Climb aboard the world's most advanced dive support vessel, the Skandi Arctic. Onboard, a crew of more than 90 life support supervisors will assist saturation divers hired to repair a gas pipeline on the floor of the icy North Sea. To prepare, the divers must live in a pressurized habitat aboard the ship before diving hundreds of feet below the surface in diving bells. For both the divers and the ship's crew, the mission is critical, the environment hostile, the technology space age, and the potential for disaster constant.

Austal's 72 metre High Speed Support Vessel is a multi-mission theatre support solution based on Austal’s proven high speed catamaran platform.
The shallow draft, medium-lift-aviation vessel offers high speed performance and manoeuvrability, outstanding payload capacity for vehicles, equipment, 260 troops and stores. With a medium lift helicopter platform, multi-deck hoist, stern ramp and crane, the HSSV is prepared for any military, SAR or humanitarian / disaster relief mission.
Following design and construction at Austal's Henderson Western Australia shipyard, two x 72 metre HSSV's were delivered to the Royal Navy of Oman in 2016 - RNOV AL MUBSHIR and RNOV AL NAASIR.

The 'Offshore Support Vessel of the Year Award' for 2012 was won by North Sea Shipping's 'North Sea Giant', built to DNV class at the Metalships & Docks shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
The North Sea Giant is considered to be the largest offshore vessel of this type ever built, with an overall length of 156m, beam of 30m and installed power of more than 22MW.
The vessel was given the prize for her innovative features, which include advanced dynamic positioning (DP) capability for DP operations based on a high redundancy level and high propulsion power.
North Sea Giant has a capacity for 120 people and its structure is highlighted by its heliport on the bow and a bridge placed up on the sixth deck of the vessel. The vessel boasts a working deck area of close to 3000 sqm.
Introduced in 2010, the 'Offshore Support Journal Awards' have been well received by the industry and this award recognizes the owner, designer and builder of an offshore support vessel that has been delivered in the past calendar year and is considered to have set an industry benchmark through innovative design and efficient operation.

High Speed
High Speed is a 1986 pinball game designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Williams Electronics. This game was based on Ritchie's real-life police chase inside a 1979 Porsche 928. He was finally caught in Lodi, California on Interstate 5 and accused of speeding at 146 mph.
Production
During its design, High Speed was jokingly called "High Cost" by some rival Williams designers due to its then-high production cost. The advances in the mechanical design that went into High Speed, coupled with the machine's popularity, led to many machines being kept in service much longer than was previously the norm. The play surfaces of the machine were not initially given as much attention, leading to many High Speed machines seeing service to this day in extremely worn condition. Williams rapidly addressed this issue by making mylar playfield covers available and later adding hard clear paint coats to their playfields. Canadian specialist Classic Playfield Reproductions produced an officially licensed High Speed 13-color Reproduction Playfield, which shipped as limited edition in 2014.

Jötunn
The jötnar (anglicized jotunn or jotun, plural jötnar; /ˈjoʊtən/, /ˈjoʊtʊn/, or /ˈjɔːtʊn/; Icelandic: [ˈjœːtʏn]; from Old Norse jǫtunn /ˈjɔtunː/; often glossed as giant or ettin) can be seen throughout Norse mythology. The Jötnar are a mythological race that live in Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. They were banished there by the Æsir who refused them entry to their world, Asgard. The Jötnar frequently interact with the Æsir, as well as the Vanir. They are usually in opposition to, or in competition with them, but also interact with them in a non-hostile manner. Some Jötnar even intermarry with the Æsir and Vanir and many are named as parents or grandparents of Æsir such as Thor and Odin. This very complex relationship between these two comparable races develops most notably in the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda, ultimately making it difficult to distinguish them from the more familiar Norse gods.

The shallow draft, medium-lift-aviation vessel offers high speed performance and manoeuvrability, outstanding payload capacity for vehicles, equipment, 260 troops and stores. With a medium lift helicopter platform, multi-deck hoist, stern ramp and crane, the HSSV is prepared for any military, SAR or humanitarian / disaster relief mission.
Following design and construction at Austal's Henderson Western Australia shipyard, two x 72 metre HSSV's were delivered to the Royal Navy of Oman in 2016 - RNOV AL MUBSHIR and RNOV AL NAASIR.

The 'Offshore Support Vessel of the Year Award' for 2012 was won by North Sea Shipping's 'North Sea Giant', built to DNV class at the Metalships & Docks shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
The North Sea Giant is considered to be the largest offshore vessel of this type ever built, with an overall length of 156m, beam of 30m and installed power of more than 22MW.
The vessel was given the prize for her innovative features, which include advanced dynamic positioning (DP) capability for DP operations based on a high redundancy level and high propulsion power.
North Sea Giant has a capacity for 120 people and its structure is highlighted by its heliport on the bow and a bridge placed up on the sixth deck of the vessel. The vessel boasts a working deck area of close to 3000 sqm.
Introduced in 2010, the 'Offshore Support Journal Awards' have been well received by the industry and this award recognizes the owner, designer and builder of an offshore support vessel that has been delivered in the past calendar year and is considered to have set an industry benchmark through innovative design and efficient operation.

Special microphones and sensors let us listen to the physiological processes of professional freediver Elisabeth Kristoffersen. Remaking the Pallasboy Vessel
The Pallasboy Project explores the creative process involved in crafting 'The Pallasboy Vessel’, an Iron Age wooden artefact discovered in 2000 in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath. A replica vessel was crafted by woodworker Mark Griffiths using appropriate replica and contemporary tools in Cork city in July and September 2015. The process of re-creation was documented by Cork-based archaeologist and photographer Brian Mac Domhnaill. The project is being led and informed by archaeology specialists Dr. Benjamin Gearey and Caitríona Moore and is funded by the World Wood Day Fund via the International Wood Culture Society, whose support is gratefully acknowledged. Submerged under water, which is contained in a rowing boat on stage, Kristoffersen will hold her breath for several minutes, letting us experience the physiological transformations she undergoes whilst doing so.
The diver’s strict organization of time during preparation and diving form the basic structure of the music. The sounds of the heart, lungs, bloodflow and diaphragm are used as musical material and heard live in the hall. Using an EEG, changes of brain activity are made audible and take us even deeper into the diver’s body.
The Body is a Vessel submerges us in a baptism set to the sounds of science. protective and exposing, this work explores the perspectives of human evolution.
The Body is a Vessel was produced thanks to the support of the SuperCollider Symposium 2010, Berlin and the Haute Ecole Arc Ingénierie in St. Imier, Switzerland.

After many years navigating the high southern latitudes, the yacht Gambo, owned by Welsh glaciologist Dr Alun Hubbard, set a course north in 2009 and sailed to the west coast of Greenland to support a number of climate change research projects. This is a scientific adventure “Gambo Style”: big plans, limited funding, a mixed bunch of sailors, scientists and climbers and a roguish Gambo spirit that somehow keeps it all afloat.
The film was also made in “Gambo Style”: big plans, absolutely no funding, a mixed bunch of sailors, scientists and climbers that don’t mind being filmed, and a lot of patience for the video editing software that somehow made it possible to make something out of this adventure!

A replica vessel was crafted by woodworker Mark Griffiths using appropriate replica and contemporary tools in Cork city in July and September 2015. The process of re-creation was documented by Cork-based archaeologist and photographer Brian Mac Domhnaill. The project is being led and informed by archaeology specialists Dr. Benjamin Gearey and Caitríona Moore and is funded by the World Wood Day Fund via the International Wood Culture Society, whose support is gratefully acknowledged.

In 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd led 4,000 military troops from the U.S., Britain and Australia in an invasion of Antarctica called “Operation Highjump”, and at least one follow-up expedition. In 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd led 4,000 military troops from the U.S., Britain and Australia in an invasion of Antarctica called “Operation Highjump”, and at least one follow-up expedition.

He allegedly claimed that he knew there had been “a lot of aircraft and rocket shoot-downs”, but did not realize the situation was as serious as the documentary presented it.
Operation “High Jump”, which was, basically an invasion of the Antarctic, consisted of three Naval battle groups, which departed Norfolk, VA, on 2 December 1946. They were led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s command ship, the ice-breaker “Northwind,” and consisted of the catapult ship “Pine Island,” the destroyer “Brownsen,” the aircraft-carrier “Phillipines Sea,” the U.S. submarine “Sennet,” two support vessels “Yankee” and “Merrick,” and two tankers “Canisted” and “Capacan,” the destroyer “Henderson” and a floatplane ship “Currituck.”

Interestingly, the Pine Island (AV-12), one of the seaplane tenders involved in the expedition, has a rather colorful history. The USS Pine Island, a Currituck Class Seaplane Tender, was laid down, 16 November 1942, at Todd Shipyard Corporation, in San Pedro, California. It was launched, 26 February 1944, and given the commissioned name, USS Pine Island on 26 April 1945.
The ship served through the final months of the Second World War, and the immediate post-war period, but was decommissioned on 1 May 1950 When the Korean War broke out, the ship was re-commissioned, on 7 October 1950, at Alameda, California. She was finally decommissioned, for good, on 16 June 1967 and laid up in the Reserve Fleet.

In 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd led 4,000 military troops from the U.S., Britain and Australia in an invasion of Antarctica called “Operation Highjump”, and at least one follow-up expedition.
That is fact. It is undeniable. But... the part of the story that is seldom told, at least in “official” circles, is that Byrd and his forces encountered heavy resistance to their Antarctic venture from “flying saucers” and had to call off the invasion.
This aspect of the story was pushed forward, again, a few years ago, when a retired Rear Admiral, allegedly living in Texas, who had been involved in the “invasion”, said he was “shocked” when he read material from a documentary, entitled "Rire from the Sky".
He allegedly claimed that he knew there had been “a lot of aircraft and rocket shoot-downs”, but did not realize the situation was as serious as the documentary presented it.
Operation “High Jump”, which was, basically an invasion of the Antarctic, consisted of three Naval battle groups, which departed Norfolk, VA, on 2 December 1946. They were led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s command ship, the ice-breaker “Northwind,” and consisted of the catapult ship “Pine Island,” the destroyer “Brownsen,” the aircraft-carrier “Phillipines Sea,” the U.S. submarine “Sennet,” two support vessels “Yankee” and “Merrick,” and two tankers “Canisted” and “Capacan,” the destroyer “Henderson” and a floatplane ship “Currituck.”
