Joy Division "Ceremony" is a song by Joy Division, released as New Order's debut single in 1981. The song, as well as the B-side, "In a Lonely Place", were written as Joy Division prior to the death of Ian Curtis. Both were carried over to the band's re-incarnation as New Order.
After the death of Ian Curtis, the remaining members of Joy Division renamed the band New Order. Their first release was a re-recording of "Ceremony" as a stand-alone single backed with "In a Lonely Place", with guitarist Bernard Sumner taking over lead vocals. Sumner said that he had to put the "Ceremony" rehearsal tape as sung by Curtis through a graphic equalizer to transcribe the lyrics

Oliver Ackermann
Oliver Edward Ackermann is the founder of the Brooklyn-based effects pedal company Death By Audio and is the guitarist/vocalist of A Place to Bury Strangers which has been hailed as "the loudest band in New York".
Biography
Ackermann was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He spent his childhood in St. Peter, Minnesota and Fredericksburg, Virginia attending Falmouth Elementary School, Drew Middle School, and Stafford High School.
Ackermann studied Industrial Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. He returned to Fredericksburg, Virginia and worked at Zolo Designs.
Ackermann currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and is a contributor to the Death By Audio space and collective.
Musical career
In 1995, Ackermann formed Skywave with Paul Baker. The duo joined with John Fedowitz on drums and put out recordings and toured during 1998 to 2003.
In 2001, Ackermann started the effects pedal company Death By Audio.
While Baker and Fedowitz formed Ceremony, Ackermann moved to Brooklyn in 2003 and formed the band A Place to Bury Strangers with Tim Gregorio on bass and Justin Avery on drums.

After letting us know which DBA pedal people don't deserve, we quickly go through the features of their new Deep Animation Envelope Filter pedal. A really awesome and unique filter pedal with a dedicated foot-switch to toggle between UP and DOWN filter slope, external trigger input for contact mics/drum machines/samplers or whatever you want to throw at it, letting you trigger the filter to a dedicated beat. Such a cool pedal!

Joy Division "Ceremony" is a song by Joy Division, released as New Order's debut single in 1981. The song, as well as the B-side, "In a Lonely Place", were written as Joy Division prior to the death of Ian Curtis. Both were carried over to the band's re-incarnation as New Order.
After the death of Ian Curtis, the remaining members of Joy Division renamed the band New Order. Their first release was a re-recording of "Ceremony" as a stand-alone single backed with "In a Lonely Place", with guitarist Bernard Sumner taking over lead vocals. Sumner said that he had to put the "Ceremony" rehearsal tape as sung by Curtis through a graphic equalizer to transcribe the lyrics

Trent Reznor von den Nine Inch Nails wertschätzt APTBS (so die gängige Abkürzung des Bandnamens) und nahm sie mit auf Tour. Und auch mit dem Black Rebel Motorcycle waren A Place To Bury Strangers schon unterwegs.
A Place To Bury Strangers spielen Noise Rock, bei dem Chaos und Struktur den Sound gleichermaßen in Schwung halten. Das Trio versteht sich auf psychedelische Momente und hat Hall und Delay im Programm, und es spickt seinen Sound mit wavigen Bassläufen, die nur eine Richtung kennen: nach vorne. Ganz egal, bei welchem Wetter und ob in Hallen, Clubs oder bei Open Airs: A Place to Bury Strangers klanggewittern in den Ohren.

Talking to Oliver Ackermann of Death By Audio was probably one of the most fun talks I had at NAMM. That dude just has a killer reply to everything you could possibly throw at him. After letting us know which DBA pedal people don't deserve, we quickly go through the features of their new Deep Animation Envelope Filter pedal. A really awesome and unique filter pedal with a dedicated foot-switch to toggle between UP and DOWN filter slope, external trigger input for contact mics/drum machines/samplers or whatever you want to throw at it, letting you trigger the filter to a dedicated beat. Such a cool pedal!
