The Phone is a Dutch television reality show, which is created by Willem Brom, Beau van Erven Dorens and Marc Bennink.
In each show two cell phones will be hidden at random places by the producers of the show. The phones will start ringing and the people answering the calls are from that moment participants in the game. These two people now have a chance of winning €25,000 by collaborating in the hunt for accomplishment of the given missions. The unique aspect of the show is that it's filmed as being a movie rather than a reality show. It was inspired by movies like Die Hard with a Vengeance.
The first episode of The Phone was aired by Dutch public broadcaster AVRO on July 6, 2007. The show has already been sold to 52 different countries.
It won the Best Reality prize at the 2008 Rose d'Or ceremony.
The two contestants have only a limited time of three hours to complete all assigned tasks, after which the prize, in a brief case is removed.
In the earlier format, three USB "thumb drives" are hidden at various points around the city. One commonly used site is one of the city's cathedrals. Each drive holds clues to the whereabouts of the brief case and these are revealed in the penultimate stage of the game where the "thumb drives" are plugged into a specially constructed display unit which is also on contact with the "Operator".
The Phone is a United States reality television show, based on the Dutch version of the same name. This show aired on Fridays at 10pm Eastern time on MTV
The Phone is a reality series that locates its contestants on the street. The two contestants are two people who some months before filming registered to take part in a mysterious game. The chosen players answer one of two ringing phones placed in separate locations. Once a person answers the phone, they are asked by the show's host, played by Emmett Scanlan, known to the viewer as "The Operator", if they would like the chance to win up to $50,000. If the offer is accepted, the game begins by activating a scenario that seems to be out of a movie (Example: In the premiere episode the game began with a car exploding and The Operator explaining that a mad bomber was loose, and the contestant's task was to stop the bomber and bring him to justice). The players are then given a series of instructions to follow to complete various tasks (known as "Missions") that have some level of involvement with the situation. Additionally, the players are informed to keep in mind everything that they see and hear over the course of the adventure, for it will have some bearing in the game later on.

[Alioth:]
Sweet whispers departed with the wind
reducing laments (and steel sound) to silence
The hybrid breeze whispered in harmonious minds
and penetrated labyrinths
A new world, a shining dawn in time,
now the veil is being drawn back
Frailty is the dark and cruel destiny
which the track of fear leads into
In the depths of strange and unconcerned minds silence fades out,
It's the track of fear
The sweet breeze of power faded slowly,
lighting their feebleness
Anguished dark eyes clamoured for mercy
watching an unexpected end
A new world, a shining dawn in time,
now the veil is being drawn back
Frailty is the dark and cruel destiny
which the track of fear leads into
In the depths of strange and unconcerned minds silence fades out,
It's the track of fear
[Zorbion:]
Breaking the silence
you have freed a stagnant river
Where will the track of imagination lead us...
You have captured the virtue of ignorance
You have freed dread
