The Cardigans are a Swedish rock band formed in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1992, by guitarist Peter Svensson, bassist Magnus Sveningsson, drummer Bengt Lagerberg, keyboardist Lars-Olof Johansson and lead singer Nina Persson, with the line-up remaining unchanged to this day.
Their debut album Emmerdale (1994) gave them a solid base in their home country and enjoyed some success abroad, especially in Japan. It was not until their second album Life (1995) that an international reputation was secured. Their popularity rose when their single "Lovefool", from the album First Band on the Moon (1996), was included in the soundtrack to the 1996 film version of Romeo + Juliet. Other singles included "Erase/Rewind" and "My Favourite Game" from the album Gran Turismo (1998). After a two-year hiatus the band returned recording and releasing their fourth album Long Gone Before Daylight (2003) a mellower country-laden record. Their last album Super Extra Gravity (2005), a continuation of the country music infused by pop sensibility and further maturing in the band's sound, was the best-selling Swedish album of that year. After a 2006 tour, the band embarked on a long five-year break from musical activities, before reuniting in 2012 to play several concerts. Overall the band sold over 15 million albums worldwide.
Universal Music Group, Inc. (legally known as UMG Recordings, Inc., abbreviated as UMG) is an American-French worldwide music corporation that operates as a subsidiary of Paris-based French media conglomerate Vivendi. It claims to be the largest music corporation in the world. UMG also owns Universal Music Publishing Group, which is cited as the second largest music publishing company in the world. Universal Music Group's global corporate headquarters are in Santa Monica, California, United States.
Universal Music was once the music company attached to film studio Universal Pictures. Its origins go back to the formation of the American branch of Decca Records in 1934. The Decca Record Co. Ltd. of England spun American Decca off in 1939.MCA Inc. merged with American Decca in 1962. The present organization was formed when its parent company Seagram purchased PolyGram in May 1998 and merged it with Universal Music Group in early 1999. However, the name had first appeared in 1996 when MCA Music Entertainment Group was renamed Universal Music Group. The PolyGram acquisition included Deutsche Grammophon which traces its ancestry to Berliner Gramophone making Deutsche Grammophon UMG's oldest unit. UMG's Canadian unit traces its ancestry to a Berliner Gramophone breakaway firm the Compo Company.
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.
"My Favourite Game" is an alternative rock song written by Peter Svensson and Nina Persson for The Cardigans' 1998 album Gran Turismo. The song is the album's eighth track, and was released as its first single.
"My Favourite Game" was written by guitarist Peter Svensson and lead singer Nina Persson during the recording sessions of the band's fourth studio album Gran Turismo between May and July 1998. The song, like the other songs from the album, was recorded in Tore Johansson's newly developed Country Hell recording studio in Skurup, Sweden. Persson started with the chorus, which "married the music so quickly that you couldn't tear them apart". Afterwards she wrote verses to "give the chorus meaning", which enabled her to "cram in a lot of lyrics into the verses" in contrast to other Cardigans songs with less lyrics such as "Erase/Rewind".
Before recording on the song commenced, Svennson presented the song to producer Tore Johansson by playing the track on acoustic guitar. Although the song was originally taking shape as a slow country/rock shuffle, similar in style to Neil Young's "Old Man", the tempo was doubled upon request of Tore Johansson. Svennson declared that this helped as the band knew the song "was a single, but it wasn't working at first" under "the shuffle beat at half the tempo". It was soon after changing the musical direction of the song when the song's distinctive guitar hook evolved.

"For What It's Worth" was the first single from The Cardigans's fifth studio album Long Gone Before Daylight. It was released on 17 February 2003. Nicky Wire, bassist of the Manic Street Preachers, thinks it has the best lyrics ever. The album differs from the band's earlier works. Their familiar "happy" pop sound takes on a change to pop songs with more of an American country music influence. It is a much darker album than their previous works, and quieter than Gran Turismo. Indeed, even lead singer Nina Persson dyed her once light blonde hair to jet black, reflecting the band's change of mood. Criticism was generally mixed to positive. Some found the change of direction welcome, and felt the band had matured, making songs that were even better than other experienced country-pop styled...

Music video for Austin, TX based band Cautiontape's song “Get To Me” made up entirely of gameplay footage from From Software’s 2015 PS4 game of the year contender, Bloodborne. Video consists of two female protagonists (one of which is a likeness to Cautiontape singer Britani Woods) trying to reconnect but nearly missing each other throughout the city of Yharnam and the ethereal Hunter’s Dream paradise. In doing so, they face a few bloody challenges. All footage captured is in-game with manual camera manipulation to create scenes. Several deaths occurred in the making of this video. Cautiontape: Cautiontape is Austin’s newest purveyor of indie pop, rock, electronica and New Wave. Britani Woods' seductive yet pleading odes to lost and potentially lost love soar over Jason Garcia’s layer...
This wee film, created by Victoria & Richard MacKenzie-Childs. The story is about a young writer looking in her dressing table mirror (actually filmed in Victoria's dressing room on Yankee Ferry, where Victoria & Richard live and work) speaks to herself about how much she enjoys wearing a cardigan, but that it makes her too hot . Then she must turn on the fan that makes so much racket, she cannot concentrate on her writing. Just as she sheds her cardigan and turns off the fan for a peaceful writing session, she hears a rap at the door. A motivated sales man, named Mr. Felix dashes in, and having overheard the word "cardigan" seizes the opportunity to make a sale to Miss Wittika. At first, when he asks her if she would like a whole "Cardigan Collection" she is overwhelmed with thinkin...

Here is a clip of the Cardigans performing in studio. The entire interview is in Swedish. Translation: Of all the new records out this Fall, perhaps the most exciting is the Cardigans. They've managed to have a different style with each record. It's their 7th album and we've had the opportunity to talk to them about it. Peter says "I have such a bad memory. (shows Emmerdale)" That album you can tell was done by people who didn't have a clue what was going on, very naive. We had no idea that Life was going to be so big, it's kind of like Sgt Pepper album.

Slow, slow, slow
There is something you need to know
There's a feeling I don't understand
Here it comes again
Glow, glow, glow
There was love ten seconds ago
In it's place, now a tiny pain
It comes again
There'll be rain on our wedding day
And the chapel will be mud and clay
There'll be rain on our wedding day
Gray be the sky
I don't know why
Slow, slow, slow
Easy come and easy go
It seems your ring is sliding off my hand
Do you understand?
No, no, no
In every breathe you're dragging me low
In every movement the chill sustains
Here it comes again
There'll be rain on our wedding day
Rotting roses in my bouqet
There'll be rain on our wedding day
Gray be the sky
Too late to cry
Slow, slow, slow
Slow, slow, slow
Slow, slow, slow
Slow, slow, slow
