que nosotros los humanos conocemos. Dios no se mueve por aquello que le parece atractivo, sino al contrario, se motiva por aquellas cosas que le parecen desagradables, para trabajar en nosotros y convertirnos en agradable. Dios escoge lo repulsivo para hacerlo puro y santo, para transformarlo. El amor de Dios nunca cambia, nunca falla. Su amor es soberano. Ha determinado no dejarnos igual a como nos encontró.
Muchas veces el amor de Dios se econde detrás del dolor y la aflicción. Muchos aspectos de nuestro carácter no son parecidos a Cristo, por lo que Dios utiliza el martillo y el cincel para tallar dolorosamente en nosotros para moldear nuestro carácter y que cuando lleguemos a gloria seamos más parecidos a Cristo. Así que el dolor y la aflicción son obras de Dios para hacernos bien, para hacernos más parecidos a Cristo. El sufrimiento nos lleva a lo más bajo, destruye nuestro orgullo para llevarnos a confiar más en Dios. Este sufrimiento que vivimos es parte del poder de Dios para santificarnos.
La teología del creyente es la teología de la cruz. Dios nos debilita para fortalecernos. Murió en la cruz en debilidad para darnos vida.
Padre celestial, fortalece nuestra fe. Que tu sacrificio en la cruz podamos verlo como un ejemplo de amor por cada uno de nosotros. Gracias por Tu misericordia. Bendiciones.

Hoy ha sido invitado a predicar en la IBI el pastor Sugel Michelen, quien trajo el mensaje La Teología De La Cruz, basado en la primera carta del apóstol Pablo a los Corintios, capítulo 1, versículos del 17 al 25.
Recordamos que esta primera carta del apóstol Pablo a los Corintios tiene el propósito de reprender la conducta desordenada de muchos, y para aconsejar acerca de algunos puntos sobre los que los Corintios solicitaron su juicio, de modo que el alcance era doble:
1.- Aplicar remedios apropiados a los desórdenes y abusos que prevalecían entre ellos.
2.- Dar respuespuesa satisfactoria a todos los puntos sobre los cuales deseaban de su consejo.
El apóstol expone la verdad y la voluntad de Dios acerca de diversas materias con gran fuerza argumentativa y animado estilo. En estos versículos expone la doctrina del Salvador crucificado, que promueve la gloria de Dios.
Pablo había sido criado en el saber judío; pero la clara predicación de Jesús crucificado era más poderosa que toda la oratoria y filosofía del mundo pagano. Esta es la suma y la sustancia del evangelio. Cristo crucificado es el fundamento de todas nuestras esperanzas, la fuente de todo nuestro gozo. Nosotros vivimos por su muerte. La predicación de la salvación de los pecadores perdidos por los sufrimientos y la muerte del Hijo de Dios, si se explica y aplica fielmente, parece locura para los que van por el camino de la destrucción. El sensual, el codicioso, el ambicioso, el orgulloso, por igual, ven que el evangelio se opone a sus empresas preferidas. Pero los que reciben el evangelio, y son iluminados por el Espíritu de Dios, ven más de la sabiduría y el poder de Dios en la doctrina de Cristo crucificado, que en todas sus otras obras. Dios dejó a una gran parte de humanidad librada a seguir los dictados de la razón jactanciosa del hombre, y el hecho ha demostrado que la sabiduría humana es necedad, e incapaz de encontrar o retener el conocimiento de Dios como Creador. Agradó a Dios salvar a los creyentes por la locura de la predicación. Por la locura de la predicación, no por lo que justamente podría llamarse predicación loca, sino que la cosa predicada era locura para los hombres sabios según el mundo. El evangelio siempre fue, y será necedad para todos los que van por el camino de la destrucción. El mensaje de la cruz, entregado con sencillez, ha sido siempre una piedra de toque por la cual los hombres pueden saber por qué camino viajan. Pero la despreciada doctrina de la salvación por fe en el Salvador crucificado, Dios en naturaleza humana que compra a la iglesia con su sangre, para salvar a multitudes, a todos los que creen, de la ignorancia, el engaño y el vicio, ha sido bendecida en toda época. Los instrumentos más débiles que Dios usa, son más fuertes en sus efectos que los hombres más fuertes. No se trata que haya necedad o debilidad en Dios, sino que lo que los hombres consieran tales, superan toda su admirada sabiduría y poder.
Dios ha decidido que nadie sea salvado por medio de grandes conocimientos científicos, sino por el acto sencillo y ordinario de la predicación de Su Palabra. Sustituir la predicación del evangelio no podrá llevar a nadie arrepentido a los piés de Cristo. No venimos a la iglesia a escuchar un mensaje positivo y que nos haga descansar del estress, venimos a la iglesia a escuchar el mensaje de Dios, de Cristo crucificado, cuya muerte fue utilizada para nuestra salvación.
La teología de la cruz no solo transforma nuestra perspectiva de la vida, sino también transforma nuestra perspectiva del amor de Dios. El amor de Dios es diferente al amor que nosotros los humanos conocemos. Dios no se mueve por aquello que le parece atractivo, sino al contrario, se motiva por aquellas cosas que le parecen desagradables, para trabajar en nosotros y convertirnos en agradable. Dios escoge lo repulsivo para hacerlo puro y santo, para transformarlo. El amor de Dios nunca cambia, nunca falla. Su amor es soberano. Ha determinado no dejarnos igual a como nos encontró.
Muchas veces el amor de Dios se econde detrás del dolor y la aflicción. Muchos aspectos de nuestro carácter no son parecidos a Cristo, por lo que Dios utiliza el martillo y el cincel para tallar dolorosamente en nosotros para moldear nuestro carácter y que cuando lleguemos a gloria seamos más parecidos a Cristo. Así que el dolor y la aflicción son obras de Dios para hacernos bien, para hacernos más parecidos a Cristo. El sufrimiento nos lleva a lo más bajo, destruye nuestro orgullo para llevarnos a confiar más en Dios. Este sufrimiento que vivimos es parte del poder de Dios para santificarnos.
La teología del creyente es la teología de la cruz. Dios nos debilita para fortalecernos. Murió en la cruz en debilidad para darnos vida.
Padre celestial, fortalece nuestra fe. Que tu sacrificio en la cruz podamos verlo como un ejemplo de amor por cada uno de nosotros. Gracias por Tu misericordia. Bendiciones.
