Calgary International Airport, originally named McCall Field (IATA: YYC, ICAO: CYYC), is the international airport that serves Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the surrounding region; it is situated approximately 17 km (11 mi) northeast of downtown Calgary. The airport offers scheduled non-stop flights to major cities in Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and East Asia.
Calgary International Airport serves as headquarters for WestJet and as a hub airport for Air Canada and Air Canada Express. The airport is one of eight Canadian airports with US Border Preclearance facilities. The airport is operated by The Calgary Airport Authority as part of Transport Canada's National Airports System. It is Canada's third busiest airport by passenger traffic and aircraft movements, handling 15,475,759 passengers in 2015 and 250,953 movements in 2014. In October 2008, The Calgary Airport Authority was named one of Alberta's Top Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. YYC has both the longest runway and the tallest free-standing control tower (and second tallest overall) in Canada. The airport as of today is going under a major expansion project with its new International Facilities Project (IFP) which is scheduled to open in Fall of 2016.
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
The Calgary International Film Festival (CIFF) is a film festival held annually in Calgary, Alberta, Canada for ten days in late September and early October. CIFF celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2009.
As of September 2009, CIFF films were screened at the following venues in Calgary, in the community of Kensington, as well as the City Centre, respectively:
As is typical with Film Festivals, there are a number of different categories of films screened, with the films being grouped into series by genre or country of production, including World Cinema, Shorts, Late Night features (typically of the horror genre) and "Hump Night", held on a Wednesday during the festival and featuring films of a more suggestive nature.
Introduced to the festival in 2009 is the "Mavericks" series, exhibiting the work of ten emerging filmmakers from around the world, culminating in the awarding of a $25,000 prize to the selected filmmaker.

Racism is the belief that characteristics and abilities can be attributed to people simply on the basis of their race and that some racial groups are superior to others. Racist behaviour can be not just overt, such as treating some people according to their race or colour, but also covert, where society systematically treats groups according to some form of discriminating judgement. YYC Colours is a documentary that is created to start discussions about racism in Calgary and Canada in general. The film took over a year and a half to produce. We spoke to hundreds of people and over 100 interviews were recorded through a community call to action that contributed to the content of the film. The goal is to have people view the film and start having honest conversations about racism and privil...
