The good people of Norway have raised more than $33,000 to re-erect a phallic geological structure thought to have been destroyed by vandals.
The Trollpikken – which translates as something a bit ruder than "Troll's Penis" – had become a local landmark in Norway's Rogaland county and there were plans to turn the giant structure into a tourist attraction.
That was until a group of hikers found the Trollpikken lying in pieces last weekend with early indications suggesting the structure had been destroyed by drill-wielding vandals.
As police launched an investigation into the incident, locals launched a crowdfunding campaign to help fund repair works to the Trollpikken.
Several local construction companies have since agreed to help re-erect the structure, which will be reinforced with steel and hoisted back into place.
"We do not accept vandalism, we will raise our rock again," read a message on the crowdfunding page. "The re-erection WILL happen."
So far the campaign has raised $33,000, which, as well as funding repair work, will also go towards improving accessibility to the Trollpikken.
"We will also try to make a better trail, better signs and better parking conditions with the funds once the main goal is accomplished," campaigners added.
