West Virginia i/ˌwɛst vərˈdʒɪnjə/ is a state located in the Appalachian region of the Southern United States. It is bordered by Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, Ohio to the northwest, Pennsylvania to the north (and, slightly, east), and Maryland to the northeast. West Virginia is the 41st largest by area and the 38th most populous of the 50 United States. The capital and largest city is Charleston.
West Virginia became a state following the Wheeling Conventions of 1861, in which delegates from some Unionist counties of northwestern Virginia decided to break away from Virginia during the American Civil War, although they included many secessionist counties in the new state. West Virginia was admitted to the Union on June 20, 1863, and was a key Civil War border state. West Virginia was the only state to form by separating from a Confederate state, the first to separate from any state since Maine separated from Massachusetts, and was one of two states formed during the American Civil War (the other being Nevada, which separated from Utah Territory).
Virginia (i/vərˈdʒɪnjə/ vər-JIN-yə, UK /vərˈdʒɪniə/ vər-JIN-ee-ə), officially the Commonwealth of Virginia, is a state located in the South Atlantic region of the United States. Virginia is nicknamed the "Old Dominion" due to its status as the first colonial possession established in mainland British America, and "Mother of Presidents" because eight U.S. presidents were born there, more than any other state. The geography and climate of the Commonwealth are shaped by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Chesapeake Bay, which provide habitat for much of its flora and fauna. The capital of the Commonwealth is Richmond; Virginia Beach is the most populous city, and Fairfax County is the most populous political subdivision. The Commonwealth's estimated population as of 2014 is over 8.3 million.
The area's history begins with several indigenous groups, including the Powhatan. In 1607 the London Company established the Colony of Virginia as the first permanent New World English colony. Slave labor and the land acquired from displaced Native American tribes each played a significant role in the colony's early politics and plantation economy. Virginia was one of the 13 Colonies in the American Revolution and joined the Confederacy in the American Civil War, during which Richmond was made the Confederate capital and Virginia's northwestern counties seceded to form the state of West Virginia. Although the Commonwealth was under one-party rule for nearly a century following Reconstruction, both major national parties are competitive in modern Virginia.
The American frontier comprises the geography, history, folklore, and cultural expression of life in the forward wave of American westward expansion that began with English colonial settlements in the early 17th century and ended with the admission of the last mainland territories as states in 1912. In North American development, "frontier" refers to a contrasting region at the edge of a European-American line of settlement, or settled area. American folklore is focused primarily on the 19th century, especially west of the Mississippi River. Enormous popular attention in the media focuses on the Western United States in the second half of the 19th century, a period sometimes called the Old West, or the Wild West, frequently exaggerating the romance and violence of the period.
As defined by Hine and Faragher, "frontier history tells the story of the creation and defense of communities, the use of the land, the development of markets, and the formation of states." They explain, "It is a tale of conquest, but also one of survival, persistence, and the merging of peoples and cultures that gave birth and continuing life to America." Through treaties with foreign nations and native tribes; political compromise; military conquest; establishment of law and order; the building of farms, ranches, and towns; the marking of trails and digging of mines; and the pulling in of great migrations of foreigners, the United States expanded from coast to coast, fulfilling the dreams of Manifest Destiny. Historian Frederick Jackson Turner in his "Frontier Thesis" (1893) theorized that the frontier was a process that transformed Europeans into a new people, the Americans, whose values focused on equality, democracy, and optimism, as well as individualism, self-reliance, and even violence. Thus, Turner's Frontier Thesis proclaimed the westward frontier as the defining process of American history.
Miss America is a scholarship pageant that is held annually and is open to women from the United States between the ages of 17 and 24. Originating in 1921, the contest is now judged on competitors' talent performances and interviews in addition to their physical appearance. It is run by the Miss America Organization, a not-for-profit corporation based in Linwood, New Jersey, which has developed the "Miss America Scholarship Program", which awards educational scholarships to successful competitors. The stated purpose of the contest is that it "provides young women with a vehicle to further their personal and professional goals and instills a spirit of community service through a variety of unique nationwide community-based programs". Miss America travels about 20,000 miles a month, changing her location every 24 to 48 hours, touring the nation and promoting her particular platform of interest.
The current title-holder, Miss America 2016, is Miss Georgia 2015, Betty Cantrell who was crowned on September 13, 2015, by her predecessor Kira Kazantsev (Miss America 2015).
The subscription business model is a business model where a customer must pay a subscription price to have access to the product/service. The model was pioneered by magazines and newspapers, but is now used by many businesses and websites.
Rather than selling products individually, a subscription sells periodic (monthly or yearly or seasonal) use or access to a product or service, or, in the case of such non-profit organizations as opera companies or symphony orchestras, it sells tickets to the entire run of five to fifteen scheduled performances for an entire season. Thus, a one-time sale of a product can become a recurring sale and can build brand loyalty. It is used for anything where a user is tracked in both a subscribed and unsubscribed status.
Membership fees to some types of organizations, such as trade unions, are also known as subscriptions.
Industries that use this model include mail order book sales clubs and music sales clubs, cable television, satellite television providers with pay-TV channels, satellite radio, telephone companies, cell phone companies, internet providers, software providers, websites (e.g., blogging websites), business solutions providers, financial services firms, fitness clubs, lawn mowing and snowplowing services and pharmaceuticals, as well as the traditional newspapers, magazines and academic journals.

On it's surface, this film shows with great detail the proper technique of using a rotary dial, but there's also a lot more information about the toll network of the 1940's presented. The Boston toll switchboard's direct trunks to New York City and it's tandem trunks are shown being used. Also visible (but not used) are trunks to the nearby communities of Malden and Melrose, Massachusetts. This snapshot in time also features various routing codes of the day for calls to New York (2L+), Chicago (312+2L+), Atlanta (404+3L+), Canton (216+064+), and even a ring down to Charleston, West Virginia (412+304).
As requested. Truly an underrated album, "State Songs" is.

West Virginia, because of its geography, is home to all kinds of beautiful unusual rock formations. If you look, you might spot a formation that looks like a giant stone mushroom with a narrow column of rock supporting a flat slab of rock on top of it. Some people think they look like giant tables. I suppose that's why they are commonly called tea tables. To be more exact, West Virginia folk call them "The Devil's Tea Tables". People call these formations Devil's Tea tables because that's what they are actually believed to be. There are people who will swear that the devil himself visits them. It is said that when the devil is around a heavy mist will shroud the tea tables and hide him. The stories associated with these rock formations are yet another example of the wonderful weirdness of...
Life in Green Bank, West Virginia, is far from ordinary. The small town sits inside a "national radio quiet zone" that houses one of the largest radio telescopes in the world. To ensure that astronomers work without interference, residents cannot use any product that transmits wireless signals within a ten-mile radius of the telescope. In other words: no microwave ovens, no cell phones, and no Wi-Fi. "Just about anything that uses electricity could potentially cause interference to our telescopes," says Jonah Bauserman, a technician for the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. This documentary was produced for American Futures, an ongoing reporting project from James Fallows, Deborah Fallows, and John Tierney. Previously, the series profiled Pittsburgh's bike scene and an arts community...

This is another Simply Safe Group, LLC video dealing with the Yerkes-Dotson Law and it's implications for shooters in training and for those who train others in the defensive use of a firearm. How does stress help and how does stress create a problem for the shooter? Are there ways to change the equation so that stress works for us rather than against us? When is it time for a trainer to dial UP the stress and when is it appropriate to dial it DOWN? How can that be done?

Also more Luna Dial action because I just cannot get over how frustrating this boss is once I get to it! Every time!!! XD. (Yeah, barely). I immediately downloaded all the stuff that people usually get when they first set up their computers along with Touhou games 6-8, and decided to run through them really quick to get a little feel for playing these games on this new thing. West Virginia Travel west virginia tourism | Visit snowshoe Show A snowshoe is footwear for walking over the snow. Snowshoes work by distributing the weight of the person over a larger area so that the person's foot does not sink completely into the snow, a quality called "flotation". This article is concerned primarily with snowshoes believed to have been developed in Central Asia and then North America. A possible separate line of development is the of Japan, worn since the Jōmon period.[1]Traditional snowshoes have a hardwood frame with rawhide lacings. Some modern snowshoes are similar, but most are made of materials such as lightweight metal, plastic, and synthetic fabric. In addition to distributing the weight, snowshoes are generally raised at the toe for maneuverability. They must...

This is a tour of West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville with Haunted Barrie Meetup Group. Our tour guide is the awesome Ryan Zacherl from Paranormal Quest. The Penitentiary is a retired, gothic style prison. It operated from 1876 to 1995. Currently, the site is maintained as a tourist attraction and training facility. Paranormal experts say the prison experiences residual hauntings, which they describe as tragic events from the past that are repetitively replayed forever. This is one of the most haunted places in the USA.
Oh, West Virginia
I come crawling out
All the wolves will howl
Oh and you tamed horses
With their muffled mouths
All the wolves will howl
Oh, my love grows
In the woon
Oh, when I say
(Don't go)
That's when you leave
(I know) x3
No...
Haul to California
We go hand in mouth
All the fools will scowl
Oh, you fevered farces
With red tongues about
All the fools will scowl
Oh, I'm alone
In the room
Oh, when I say
(Don't go)
That's when you leave
(I know) x3
