Hi Everyone! Today I'm bringing you another Irish travel vlog and this time I'm exploring my home county, Wicklow! I love getting out and about in Wicklow and going on little adventures, there's always something to do and something new to see! In this vlog I've taken you to some of my favourite places and I've ventured out to some new places for me too.
I began by taking a trip out to The Happy Pear cafe in Greystones to have a bite to eat. While I was there I actually got to meet and film with the cafe owners, The Happy Pear themselves, Dave and Steve Flynn! I spent a couple of hours out in the cafe chatting with the twins and eating delicious food. Overall I had a wonderful day! As I mentioned in the vlog I can say it's probably the happiest, healthiest restaurant you'll come across here in Ireland and well worth the visit. Next myself and my friend Laura headed out to Powerscourt in Enniskerry for some afternoon tea, very fancy! The tea was €39 per person but well worth the money for the experience we had. The food was top quality, the service was impeccable and we just felt so at ease while there. A couple of weeks later I returned to Powerscourt but this time to check out the estate and gardens. The afternoon tea was in the Hotel and Spa Resort and to enter the gardens there is a charge. An adult ticket was €9.50 but again, worth the money. We spent a couple of hours walking around in awe.I can completely understand why they are award winning gardens! Irelands highest waterfall is also on the grounds but unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get to check it out. We'll definitely be back though!
For the remainder of the vlog I'm exploring some of my favourite areas on foot which it what I love to do here. I visited Miners Cross, The Motte Stone and Avoca Handerweavers in Avoca. I took a trip out and completed a hill climb in Glendalough and finally I climbed a popular mountain here in Wicklow, The Great Sugarloaf.

Wicklow
Wicklow (Irish: Cill Mhantáin, meaning "church of the toothless one") is the county town of County Wicklow and the capital of the Mid-East Region in Ireland. Located south of Dublin on the east coast of the island, it has a population of 10,356 according to the 2011 census. The town is to the east of the N11 route between Dublin and Wexford. Wicklow is also linked to the rail network, with Dublin commuter services now extending to the town. Additional services connect with Arklow, Wexford and Rosslare Europort, a main ferry port. There is also a commercial port, mainly importing timber and textiles. The River Vartry is the main river which flows through the town.
Geography
Wicklow town forms a rough semicircle around Wicklow harbour. To the immediate north lies 'The Murrough', a popular grassy walking area beside the sea, and the eastern coastal strip. The Murrough is a place of growing commercial use, so much so that a road by-passing the town directly to the commercial part of the area commenced construction in 2008 and was completed in summer of 2010. The eastern coastal strip includes Wicklow bay, a crescent shaped stone beach approximately 10 km in length.

Wicklow Mountains
The Wicklow Mountains (Irish: Sléibhte Chill Mhantáin,archaic: Cualu) form the largest continuous upland area in Ireland. They occupy the whole centre of County Wicklow and stretch outside its borders into Counties Carlow, Wexford and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown. Where the mountains extend into County Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, they are known locally as the Dublin Mountains (Irish: Sléibhte Bhaile Átha Cliath). The highest peak is Lugnaquilla at 925 metres (3,035 feet).
The mountains are primarily composed of granite surrounded by an envelope of mica-schist and much older rocks such as quartzite. They were pushed up during the Caledonian orogeny at the start of the Devonian period and form part of the Leinster Chain, the largest continuous area of granite in Ireland and Britain. The mountains owe much of their present topography to the effects of the last ice age, which deepened the valleys and created corrie and ribbon lakes. Copper and lead have been the main metals mined in the mountains and a brief gold rush occurred in the 18th century.

Hi Everyone! Today I'm bringing you another Irish travel vlog and this time I'm exploring my home county, Wicklow! I love getting out and about in Wicklow and going on little adventures, there's always something to do and something new to see! In this vlog I've taken you to some of my favourite places and I've ventured out to some new places for me too.
I began by taking a trip out to The Happy Pear cafe in Greystones to have a bite to eat. While I was there I actually got to meet and film with the cafe owners, The Happy Pear themselves, Dave and Steve Flynn! I spent a couple of hours out in the cafe chatting with the twins and eating delicious food. Overall I had a wonderful day! As I mentioned in the vlog I can say it's probably the happiest, healthiest restaurant you'll come across here in Ireland and well worth the visit. Next myself and my friend Laura headed out to Powerscourt in Enniskerry for some afternoon tea, very fancy! The tea was €39 per person but well worth the money for the experience we had. The food was top quality, the service was impeccable and we just felt so at ease while there. A couple of weeks later I returned to Powerscourt but this time to check out the estate and gardens. The afternoon tea was in the Hotel and Spa Resort and to enter the gardens there is a charge. An adult ticket was €9.50 but again, worth the money. We spent a couple of hours walking around in awe.I can completely understand why they are award winning gardens! Irelands highest waterfall is also on the grounds but unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get to check it out. We'll definitely be back though!
For the remainder of the vlog I'm exploring some of my favourite areas on foot which it what I love to do here. I visited Miners Cross, The Motte Stone and Avoca Handerweavers in Avoca. I took a trip out and completed a hill climb in Glendalough and finally I climbed a popular mountain here in Wicklow, The Great Sugarloaf.

Explore the famous 12th century Kilkenny Castle majestically located on the banks of the River Nore. Kilkenny is the craft capital of Ireland, visit the famous Kilkenny Art & Design Centre and appreciate the tradition of arts and crafts in Ireland. In the courtyard you can see these crafts people at work. Goldsmiths, Sculptors, Painters and many more, these crafts men and women are some of the most recognised artists in Ireland.
Stroll around its narrow cobbled streets, why not visit Ireland’s oldest brewery Saint Frances Brewery founded in the 14th century. Rothe House a magnificent example of a wealthy silk merchants house built in 1594. The house contains multiple medieval exhibits with so many priceless Viking artefacts. The medieval gardens are kept to period growing examples of plants and vegetables of the era such as Gortahok cabbage and blood of the Boyne apples. While in Kilkenny City you have the option of combining into your visit a trip to the historical Dunmore Caves. It is a place where myth & history blend. The guides make it a magical experience particularly when on some occasions there is a live tin whistle rendition in the bowels of the cave. After lunch we travel through the county of Carlow into the Wild and Rugged Wicklow Mountains. The landscape will change from lush green rich pasture with gentle valleys to the dramatic, the breath taking ancient glacial valleys of the Wicklow Gap. Feast your eyes on the spectacular countryside and its scenic treasures, mountains, native plants and wildlife (A photographer’s dream).
The Wicklow Gap and its scenery is the most varied on the island of Ireland. The journey through the mountains brings you through the countryside where famous movies such as Brave Heart, and PS I Love You were filmed. Enjoy a 15 minute stop for a stroll and photographic opportunities on top of the Wicklow Mountains overlooking the glens and valleys of County Wicklow.
Continuing over the Mountains we arrive at the world famous heritage site of Glendalough (Glen of two lakes). This Monastic site dates from 600 AD. It was the centre of learning and from where Christianity was re-introduced to northern and central Europe after what is known as the dark ages. Have you heard of “Ireland, land of Saints and Scholars”? Well Glendalough is why. Saint Kevin founded his monastery in this valley and today much of the ancient architecture remain such as St Kevin’s Kitchen, Church and Round Tower. The tower was constructed as shelter for the Monks and their Latin Biblical manuscripts from the barbarous marauding Vikings.
The glen of the two lakes in the Irish language is Glendalough. The lower lake takes under an hour to walk and the upper just over an hour. Departing Glendalough we journey through the highest village in Ireland known as Roundwood, see the Sugarloaf Mountains which prior to the ice age were higher than the Alps, the Powerscourt Estate and the Glen of Imaal just before reaching Kilnacanogue. Sit back and be entertained by our tour guide with some story-telling and traditional Irish music. We arrive back in Dublin city at approximately 6pm. For the third day of our travel adventure in Ireland, we share some Ireland travel tips over breakfast, then head south from Dublin, towards the Wicklow Mountains and Lough Tay (Loch Té in Irish) for a day of exploration, followed by a night on the town in Dublin’s Temple Bar district. Along the way, we discover some ancient castles, one in ruins, the other still standing (complete with a functioning moat).

Have some coffee & porridge in our hotel room at the Clontarf Castle Hotel, Dublin.
Head south on the highway towards the Wicklow Mountains
Visit Lough Tay and the surrounding forests.
Picnic along the River Liffey near the Ballysmuttan Bridge.
Head further south towards the town of Wicklow to visit the ruins of Black Castle.
Head north back towards Dublin, visiting Drimnaugh Castle along the way.
Visit Dublin’s famed Temple for for some bangers and mash & and pint of Guinness.
Return to the Clontarf Castle Hotel for some drinks at the Knight’s Pub before heading of to bed upstairs.
Stay tuned for part four, where we head into Dublin one final time for an early morning visit to Saint Patrick's Cathedral, followed by a hearty breakfast at the Dublin Airport, before heading back home to the states.

Hi Everyone! Today I'm bringing you another Irish travel vlog and this time I'm exploring my home county, Wicklow! I love getting out and about in Wicklow and going on little adventures, there's always something to do and something new to see! In this vlog I've taken you to some of my favourite places and I've ventured out to some new places for me too.
I began by taking a trip out to The Happy Pear cafe in Greystones to have a bite to eat. While I was there I actually got to meet and film with the cafe owners, The Happy Pear themselves, Dave and Steve Flynn! I spent a couple of hours out in the cafe chatting with the twins and eating delicious food. Overall I had a wonderful day! As I mentioned in the vlog I can say it's probably the happiest, healthiest restaurant you'll come across here in Ireland and well worth the visit. Next myself and my friend Laura headed out to Powerscourt in Enniskerry for some afternoon tea, very fancy! The tea was €39 per person but well worth the money for the experience we had. The food was top quality, the service was impeccable and we just felt so at ease while there. A couple of weeks later I returned to Powerscourt but this time to check out the estate and gardens. The afternoon tea was in the Hotel and Spa Resort and to enter the gardens there is a charge. An adult ticket was €9.50 but again, worth the money. We spent a couple of hours walking around in awe.I can completely understand why they are award winning gardens! Irelands highest waterfall is also on the grounds but unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get to check it out. We'll definitely be back though!
For the remainder of the vlog I'm exploring some of my favourite areas on foot which it what I love to do here. I visited Miners Cross, The Motte Stone and Avoca Handerweavers in Avoca. I took a trip out and completed a hill climb in Glendalough and finally I climbed a popular mountain here in Wicklow, The Great Sugarloaf.

Hi Everyone! Today I'm bringing you another Irish travel vlog and this time I'm exploring my home county, Wicklow! I love getting out and about in Wicklow and going on little adventures, there's always something to do and something new to see! In this vlog I've taken you to some of my favourite places and I've ventured out to some new places for me too.
I began by taking a trip out to The Happy Pear cafe in Greystones to have a bite to eat. While I was there I actually got to meet and film with the cafe owners, The Happy Pear themselves, Dave and Steve Flynn! I spent a couple of hours out in the cafe chatting with the twins and eating delicious food. Overall I had a wonderful day! As I mentioned in the vlog I can say it's probably the happiest, healthiest restaurant you'll come across here in Ireland and well worth the visit. Next myself and my friend Laura headed out to Powerscourt in Enniskerry for some afternoon tea, very fancy! The tea was €39 per person but well worth the money for the experience we had. The food was top quality, the service was impeccable and we just felt so at ease while there. A couple of weeks later I returned to Powerscourt but this time to check out the estate and gardens. The afternoon tea was in the Hotel and Spa Resort and to enter the gardens there is a charge. An adult ticket was €9.50 but again, worth the money. We spent a couple of hours walking around in awe.I can completely understand why they are award winning gardens! Irelands highest waterfall is also on the grounds but unfortunately we ran out of time so didn't get to check it out. We'll definitely be back though!
For the remainder of the vlog I'm exploring some of my favourite areas on foot which it what I love to do here. I visited Miners Cross, The Motte Stone and Avoca Handerweavers in Avoca. I took a trip out and completed a hill climb in Glendalough and finally I climbed a popular mountain here in Wicklow, The Great Sugarloaf.

Ireland is an island in north-western Europe which has been divided politically since 1920. Most of the island is made up of Ireland (Irish: Éire, also known as Poblacht na hÉireann = the Republic of Ireland). The remainder is Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.
Cities Ireland
============
Dublin (Baile Átha Cliath) — the capital and the country's largest city. With excellent pubs, fine architecture and good shopping, Dublin is a very popular tourist destination and is the fourth most visited European capital.
Cork (Corcaigh) — second largest city in the Republic of Ireland - located on the banks of the River Lee. Founded c.600 by St. Finbarre and known for good food, pubs, shopping and festivals.
Galway (Gaillimh) — a city on the river Corrib on the west coast of Ireland. Famous for its festivals and its location on Galway Bay. Known as the City of Tribes, Galway's summer is filled with festivals of music, food, Irish language and culture. Galway hosts over fifty festivals a year, including the Galway Oyster Festival. The locals seem to give off a positive Bohemian vibe. Galway is split between two types of beautiful landscape: the gorgeous mountains to the west, and the east's farming valleys.
Killarney — Possibly (at least until recently) the most popular tourist destination in Ireland. A pleasant town in its own right, it is also the start of most Ring of Kerry trips.
Kilkenny (Cill Chainnigh) — attractive medieval city, known as the Marble City - home to the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, held annually in early June.
Letterkenny — Main town in County Donegal, designated gateway status and reputed to be the fastest growing town in Europe. Good base for traveling in Donegal.
Limerick (Luimneach) — a city on the river Shannon in the south-west of the country.

The locals seem to give off a positive Bohemian vibe. Galway is split between two types of beautiful landscape: the gorgeous mountains to the west, and the east's farming valleys.
Killarney — Possibly (at least until recently) the most popular tourist destination in Ireland. A pleasant town in its own right, it is also the start of most Ring of Kerry trips.
Kilkenny (Cill Chainnigh) — attractive medieval city, known as the Marble City - home to the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, held annually in early June.
Letterkenny — Main town in County Donegal, designated gateway status and reputed to be the fastest growing town in Europe. Good base for traveling in Donegal.
Limerick (Luimneach) — a city on the river Shannon in the south-west of the country.
