Doris Day (born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff; April 3, 1922 or 1924) is an American actress, singer, and animal rights activist.
Day began her career as a big band singer in 1939, and is well known for her string of romantic comedies with leading man Rock Hudson including 'Pillow Talk' and 'Lover Come Back' in the early 1960s. Her popularity began to rise after her first hit recording "Sentimental Journey", in 1945. After leaving Les Brown & His Band of Renown to embark on a solo career, Day started her long-lasting partnership with Columbia Records, which remained her only recording label. The contract lasted from 1947 to 1967 and included more than 650 recordings, making Day one of the most popular and acclaimed singers of the 20th century. In 1948, after being persuaded by songwriters Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne and by Al Levy, her agent at the time, she auditioned for film director Michael Curtiz, which led to her being cast as the female lead in Romance on the High Seas.
Over the course of her career, Day appeared in 39 films. She was ranked the biggest box-office star, the only woman appearing on that list in the era, for four years (1960, 1962, 1963 and 1964), ranking in the top 10 for ten years (1951–52, and 1959–66). She became the top-ranking female box-office star of all time and is currently ranked sixth among the top 10 box office performers (male and female), as of 2012. Day received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in Pillow Talk, won three Henrietta Awards (World Film Favorite), and received the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's Career Achievement Award. In 1989, she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. She made her last film in 1968.
Julie is an American sitcom starring Julie Andrews which aired on ABC during the summer of 1992. Blake Edwards was the director and executive producer of the series.
Andrews starred as Julie Carlisle, a television personality who marries a veterinarian Sam (James Farentino). Julie, along with her new husband and stepchildren, relocates to Sioux City, Iowa. The series chronicled her new life in coping with a career and family, was largely panned by critics and was subsequently canceled after six episodes due to low ratings.
The series was broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 during Christmas 1993, but has yet to be repeated either in the UK or the US.

The French version is so beautifully shot and so deliciously morbid, that it leaves the audience completely gobsmacked - in a good way. For example, the creepy kid Victor - in the French version the little kid is so adorably creepy that one wouldn't know whether to give him a tight hug and then adopt him or stay the hell away from him! In the US version, the kid is just adorable. Not that there's anything wrong with kids being adorable. We've got a world exclusive! It's not often we get to say that. If ever. Here's Merida's song from the Disney/Pixar animation Brave, sung and played live by the very people who perform it on the soundtrack - the incredible Julie Fowlis with Eamon Doorley and Duncan Chisholm. And they let us film them while they did it. Amazing. In case you were wondering, Eamon's playing a gouzouki. He swears it's a real instrument but we're not convinced. Doris Day Song: It's Magic Movie: Romance on the High Seas Year: 1949 Lyrics: You sigh, the song begins, you speak and I hear violins It's magic The stars desert the skies and rush to nestle in your eyes It's magic Without a golden wand or mystic charms Fantastic things begin when I am in your arms When we walk hand-in-hand, the world becomes a wonderland It's magic How else can I explain those rainbows when there isn't rain? It's magic Why do I tell me myself these things that happen are all really true When in my heart I know the magic is my love for you?
From the movie "Love Me or Leave Me". Doris Day singing, "Mean to Me".
Actress Doris Day was moved to tears by fans who serenaded her on her 92nd birthday in California. The sexy, girl-next-door celebrity leaned over a balcony at her Carmel home and told fans who sang "Happy Birthday" to her, "This is something that is really so touching. And I want you all to know that each one of you means so much to me, you really do." "We'll do anything for you," a fan shouted.

I was lucky enough to attend Doris Day's birthday party at the Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley. The event was a fund raiser for her charity, the Doris Day Animal Foundation. http://www.dorisdayanimalfoundation.org/ Doris was not expected to attend, at least not by me, but she decided to come and her fans were absolutely thrilled! I wanted to share this very brief video for the other fans, like me, to see. She walked in the room and the crowd went wild. A crowd gathered around her and moved with her as she made her way to her seat. She had a man standing hear her to act as some protection through the evening's entertainment, but when people walked up to her she was incredibly friendly and welcoming. At the end of the event she stayed while everyone went up to her one by one to thank he...

Mary: I gotta change shoes. Mary: Okay, there we go. Now, that’s so much better. Stuart: Ladies and gentlemen, obviously, let’s begin at the beginning. Normally, the protocol is that we give people a round of applause at the end of the event. In this particular case, we’re going to break with all the protocols, because I know a lot of people that are in the audience, I’ve seen faces, I’ve seen people with reputations in the audience, and I think that all of us can say, unanimously that, Mary probably doesn’t really deeply understand how much impact her singing and her reputation has had in our lives, the way it’s shaped the love that we’ve got for the music. So, ladies and gentlemen, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, come on. [applause] Stuart: So, where to start? Let’s start with a quick q...

Sunday February 22nd 7:30pm, Monday February 23rd 1:00pm, Wednesday February 25th 6:30pm In 1956 Alfred Hitchcock remade his own British suspense film The Man Who Knew Too Much. By the director’s own admission the remake surpassed the original in success and superiority. He stated in an interview, “Let’s say the first version is the work of a talented amateur and the second was made by a professional.” Set in Morocco the American version features James Stewart and Doris Day as a holidaying couple who unwittingly unearth an assassination plot. With classic Hitchcockian suspense the film plays out as the conspirators attempt to stop the couple from disrupting their plans. Utilising Doris Day’s singing talents and doused in Moroccan rear projection the thriller is the perfect mix of comic re...
The Man Who Knew Too Much is a 1934 British thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, featuring Peter Lorre, and released by Gaumont British. It was one of the most successful and critically acclaimed films of Hitchcock's British period. Hitchcock remade the film with James Stewart and Doris Day in 1956 for Paramount Pictures. The two films, however, are very different in tone, in setting, and in many plot details. In the book-length interview Hitchcock/Truffaut (1967), in response to fellow filmmaker François Truffaut's assertion that aspects of the remake were by far superior, Hitchcock replied, "Let's say the first version is the work of a talented amateur and the second was made by a professional."[1][2] The film has nothing except the title in common with G. K. Chesterton's 1922 b...

Julie, what's your problem?
Won't you tell me what's going on?
'Cause there's a dark cloud hanging over you
You've been down, down, down for too long
You used to sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
Sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I do
There's a band outside
And they're playing now for you, for you
Julie, come to your window
Don't let your problems spoil the view
It's not a good day to cry today
So come on change, change, change
Come through the door
You used to sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
Sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I do
There's a band outside
And they're playing now for you
You used to sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
Sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I do
There's a band outside
And they're playing now for you, for you
Why, why, why do you cry, cry, cry?
You should know by now that the sun comes out for you
Why, why, why do you cry, cry, cry?
You should know by now that the sun comes out for you
that the sun comes out for you
You used to sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
Sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I do
There's a band outside
And they're playing now for you, for you
You used to sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
Sing sha, la, la, la, la, la, I do
There's a band outside
And they're playing now for you, for you
Sha, la, la, la, la, la, I want you
