High Speed is a 1986 pinball game designed by Steve Ritchie and released by Williams Electronics. This game was based on Ritchie's real-life police chase inside a 1979 Porsche 928. He was finally caught in Lodi, California on Interstate 5 and accused of speeding at 146 mph.
During its design, High Speed was jokingly called "High Cost" by some rival Williams designers due to its then-high production cost. The advances in the mechanical design that went into High Speed, coupled with the machine's popularity, led to many machines being kept in service much longer than was previously the norm. The play surfaces of the machine were not initially given as much attention, leading to many High Speed machines seeing service to this day in extremely worn condition. Williams rapidly addressed this issue by making mylar playfield covers available and later adding hard clear paint coats to their playfields. Canadian specialist Classic Playfield Reproductions produced an officially licensed High Speed 13-color Reproduction Playfield, which shipped as limited edition in 2014.
The jötnar (anglicized jotunn or jotun, plural jötnar; /ˈjoʊtən/, /ˈjoʊtʊn/, or /ˈjɔːtʊn/; Icelandic: [ˈjœːtʏn]; from Old Norse jǫtunn /ˈjɔtunː/; often glossed as giant or ettin) can be seen throughout Norse mythology. The Jötnar are a mythological race that live in Jötunheimr, one of the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. They were banished there by the Æsir who refused them entry to their world, Asgard. The Jötnar frequently interact with the Æsir, as well as the Vanir. They are usually in opposition to, or in competition with them, but also interact with them in a non-hostile manner. Some Jötnar even intermarry with the Æsir and Vanir and many are named as parents or grandparents of Æsir such as Thor and Odin. This very complex relationship between these two comparable races develops most notably in the Prose Edda and the Poetic Edda, ultimately making it difficult to distinguish them from the more familiar Norse gods.
In Old Norse, the beings were called jǫtnar (singular jǫtunn, the regular reflex of the stem jǫtun- and the nominative singular ending -r), in particular leirjötnar ("clay-jötnar", i.e. Hrungnir, Aurgelmir) and eldjötnar ("fire-jötnar", i.e. Surtr, Muspell); or risar (singular risi), in particular bergrisar ("mountain-risar") and sjórisar ("sea-risar", i.e. Ægir, Rán); or þursar (sing. þurs; anglicized as thurs), in particular hrímþursar ("rime-thursar") and vindþursar ("wind-thursar", i.e. Kári, Hræsvelgr). Giantesses could also be known as gýgjar (singular gýgr) or íviðjur (singular íviðja).

The Pallasboy Project explores the creative process involved in crafting 'The Pallasboy Vessel’, an Iron Age wooden artefact discovered in 2000 in Toar Bog, Co. Westmeath. A replica vessel was crafted by woodworker Mark Griffiths using appropriate replica and contemporary tools in Cork city in July and September 2015. The process of re-creation was documented by Cork-based archaeologist and photographer Brian Mac Domhnaill. The project is being led and informed by archaeology specialists Dr. Benjamin Gearey and Caitríona Moore and is funded by the World Wood Day Fund via the International Wood Culture Society, whose support is gratefully acknowledged. In 1947, Admiral Richard E. Byrd led 4,000 military troops from the U.S., Britain and Australia in an invasion of Antarctica called “Operation Highjump”, and at least one follow-up expedition. That is fact. It is undeniable. But... the part of the story that is seldom told, at least in “official” circles, is that Byrd and his forces encountered heavy resistance to their Antarctic venture from “flying saucers” and had to call off the invasion. This aspect of the story was pushed forward, again, a few years ago, when a retired Rear Admiral, allegedly living in Texas, who had been involved in the “invasion”, said he was “shocked” when he read material from a documentary, entitled "Rire from the Sky". He allegedly claimed that he knew there had been “a lot of aircraft and rocket shoot-dow...
Vessel is a solo project which utilizes the help of friends and session musicians to complete it's sound. Starting out as a bunch of songs left over from previous bands and collaborations, Vessel has morphed into a fat and fuzzy psychedelic metal machine with the release of sophomore album "Nostalgia". Recorded in 2013 but left to ferment for a few years, Vessel's second outing is a psychedelic stoner rock mash of hooks and groove. Astral projections that scream power metal and dance with doom while worshiping the riff on a psychedelic nostalgia trip. After the release of the diverse heavy metal sample plate that was their debut, Vessel has reached into the past to create a hefty hard rock record that pushes boundaries with a true sense of familiarity. Not bound by expectation or genr...
