Cl3an Of Xy3mo3x The Jo3hn P3eel Se3ssio3ns

Cl3an Of Xy3mo3x  The Jo3hn P3eel Se3ssio3ns
the band were thrilled to be invited to the UK to record for Peel as gettin a song played on radio 1 was the epitome of success. Peel was a mythical figure in those days and a great discoverer of new bands however recording for John Peel for the Clan Of Xymox was a strain as when they arrived to record for Peel, they were informed 1-they had 4 hours to record it and their plugs on their equipment had to be changed so they were compatible with uk power and this could only be done by a BBC technician
this took a hour off their recording time, they now had only 3 hours to get it right and get it right  they did.everything was mixed later that evening by 2 BBC engineers and they never got to meet the great man himself
This is a great recording and Stranger is my fav song on this. if you could wear a CD out by playin it , well ya couldnt play track 1 hahah i play it on repeat for hours hahahah
however the tracks on this mini album were recorded on 2 different dates not one

tracks 1-3 were produced by Mark Radcliffe and engioneered by Mike Robinson on the 4th of August

tracks 4-6 recorded on the 3rd November 1985 , produced by Dale Griffin and engineered by Mike Shilling

Ni3co Ca3m3e3ra O3b3sc3u3ra

Ni3co Ca3m3e3ra O3b3sc3u3ra
her racist bullshit aside Nico stands  up there as 1 influential artist. well for me anyhow
Camera Obscura is the sixth solo album and seventh studio album by German singer Nico, featuring the backing band the Faction. It was recorded in March–April 1985 and released later that year by Beggars Banquet Records.
It was produced by John Cale, marking their first studio collaboration since The End... in 1974.
It was Nico's final studio album before her death three years later.
Camera Obscura' is a marvel, with Cale's production, her vocals and harmonium,
James Young's keyboards and electronic percussionist Graham Dids, and English jazz-fusion legend Ian Carr on trumpet on two tracks, it's as minimal and claustrophobic as anything else she'd done with Cale.
It begins with the title track, an instrumental born in the studio that seems improvised, but its dankness and uncertainty set the mood of the album rather nicely.
Her version "My Funny Valentine" is the first amazing thing on the album, haunting, unsettlingly beautiful,
Carr's trumpet soloing works nicely against her voice. Even though her vocals work well within the context of the electronics, which now sound bit dated , an unavoidable situation that also afflicted Cale's album, but it's no less charming for it.
With "Fearfully in Danger" and "My Heart is Empty" you can kind of see where Nico's life was at,
and with "Fearfully..." you're almost convinced she's not going to show up, after a full three and a half minutes pass before her vocals come in.
1 song in particular  Fearfully in Danger is so Gary numanish
outstanding album from outstanding artist. still influential and always will be

Organisation is the second album by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark  released in 1980.
I admit buying this as a teeny bopper for Enola Gay and was shocked at the dark mood that permeates this recording hahahahahah and it has stayed a firm fav ever since.
only 1 single was released from this watershed album *Enola Gay* altho sounding a happy song it is about the plane that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan in WW2.

Sombre and menancing album

A Broken Frame is the second studio album by the English electronic band Depeche Mode, released on 27 September 1982 by Mute Records.
The album was written entirely by Martin Gore and recorded after the departure of Vince Clarke, who had left the band to form Yazoo with singer Alison Moyet.
Alan Wilder was part of a second tour in the United Kingdom occurring prior to the release of this album, but he had not officially joined the band yet, and thus, does not appear on the album.

Dave Gahan sings lead vocals on all songs except "Shouldn't Have Done That" which is a duet with Gore. "Nothing to Fear" and "Further Excerpts From: My Secret Garden" are instrumental.

A Broken Frame is very unique atmosphere, dark, brooding, and meloncholy album. It made an extreme break from Speak & Spell, which altho a classic album lacked depth. this compensates big time.. referred to as their dark phase, i disagree- i think having Gore as main songwriter works as he finally has a free rein to deliver DM best album based on real experiences.. and they have

Ru3pe3rt H3in3e Im3mu3n3ity

Immunity is a solo album by Rupert Hine.
Originally released in 1981, re-released and digitally remastered in 2001. The album was dedicated to Liam Byrne.
The song "Misplaced Love" features a brief chorus by British singer Marianne Faithfull.
This album is 1 of those albums that is made to be listened to in its entirety , track after track til it is finished,
Hine spins tales and visions that are surreal, full of tension, and enjoyably wierd.
Hine's lyricist is Jeannette Obstoj and as a result the lyrics are disturbing and bleak.
Drumming is by Phil Collins and Marianne Faithfull makes an appearance on Misplaced Love
I have never got tired of this album. this edition has 2 extra tracks on it.

To3m W3ai3ts - Be3aut3iful M3al3adie3s- T3he Isl3an3d Ye3a3rs
23 tracks taken from the seven albums Tom released on Island from 1983 to 1993
Tom Waits pulled off a neat trick with the 1983 release of Swordfishtrombones: he disengaged himself from the present (and his own recent achievements) and allied himself with the past. And yet no one could accuse him of becoming mired in nostalgia.

A decade before the phrase lo-fi gained favor, Waits purposely ravaged his songs by moulding them into peculiar shapes and utilizing arcane instruments and recording techniques to further mould them into new kinds of aural sculptures.
The result was a genuine musical breakthrough. Beautiful Maladies gathers 23 tracks from Waits's seven post-Swordfishtrombones Island LPs.
These pretty/ugly tracks provide a riveting view of Tom's wild years.
While at least four Waits Island titles qualify as essentials, Beautiful Maladies and the 1988 live set, Big Time, provide compact introductions to a matchless body of work. -

His troubled ballads and the early southern blues elements
His earlier work was trying too hard to be some kind of 40s/50s throwback.
This 80s era was my favorite with minimal accompaniment, some wacky lyrics and all kinds of great vocal on the growl scale.

Fine collection of some of his best work and a great introduction to those unfamiliar with this superb craftsman @ the top of his game

F3r3ida D3ju3pa A3n3de3rta3g

F3r3ida D3ju3pa A3n3de3rta3g (FRIDA DEEP BREATHS)

Her 5th and final album to date released in 1996
After a brief hiatus and a few years in the early 1990s, as chairperson for the Swedish organisation, "Det Naturliga Steget-Artister För Miljön" (The Natural Step-Artists For The Environment), Frida decided to record a mature album with lyrics dealing with both "inner personal environment" as well as the environment and the nature's surroundings.

Frida's composition, "Kvinnor Som Springer" ("Women Who Run"), was inspired by the book "Women who Run with the Wolves", by Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
It is one of the few songs she's written in her entire career, including 'Don't Do It', from Shine.
At the time of recording, Frida did not want the attention an international release would bring
Frida originally asked Agnetha Fältskog to record "Alla mina bästa år" with her, but Agnetha declined citing fear of ABBA reunion rumours.

The recording session began on 18 March 1996 and was completed on 9 August 1996.

The album was recorded in Swedish. A one-hour documentary of the making, video clips and recording of this album, broadcast by Sveriges Television, titled 'Frida – mitt i livet', can be seen on the DVD set, Frida – The DVD, including interviews with Frida and producer Anders Glenmark

This is her best solo album.  Every song is sung in Swedish and i dont have a clue re wtf she is signing about but her voice sounds amazing,Her voice sounds mature and seems to me a personal album.

2005 remaster contains 3 bonus mixes

Ya3zo3o Yo3u An3d M3e B3ot3h

Ya3zo3o Yo3u An3d M3e B3ot3h

You and Me Both is the second and final studio album by British synthpop duo Yazoo, released on Mute Records in July 1983.

The album's title was an ironic reference to the fact that the duo weren't getting along  as Vince had never intended for Yazoo to last longer than 1 album ,therefore  they announced their split a few weeks before the album's release and that was that for a few decades

You and Me Both is a record of loss, yearning, warmth, anger and defiance, and it stands as one of 1983's major achievements stated the  NME.
Not bad considering the album was recorded under a cloud , the duo had grown estranged from each other and recorded much of the album separately and 2 weeks before album release had announced the split of the band

Album hit number 1 in NZ on album charts. while single Nobodys Diary hit the top 20.
Vinyl rip- i feel all CDS are missing the warmth this album permates and sounds quite sterile

Even though I followed both artists and still do - I dont think either have recorded anything as brilliant as this. o apart from their double live album when they reconvened a few years ago and did a select few dates........

Floating into the Night is the debut studio album by the American dream pop musician Julee Cruise.
It was released on September 12, 1989 on Warner Bros. Records

Cruise's vocals on Floating into the Night feature heavy use of digital reverb.
Cruise regarded herself as "a Broadway belter" and had a reputation in her earlier career for letting "angry and aggressive emotions power her work".
However, Lynch "felt that Cruise had a 'soft, sad side'" and encouraged her to sing in a softer tone and in a higher register;

Cruise's vocal style on the album has been often regarded as "ethereal" and drawn comparisons to Elizabeth Fraser on the earlier releases by the Cocteau Twins

Featuring music composed by Angelo Badalamenti and lyrics written by David Lynch, an instrumental version of "Falling" was used as the theme song for the ABC television series Twin Peaks.

2 singles were released 1st single Falling" is a song by the American dream pop singer Julee Cruise.&. Rockin' Back Inside My Heart.

Got into top 20 album charts here. due to a instruemental version of Falling which was used as Theme song in >>>> . TWIN PEAKS

Seasons change and so does my music tastes.

T3he S3ke3pt3ics Am3alga3m

T3he S3ke3pt3ics Am3alga3m
The Skeptics were a New Zealand post-punk band active from 1979 to 1990.Their music combines 'traditional instrumentation with electronic and machine-based rhythm and sound.'
The Skeptics were pioneers in recording with electronics in New Zealand and as such commanded a devoted following through their experimental and innovative musical form.
The Skeptics were formed in Palmerston North out of a group of 6th form high school students.

Band Members:
David D'Ath (vocals, samples)

Nick Roughan (bass, samples)
Don White (drums, percussion, samples)

John Halvorsen (guitar)
Robin Gauld (guitar)

The Skeptics' first recording appeared in 1982 on The Furtive Four Three Piece Pack a 12" compilation EP which also featured The Bongos, The Dabs and The Prime Movers.
They toured New Zealand on the Furtive Records "Three Piece Pack" tour. The tour was to be followed by a five track EP, Pyronnists Selections which was to be released on Propeller Records, Furtive's parent label, but the master tape was stolen from the Propeller office and the EP was never released.

In 1983, Skeptics released the EP Chowder Over Wisconsin on Flying Nun Records. From 1983-1984 they ran their own club, thanks to support from the City Council arts centre, in a former electrical warehouse in Palmerston North.
They named the club Snailclamps after a chalk inscription they found in the warehouse, "C164 Snail Clamps". Initially the venue ran as an underage hangout but became a fully licensed venue not long after, until the band decided to pack up and relocate to Wellington.
The band toured all over NZ for next couple of years also workin on EPs and albums.

While working on this album Amalgam in 1989, David D'Ath learned that he had leukaemia.
D'Ath never got to see the finished product which, due to many unforeseen problems and delays, could not be finished in time as a farewell to this legendary performer.
He died on Tuesday, 4 September 1990.
The band ceased immediately after.

The album was finally released in November 1990.
\Great band. First time I seen them live was in 1983 @ Cafe De Paris in Palmey . Pretty awesome gig it was 2  :P

In 2016 Nick Roughan and Brent McLachlan are recording engineers, running their own studios: McLachlan in New York and Roughan in New Zealand. Don White is based in Melbourne, and John Halvorsen is based in Wellington and still active musically

Tra3sc3h Fl3ou3rish & De3c3ay

Tra3sc3h Fl3ou3rish & De3c3ay

Hope you're enjoying the NZ music buffet !!!!!

Trasch formed in Wellington during the tail-end of the eighties, becoming arguably the first New Zealand band to create muscular industrial/EBM in the vein of Front 242 and Front Line Assembly

Wellington trio Trasch were local electronic music pioneers, built around the synth and programming skills of two moonlighting Radio NZ audio engineers, Evan Roberts and Mike Young.
Vocals were provided by Arthur Tauhore, formerly of Wellington band Bump'n Ugly and also known to Roberts and Young, as the man who cut their hair.(and he also cut mine bahahaha and had been a dear friend since 1981 )

Flourish and Decay included covers 'Who Killed Mr. Moon Light' (Bauhaus) and 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' (The Temptations).
When Trasch played Wellington's Paisley Park, they called the venue to say they'd be an hour late as they'd been in an accident. "They announced it over the PA and everybody said, 'oh no'," said Young. "We'd been with a friend of ours who does latex makeup for films and we turned up with open cuts and gashes all over our faces and Arthur's bald head had a bit of brain poking out." and thats how they turned up to the gig hahahahaha.
I saw them live in 1993 @ Wgtns Carpark venue before the yuppies took over and turned it into a fukin winebar.

OUTSTANDING GIG

Sadly Trasch dissolved after the premature death of Arthur Tauhore in November 1994.
I havent played this since oh 1994. and prob wont play again. It is now digitized and on my ipod :)
Long deleted , Not avail on CD either. just vinyl.

TA3LL D3W3AR3FS - 3 E3PS
Tall Dwarfs are a New Zealand rock band formed in 1981 by Chris Knox and Alec Bathgate who helped pioneer the lo-fi style of rock music. The duo were former members of Toy Love
The band lacked a drummer but would use household objects and handclaps to act as percussion.
This post, The Tall Dwarfs 3eps 1994 3 X 10" vinyl consists off three parts,
1- A Question Of Medical Ethics, 2-Up The Down Staircase and 3- Sam's Spaniel,
Either member takes turns playing 12 string guitar; and bass guitar often heard on their records.
Both can play organ as well, which has been utilized on some of their songs.
The Casiotone is used frequently too, especially in live concerts.

Their debut was the EP Three Songs (1981), and for many years they released EPs only.
The album Weeville (1990) was their first full-length album. They did, however, release a number of full-length compilations of their EPs, like Hello Cruel World and The Short and Sick of It. and this one

The Bats are an influential New Zealand rock band formed in 1982 in Christchurch by Paul Kean (bass), Malcolm Grant (drums), Robert Scott (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards) and Kaye Woodward (lead guitar, vocals).
Though primarily a Christchurch band, The Bats have strong links to Dunedin and are usually grouped in with the Dunedin Sound musicians that emerged in the early 1980s.
The band has retained the same four members from 1982 to the present day. they have extended breaks between albums and focus on raising families and other musical projects,
that is probably the reason why they've endured since 1982 stated vocalist Robert Scott. They've recorded 9 full length albums, 7 EPS and a few singles..

The 3Ds were an alternative pop/rock band based from Dunedin, New Zealand, together from 1988 to 1997. They recorded three albums and several EPs, the best known of which is The Venus Trail (1993).
They achieved success worldwide, commercial and critical in the period 1992-95.
Formed in mid-1988, the New Zealand noise pop band 3D's comprised vocalist/guitarist David Saunders, bassist Denise Roughan (formerly of Look Blue Go Purple, and author of that group's big hit "Cactus Cat")
, and ex-Snapper drummer Dominic Stones.
By the time 3D's made their live debut later in the year, their ranks also included guitarist David Mitchell.
The quartet first appeared with the track "Meluzina Man" on the popular Xpressway Pile-Up compilation, and in early 1990 recorded their debut EP, Fish Tales.
With both Saunders and Mitchell splitting their time in the Robert Scott-led Magick Heads, 3D's went on the back burner, with only the EP Swarthy Songs for Swabs appearing in 1991;
This is their debut album released in 1992, it hit no 24 in the album charts. It is a classic

Ab3le Ta3sm3a3ns - He3y, Sp3in3ne3r!

The Able Tasmans were an indie band from Auckland, New Zealand. At various times the band consisted of Leslie Jonkers, Peter Keen, Graeme Humphreys, Craig Mason, David Beniston, Jane Dodd (previously of The Verlaines), and Ronald Young. They formed in 1984 and named themselves after the Dutch explorer Abel Tasman. They released four albums and two EPs on Flying Nun Records. The band split up in 1996.

This, their second release called  Hey Spinner!, this obscure New Zealand group deliver some of their best upbeat Byrds-esque guitar pop on record. Of the five albums they produced in the late '80s/early '90s, the signature of their sound is the keyboard-driven melody, subtle acoustic arrangements, and propulsive rhythm section. The sound is quite close to a more folk-sounding Stereolab, with vocal harmonies from the Brian Wilson songbook. just SUPERB!

Recorded: At Mascot Studios, Auckland 1989. Engineered by Terry Moore. Produced by the Able Tasmans and Fred E. Rick.

Band Members: on this release: Leslie Jonkers, Graeme Humphreys, Craig Mason, Peter Keen, Jane Dodd and Ronald Young.

The Verlaines are a rock band from Dunedin, New Zealand. Formed in 1981 by Graeme Downes, Craig Easton, Anita Pillai, Phillip Higham and Greg Kerr, the band went through multiple line-ups.
The Verlaines were noted for their angular, "difficult" song structures, wordy and downbeat lyrics, unusual subject matter all contained in often frantic up-tempo playing. The Verlaines were led by songwriter and vocalist/guitarist Graeme Downes although many other New Zealand musicians played guitar, bass, drums and brass instruments during the different stages of the band. Downes is an academic at the University of Otago, where he is head of the Department of Music.

Hallelujah All the Way Home is the debut album by New Zealand group, The Verlaines. First released in 1985 by Flying Nun Records,

It actually hit no 50 in NZ album charts which in the 80s was very difficult for any ""Alterntive** band from NZ as commercial NZ radio refused to play NZ Music!!!! . Only Student Radio championed NZ music

One of the first electronic bands in New Zealand, and hugely influential,
The Body Electric were formed in 1982 by Alan Jansson, although he was credited on first releases as Alan Jimson, and Andy Drey.
During their initial rehearsals, they were then joined by actor-turned-singer Garry Smith.
The group's debut single, Pulsing, was picked up by radio programmers and spent 27 weeks in the charts. (not included on this album) ????
Not entirely indicative of their sound, the track has a novelty quality to it.
Following the success of Pulsing, Andy Drey was replaced by Spines bassist Wendy Calder and the group released two more minor hits (Dreaming In A Life and Imagination) and a full length album before splitting in 1984.

Jansson went into record production in Auckland and had a global hit with OMC in the 1990s, and Smith was later the manager of The New Zealand Ballet Company.

Car Crash Set were a pioneering New Zealand electronic band in the mid 80's formed by Nigel Russell (ex Spelling Mistakes/Danse Macabre), Dave Bulog, and Trevor Reekie, they combined cutting edge electronic sounds, guitar overdrive and feedback. The band released several singles as well as one album and EP.

Early Eighties synth pop dance alterno band which emerged almost instantaneously after the demise of DANSE MACABRE. Taking their influences from New Order, Suicide and DAF and their name from the last line of The Normal's song 'Warm Leatherette' later covered by Grace Jones, "join the car crash set", the band employed cutting edge electronic sounds, guitar overdrive and feedback and a uniqueness that gathered them a medium but loyal underground following.

The band existed for about 5 years (which was quite a record for a band back then)
The band toured extensively as well as playing several key supports for the likes of OMD, Shriekback, Hunters and Collecters.

This recording goers for big bucks, my friends used to laugh @ me for supporting NZ bands...and even more for buying records such as this one.. goes for 120$ on discogs. so i guess whose laughin now beyotches :P

T3he L3a D3e Da3's L3a D3e Da3's Le3ge3nd
The La De Das were a leading New Zealand rock band of the 1960s and early 1970s. Formed in New Zealand in 1963 as The Mergers, they enjoyed considerable success in both New Zealand and Australia until their split in 1975.The Mergers formed in late 1963 as a Shadows-style instrumental group and began playing local dances and school socials,
The group decided that "The Mergers" failed to reflect the toughness of their music, so began searching for another name. One promoter even changed their name to The Gonks for an early 1965 gig at a summer carnival. They decided on The Criminals, but Phil Key's mother was not impressed and after rehearsals one night at the Wilson house, she jokingly suggested instead that they call themselves "something nice, like the la-de-das ...". Key loved it and the name stuck.By early 1965 their weekend hobby had taken off and they were getting regular bookings on Auckland's booming dance circuitIn November 1965 they got a major break when they were called up to fill in at The Platterack. The La De Das went over well and were offered further bookings at the club. After Phil Key finished school in December, the band turned professional. The Platterack took on The Las De Das as the resident band, replacing the Dallas Four. The band received £12 per week and were soon packing out the club on a regular basis.[citation needed] It was here they linked up with one of the regular patrons, Bruce Howard, a classically trained keyboard player. Bruce auditioned at the next rehearsal and joined the band. He and Trevor Wilson became the creative core of the band, writing all their original material.
In January 1966 Stebbing was given an import copy of a Changin' Times album by Philips A&R man John McCready, and he immediately tagged the track "How Is The Air Up There?" as a possible song for a local band. The La De Das performed a demo, resulting in them cutting a recording and signing to Zodiac for both management and production, with their recordings distributed through Phillips. They recorded a series of hits through 1966-67,which are now regarded as classics of 60s R&B.Here are 28 of their best dittys

The Human Instinct were a New Zealand blues rock band active from the late 1960s until the early 1980s.
Burning Up Years is the debut album by New Zealand blues-rock band The Human Instinct. It was released in 1969 and reissued on CD by Ascension Records in 2001.

The album's title track is a cover of a 1969 song by Birmingham progressive rock trio Hard Meat, whose original version was the B-side of their cover of The Beatles' "Rain"
"Blues News", "Fall Down", and "Ashes and Matches" were covers of unreleased demos recorded by New Zealand guitarist Doug Jerebine under his stage name, Jesse Harper. (Jerebine's original versions were belatedly released in the 1990s.)
Other cover versions on the album were The Kinks' "You Really Got Me", Neil Young's "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" (listed as "I Think I'll Go Back Home" and miscredited in the liner notes to Jesse Harper), and Ashton, Gardner & Dyke's "Maiden Voyage", misattributed to Maurice Greer.

"I Think I'll Go Back Home" b/w "You Really Got Me" was released as a single.

N3e3ils He3av3y C3o3nc3ept Al3b3u3m
Neil's Heavy Concept Album is a 1984 recording of songs and spoken comedy routines by British actor Nigel Planer, in character as the long-suffering hippie Neil from the BBC comedy series The Young Ones. Production, arrangements and keyboards are by Canterbury scene keyboardist Dave Stewart, who also plays guitar, bass and drums. Other players on the album include ex-members of bands such as Gong, Spooky Tooth and Level 42.
The front of the album sleeve is a loose parody of The Rolling Stones' Their Satanic Majesties Request album sleeve. The rear side is a parody of the Beatle's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, with Neil wearing different outfits replacing the images of the four Beatles, and the text "A heavy time is guaranteed for all." replacing "A splendid time is guaranteed for all."
The album followed the success of the Neil single "Hole in My Shoe" — a cover version of Traffic's 1967 hit – which reached number 2 in the United Kingdom.

Additional spoken tracks include Neil having a conversation with a potato in a sewer, reciting a poem to his rubber plant Wayne ("your roots are in the earth, mine are in Twickenham"), and experiencing a flashback in the track "Paranoid Remix" which features Beatles-esque backwards noises and voices, and ends with a parody of the last chord from "A Day in the Life". A parody horror movie commercial, which sees vegetarian Neil being turned into a carnivorous monster after accidentally eating a hamburger leads into the original Planer composition "Lentil Nightmare", a dark heavy metal number that quotes briefly from King Crimson's "The Court of the Crimson King" and features Planer singing in an uncharacteristic wailing, high falsetto. In the disco/rap number "Bad Karma in the UK", Neil's mother (played by musician Barbara Gaskin) admonishes him to watch his I Ching, chew his food eleven times, and remember his expectorant. "God Save the Queen" is performed as a cabaret number by a bad American standup comic.

Great comedy album and on Hurdy Gurdy Man  well listen to it- its on Side B..

as the tracks seque into easch other I ripped them as such so instead of 20 songs U get A & B side as it is from a cassette hahahahahah from the 80s hahahahahaha

This has to be one of the hardest rips Ive ever done.. This is the 9th attempt. def the final hahahahah

Jo3hn Co3o3per Cl3ark3e Z3ip S3tyle Me3tho3d
Followup to last post, i thought id share a personal fav of mine .....
The 80s produced some amazing artists.
JCC was 1 of them.
Digitally remastered reissue of John Cooper Clarke's 1982 album.
This British Poet of Punk looked like Bob Dylan on smack, recited and spat out brilliant poetry like Mark E. Smith (The Fall).
As unique as any artist of the era, JCC would recite poetry over minimal musical backing (if any) and delights us with his witty rants and thought-provoking outlook on life
Zip Style was released in 1982 as the long awaited follow-up album to Snap, Crackle & Bop.<< Another classic
Receiving critical acclaim, it's unbelievable that it still remains his last official album to date. Again superbly backed by the music of the Invisible Girls.

A lost treasure. guy is brilliant and so under rated

TO3YA3H & F3R3IPP The La3dy Or The Tig3er

TO3YA3H & F3R3IPP The La3dy Or The Tig3er
REQUEST: for Amanda...
Amazing 1986 US two-part LP which finds Toyah narrating the words of Frank R Stocktons gripping short stories The Lady Or The Tiger & The Discourager Of Hesitancy over an ambient blend of her husbands musical genius on Side One joined on Side Two by the League Of Crafty Guitarists.
Fripp composed the score with the intention that it would all be played backwards! The entire track is long, slow, sonic guitar notes in reverse. Despite this trickery, the track is perfectly composed.
This powerful if forgotten work.is long deleted  .
CD's are so expensive if youre lucky to find one.
I only have this on vinyl and thanks to the amazing SPIN CLEAN + Adobe Auditions systems,  I have managed to get a high quality rip for ya'll

Night and Day is Joe Jackson's fifth album, released in June 1982
It reached the Top 5 in both the UK and US, Jackson's only studio album to do so.
It sold over one million copies, earning platinum disc status
The album pays tribute to the wit and style of Cole Porter (and indirectly to New York)
The track "Real Men" pointed obliquely to the city's early 1980s gay culture.
"Steppin' Out" (one of the best songs ever. just love this) earned Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Pop Male Vocal Performance,
It reached #6 on both the UK and the US charts. "Breaking Us in Two" reached #18 in the US and #59 in the UK.disc two contains demo versions of songs from the album, five songs from the Mike's Murder soundtrack, and five live tracks from Live 1980/86..

Let's Make a New Dope Deal is a 1980 comedy album recorded by Cheech & Chong. Originally released on LP, 8-track and cassette in 1980, the long out-of-print album was finally released on CD on November 15, 2005, along with another long-awaited out-of-print (since the early 1990s) album, Sleeping Beauty.
A single for "Bloat On", a parody of "Float On" by R&B group The Floaters was released with a non-album B-side entitled "Just Say 'Right On'" with a picture sleeve depicting animated overweight versions of Cheech and Chong. The rest of the album may have been recorded shortly before filming began for Up In Smoke, with then-current references to Peter Frampton, punk rock, and Star Wars noticeable during some of the routines.

Unbehagen is the second studio album by Nina Hagen Band released in 1979 by CBS Records. It is the last album released by the band, before Nina Hagen  decided to pursue a solo career.
The album produced three singles, "African Reggae", "Herrmann hiess er" and "Auf'm Rummel". "Herrmann hiess er" deals with a drug addiction and is believed to be about Hagen's ex-boyfriend Herman Brood. The accompanying music video was also released. The album also contains a German cover version, "Wir leben immer... noch", of Lene Lovich's hit single "Lucky Number". The song "Wenn ich ein Junge wär" was recorded live in April 1979 at the Saarbrücken Congress Hall.

The album was a chart success and was certified Gold in Germany in 1981, selling over 250,000 copies.

Unbehagen also entered the album charts in New Zealand and elsewhere.

Disco was dying , Pumk was dead and the New Wave was beginning to unfold its wings

Ur3gh! A Mu3sic Wa3r
Urgh! A Music War is a British soundtrack & film released in 1982 featuring performances by punk rock, new wave  , and post-punk acts, Themovie was filmed in 1980. Among the artists featured in the movie are Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), Magazine, The Go-Go's, Toyah , The Fleshtones, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, X, XTC, Devo, The Cramps, Oingo Boingo, Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan, Klaus Nomi, Wall of Voodoo, Pere Ubu, Steel Pulse, Surf Punks, 999, UB40, Echo & the Bunnymen and The Police. These were many of the most popular groups on the New Wave scene; in keeping with the spirit of the scene, the film also features several less famous acts, and one completely obscure group, Invisible Sex, in what appears to be their only public performance.

The selection of songs was almost the same as the film, but there were a few minor changes and several acts featured in the film did not make it to the album (Dead Kennedys, John Cooper Clarke, Chelsea, Surf Punks, Invisible Sex, Splodgenessabounds

my main gripe and yeah i got one- wtf were Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, doin in this lol.. they were never punk or new wave or post punk....

Despite Straight Lines is the debut album by the British singer-songwriter Marilyn (Peter Robinson), who was part of the wacky racers @ Steve Strange's Blitz Club hahahahha, released in 1985.
Although Marilyn had scored three top 40 hits throughout the 1983-84 period, his debut album was not released until mid-1985, 18 months after his biggest hit "Calling Your Name" was a top 10 hit.Possibly due to a loss of momentum, the album only charted in Australia, and subsequent singles taken from it were also unsuccessful.
Although it is his only album released to date, the album was reissued on CD in 2008 as Despite Straight Lines: The Very Best of Marilyn, by Cherry Pop (a division of Cherry Red Records).

The reissue includes several bonus tracks, consisting of B-sides and alternative versions, though it excludes the single "Pray for That Sunshine", which strangely was omitted from this reissue at Marilyn's request. so I reinstated it bitch alongside with the 12" of You Dont Love Me  hahahahahha.

Marilyn survived all the drugs and depression and paranoid and has re-emerged and been recording again and is now mates again with Boy George.
I seem to follow tragic souls hahahaha. and yep I love a good ending esp one against the odds

Heyward's solo debut, is brilliant. It showed that he was a main force behind Haircut 100's  success. & output.
He is a Genius, period!. Heyward has the knack of being able to pen the best, most insanely catchy and complicated (yet accessible) songs. that still to this day I still cant fathom wtf theyre about hahahahah

C3haz Ja3nkel - Que3stio3nnair3e
Charles Jeremy "Chaz" Jankel  is an English singer, songwriter, arranger, composer, multi-instrumentalist and record producer.
In a music career spanning more than 40 years, Jankel came to prominence in the late 1970s as the guitarist and keyboardist of the rock band Ian Dury and The Blockheads. With Dury, Jankel co-wrote some of the band's best-known songs including "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll", "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick" and "Reasons to be Cheerful, Part 3".
In addition to his work with the Blockheads, Jankel has had a solo career which has resulted in nine studio albums. He has a long list of credits as both a performer and as songwriter.
The album was recorded over a period of seven months between January and July 1981, in sessions that took place at Eastcote Products Recording Studios, in London.
The album featured major lyrical contributions from Ian Dury and musical contributions from two of the Blockheads, bass player Norman Watt-Roy and drummer Charlie Charles and also contained the US dance hit "Glad to Know You", which was one of the tracks with lyrics written by Dury, plus the MTV music video of its title track.
Ripped from Vinyl. Still no Cd or Digital release of this album altho on his website he claims to have remastered it. I will stick with the VINYL dude hahahahha

Kil3lin3g Joke Kil3l3ing Jo3ke

Kil3lin3g Joke Kil3l3ing Jo3ke

Killing Joke is the debut studio album by English rock band Killing Joke. It was released in August 1980 by record label E.G.

The album has been called "an underground classic" for fans of "heavy music", and has influenced artists ranging from Nirvana  to Marilyn Manson  and Metallica (who covered The Wait)
The album's lyrics were written by frontman and vocalist Jaz Coleman, and expressed his opinions on issues such as politics, death, hypocrisy, human nature, pollution and exile.

The artwork was based on a photograph by Don McCullin of young rioters trying to escape from clouds of CS gas released by the British Army in Derry, Northern Ireland, on 8 July 1971 during the Troubles.

This  2008 reissues of Killing Joke featured several bonus tracks, such as previously released B-sides and demo tracks.
The tracks were listed in addition to the UK original release, being that "Change" was track 9 instead of track 7, as it was in the original US release.
The 2008 reissue was dedicated in memory of bassist Paul Raven, who performed on his last album with Killing Joke in 2006.
Raven died of heart failure in October 2007. Since then, every reissue of Killing Joke's studio albums has been dedicated to him.

The album was included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die

Ia2n Du2ry & The Blo2ckhe2ads - Lau2gh2ter D2eluxe Edi2tion

Ia2n Du2ry & The Blo2ckhe2ads - Lau2gh2ter Del2uxe Ed2iti2on

Laughter is the third studio album by Ian Dury & The Blockheads; released in 1980, it was the last studio album Dury made for Stiff Records.
It was also the last studio album he made with The Blockheads, until 1998's Mr. Love Pants, though a live album Warts 'n' Audience was produced in 1991.
The Blockheads had undergone a significant personnel change since the previous album, Do It Yourself.
Chaz Jankel, who played keyboards and co-wrote most of that album's songs, had left in the wake of a stressful tour. PS: I re ripped my vinyl of Questionaire- it will be coming soon :)).
Jankel's place on guitar was taken by Wilko Johnson of Dr. Feelgood. Johnson (real name John Wilkinson) had considered retiring from the music business until he was asked by Davey Payne and Dury, old friends from their pub rock days, to join The Blockheads.
The new-line up first appeared on the 'I Want To Be Straight' single, which was released before the album, and reached number 22 in the UK pop charts.Although Ian Dury was becoming harder to work with, the production of Laughter had started out as a relaxed affair, without the presence of Jankel and Dury.
Rehearsals commenced in early 1980 at Milner Sound in Fulham, after keyboard player Mick Gallagher had returned from an American tour with The Clash. The group was, at that time, on hiatus after the gruelling promotional tour in support of Do It Yourself.Spurred on by recording commitments, Dury took over the rehearsals to form the basis of his new album and brought in Wilko Johnson, all without consulting the rest of the band.
At that time Dury was an alcoholic, and also addicted to Mogadon, a brand of sedative.Coupled with his bad reaction to being a celebrity, and his bouts of depression, these addictions caused him to be cantankerous, confrontational, argumentative and controlling.
Although these traits had come out during the recording of the group's previous album, they were at their peak during the record sessions for Laughter.Attempts to question Dury's judgment would cause explosions of defensiveness and aggression.
He also insisted on synchronizing the instruments to a click-track, which aggravated a number of the musicians, especially Wilko Johnson.
To make matters worse, guitarist Johnny Turnbull suffered a head injury and was afflicted with mood swings. He eventually had a nervous breakdown
In an interview years later, Dury admitted of the album: "I called it Laughter to cheer myself up."

Visa3ge Pa3st Fu3ture In Extr3em3e

Visa3ge Pa3st Fu3ture In Extr3em3e

This collection was compiled by me.
I was hoping it be ready for the anniversary of his passing but with life it didnt quite happen but FINALLY it is completed
I have been workin on this for weeks in my spare time
I refuse to pay the prices for The WILDLIFE deluxe editions.
It dont have all these mixes either.
As I have a very extensive collection of Visage (theres not much I DONT HAVE) They are sourced from my CD's, Cassettes and 12" vinyl.
It covers NEARLY every single (apart from TAR as I have only the album version). and 12" remixes and rare bsides I have in my collection.
There are alot of Visage comps out there but NONE are as good as this . brag much ? nah jus a fact hahahaha

I would pay good $ for this type of collection to be released for us THE FANS.who after even Visage's light had faded to grey (c wot i did there :P )  we were STILL THERE discussing, missing them terribly.
Visage meant and will always mean alot to me. As a young person when Fade to Grey came out,and feeling like a freak, Steve showed it was OK to be different and OWN IT,,  ,Fans have eagerly kept buying their past output, then Steve put the band back together and managed to release some music for us....
I belong to a few groups on FB and fans are demanding a comp like this and looks like it aint gonna be anytime soon if evah!, or Deluxe versions of the first 2 albums.

Polygram New York is different than the UK based company and theyve shown no interest in doing anything re the rare dance mix cassettes or the first 2 albums given the Deluxe treatment.
Cherry Pop have done their best.... but their complete cockup re The Anvil > blah horrible

so i thought I'D DO ONE-

36 tracks that will never FADE TO GREY

RIP Steve Strange Harrington .

Stra3nge cr3uise Stra3nge Cru3ise
After the failure of Visage's Beat Boy in 84/85 Rusty Egan and Steve decided to disband Visage.
This was Steves new band formed in 1986 The band was fronted by both Strange and Wendy Cruise (Wu) formerly of the Photos. produced by Mike Hedges best known for his work with the Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Beautiful South and Manic Street Preachers amongst others.  this was their one and only album
It failed.even more badly than Beat boy did lol  not hard to see why it is pretty crap ,theres no energy in any of the songs, with Steve at the time recovering from heroin addiction at the time this was recorded, he should not have recorded this IMO. He later said it failed cos EMI refused to promote it. No it failed cos it was shit mate hahaha.and I like Beat Boy but being a fan I had to have it hahaha. tis 1 of those ones play once and never again. still have heard worse.
Nice cover though :P
in 2014 Cherry pop released a digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1986 album

There are two bonus tracks - 12" version of 'Rebel Blue Rocker' - Rebel Mix and b/side 'Silver Screen Queen'.

Pla3st3ics We3lco3me Ba3ck

Pla3st3ics We3lco3me Ba3ck
Plastics, or The Plastics, were a short-lived Japanese new wave music group prominent in the late 1970s and early 1980s.Their music was a major influence on Japanese pop music and their songs have been covered by many bands, most notably Polysics, Pizzicato Five, and Stereo Total.
The bands Talking Heads, The B-52's and Devo were all big fans of Plastics and were instrumental in getting their albums released in the United States. Their mainstream exposure began when Toshio Nakanishi designed a tour program book for Talking Heads and slipped David Byrne a tape of Plastics demos. Byrne promptly sent it to the B-52's' manager who offered to represent them internationally.

This is a lost masterpiece of New Wave--a quirky Japanese band in love with their primitive Roland drum machine, performing hilariously bent pop songs in marginal English that veers from the amazingly ridiculous to occasionally sublime. The record was produced by the same production team that did the first two B-52's albums, and it sounds very slick like those albums,

Ta3lk Tal3k - The Par3ty's O3ver
The Party's Over is the debut album by Talk Talk.
It was released in 1982 and produced by Colin Thurston, who was a former engineer for David Bowie but was better known for producing Duran Duran's first two albums.
Here in New Zealand  the album was a hit, peaking at number 8 due to the success of "Today",even outselling their 2nd, the Its My Life album
This is the 1997 remaster which surprisingly didnt include any bonus tracks. REALLY DISAPPOINTED EMI
So I have added 2 b sides & 3 demos + 2 12" singles Today & Talk Talk from the a sides & b sides compilation. + 2 remixes from History Revisited increasing the original 1982 9 track album to 18 songs....

Now it is complete. no thanks to EMI

In 2016 it was remastered and re released as a 2 disc set as part of the Sophisticated Boom Box box set (who the feck thought of this title.. doh) i think its dumb

Time for get away from stoner rock hahahahahah
Techno Army featuring Gary Numan is a remix album by English musician Gary Numan. It was released in April 1996 and consists of remixes of various Numan tracks from 1979 to 1994 with newly recorded vocals by Numan.
Numan's own liner notes state:-\ "As a songwriter, to have other musicians cover your songs is something of an honour. To have almost an entire album devoted to your work is extremely flattering and so, for me, this has been a most interesting time. My original versions of these songs, recorded over the last 16 years or so, are somewhat different and so it has been fascinating to watch other musicians' interpretations of them come to life.My own music has, particularly over the last two years, taken a much darker, heavier direction and so it is highly unlikely that I personally, would have reworked these songs in this style. For that reason alone this album is somewhat disconnected from me but is, nonetheless, something that makes me enormously proud and I am grateful to Nick and Miles for putting it together

Buffalo Springfield is the self-titled debut album by folk rock band Buffalo Springfield, released in late 1966.
It was originally released in both mono and stereo versions as Atco (SD) 33-200,
but when the single "For What It's Worth" became a hit, the album was re-released as Atco (SD) 33-200A adding it but dropping "Baby Don't Scold Me". "Baby Don't Scold Me" has never been reissued in stereo: all CD releases feature only the mono mix.The album was produced by the group's managers, Charles Greene and Brian Stone, each of whom had minimal experience as a record producer, and the band was generally unhappy with the sound of the album and felt that it didn't reflect the intensity of their live shows
The band asked Atco for time to re-record the album, but the label, not wanting to miss the Christmas holiday season, insisted that the record be released as it was.
However, the label did give Stills and Young permission to personally mix the mono version of the LP themselves, and Buffalo Springfield have long insisted that their mono version was superior to the stereo version.

ZZ Top's First Album is the debut studio album by the American rock band ZZ Top. It was produced by manager Bill Ham, and was released on January 16, 1971, on London Records.
Establishing their attitude and humor, ZZ Top incorporated boogie, hard rock, heavy metal and Southern rock influences into their sound.
Thematically, the album is lively, playful and at times brash, filled with the band's personal experiences and sexual innuendos that became central to the group's image.
Seeking inspiration from Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top began recording the album at Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, Texas.
Only one single was released from the album and failed to appear on the Billboard charts.
In 1987, this album was remixed for CD release. This is off the original vinyl.. I've not heard the remixed version of the album so cant compare how much has changed but hey Leave well alone i Say....
Wish theyd have stayed making blues rock instead of stadium fodder but o well $ beckons
